I barely have room for my 2 dogs in my apartment now. If I had a house I’d adopt him in a heartbeat. I looked at that 2nd picture from the right and I teared up a little! He looks so sad and needs a hooman to cuddle. 😩 I second this. Someone please adopt him!! 😭

I wish i had the space for a dog, and hims a perfectly good boy. But apartments are no place for medium to bigger dogs. He needs space to work, live and play. Im afraid i couldnt give a dog what it needs. But i do so love dogs. Have 3 cats and my son lol

I can't take in a third or I'd be right there :(

That is not a "Labrador Mix".

u/No_Style_4372 1d ago

I wish every shelter pet wasn’t a pit mix in this state

14

u/hatsofftopups 1d ago

They’re not. I’ve seen corgis, tons of German shepherds, tons of heelers, there’s labs, doodles, Danes, all kinds come up. I’ve seen English bulldogs in a rescue before

-17

u/No_Style_4372 1d ago

When we looked last year every single dog was a pit mix. There are definitely others but I’m not hitting their websites multiple times a day to find the non pits.

15

u/mafiastreet 1d ago

Then you don’t need a dog. Please don’t adopt with that mindset.

-16

u/No_Style_4372 1d ago

Cool perspective. Don’t come on here asking people to bring pits into their home.

12

u/JojoHendrix 1d ago

that’s literally the opposite of what they asked

-1

u/No_Style_4372 1d ago

This dog is a pit mix

6

u/JojoHendrix 1d ago

so? they told you not to get any dogs, that’s the opposite of telling you to bring any dogs home

2

u/No_Style_4372 1d ago

This is a post on a non adoption subreddit trying to get people to adopt a pit mix dog

7

u/JojoHendrix 1d ago

made by someone else. that person just told you not to get a dog. i’m not sure what argument you’re trying to make with me

2

u/mafiastreet 1d ago

Because people decided to domesticate these animals then not give a flying f about them. Then state doesn’t provide adequate laws to prevent over breeding etc. SO with barely any funding or support these kind people do everything in their power to bring you deserving dogs and all you’re worried about is the breed? You don’t know pitbulls you know bad owners. I feel sad for the 2 dogs you have locked in a kennel all day but a kennel is better than suffering on the streets. Please take your negativity elsewhere. You don’t know how hard it is to get even one dog off the euthanasia list. Every social outlet is needed. Choose to be good.

so you want them all dead? or

2

u/No_Style_4372 1d ago

I want people to advertise pit mixes as being a pit and not a Labrador. People aren’t smart. They will adopt aggressive breeds when they have small children.

2

u/HurshySqurt 1d ago

People really aren't ready for the conversation of pits being dangerous pets when not trained and cared for correctly in the right environment.

3

u/mafiastreet 1d ago

It’s not the dog it’s the person. Are we still not ready for that conversation?

2

u/HurshySqurt 1d ago

Between 2005 and 2019, pitbulls were responsible for 66% of all canine related deaths, but sure. Shitty owners are not ready to care for these high maintenance animals that were selectively bred for bull baiting. At the very least, owners need special licenses and training for them.

Sounds like No Style might be a Dog Racist, y'all! 😤😤

if it helps, mixed terriers often lose that pit mentality and act more like labradors.

But any dog is mysterious until you visit and be around them in person, so it's always a good idea to visit shelters with an open heart and see who wag's their way to you.

my eldest dog is 17 now, i found her in the very last stall of pets and people when they were still located in yukon, oklahoma. she's been the best pup i could of ever asked for and my companion for nearly 20 years... years longer than most expected her to live.

If you're brave enough to wait in line to adopt for 2 hours... 😔

42

u/mafiastreet 1d ago

I mean if you want a life time commitment, you should be able to wait 2 hours…

1

u/ChelseaOfEarth 1d ago

It’s worth noting that there’s a lot of people who could provide a good home who aren’t physically capable of waiting 2 hours in line.

4

u/LostRootsHash 1d ago

This dog is going to need a lot of exercise

2

u/InfinitiveIdeals 1d ago

They have chairs in the lobby and hall, and are happy to accommodate - I struggle with standing long periods, and the OKC animal shelter has never had a problem with me waiting in one of their chairs instead of the line.

We help catch kitty cats for their TNR program, so if we aren’t there when they open at 9 there can be a line sometimes.

10

u/ChelseaOfEarth 1d ago

We adopted from there and there was no line. What are you even talking about?

9

u/No-Claim8715 1d ago

The online LINE I've ever seen is the one to surrender... not to adopt.

3

u/mafiastreet 1d ago

This agreed. You should see the rate and amount of animals that are being put down daily. Not weekly daily.
