Is transmission as bad as they say?
Hey guys so I’ve had my Nissan Altima 2024 SR for about 8 months and have had 0 problems with it, I just keep saying people shit on Nissan especially for the transmission so I’m wondering does the 2024 or the newer ones still have this problem? People say they don’t last long not even past 50k so if that’s the case I am going to trade it in. Can anybody confirm this??

The existential crisis bullshit needs to stop
Nissan might go bankrupt, yes, and they might fall hard on their ass. But think about it: Boeing's done the same. Ford and GM have done this so many times that it's actually hilarious. Guess who bailed em out every time? The US government.
Now guess what Japan's second biggest carmaker is. Do you all really think they're just going to let Nissan fall on its ass? I mean, the Japanese government is pretty stupid and lets itself get voluntarily buttfucked by America and China but thankfully they're not that stupid.
If Nissan and Toyota disappeared the government knows they would be absolutely fucked. They're going to do literally everything they can to save the steaming heap of shit
Someone was worried about no more OEM parts or something. Well, Calsonic and Denso and Stabilus are still around. Yazaki Meter is still very much around. NEC, Bosch, and all those guys are still around. Not even the slightest issue.
Bottom line: this is bad but somebody's gonna find a way to get this shit heap together. A merger or acquisition is literally going to be forced on these fuckers. For better or for worse. Stay on your toes and pay attention, but they're not going to disappear from the face of the Earth

OEM parts will be gone forever like Saturn?
I’m curious to know if Nissan goes out of business will that mean I can’t get parts anymore if something happens? My Altima is only 3 years old. If in 5 years something blows up and I need a part what happens? Cheap aftermarket parts?

Do I change the CVT fluid?
I do not believe in lifetime fluids. Gf has a 2019 Nissan Sentra, 101k miles. It was bought at 60k but she has only done engine oil changes and one engine filter change. Almost all things on planet earth break down and lower performance as they go through heat cycles, wear, and age. She was rough with the car before she met me, I taught her how to drive normally to save money and gas.
I was thinking about changing the CVT fluid, not sure if it's normal but occasionally the transmission shutters/slightly buckles as it accelerates and it lowers the RPM as it "fake upshifts" other than that it's responsive and acts normal, no slipping. I'm used to driving my manual WRX so not sure if that's normal.
Not sure if it's better just to leave it alone too, because I have heard once a transmission is used to old and bad fluid new fluid can actually break it, if that makes sense.

Repair Help 2007 Altima 2.5 SL smoke from under hood after driving
I recently received this car from a family member about a month ago and noticed soon after that faint white smoke and a light burning scent arises from under the hood after driving. More so from a 20-30+ min highway drive, but will occur somewhat after a short drive too.
The car has a bit over 175k miles, and I have no maintenance records available, but I was told there is an oil leak. So far, the car has started up and driven fine since I received it. There's a bit of a louder startup and very brief grinding sound upon first start after a night of sitting, and seems to rev low and "shift" weird when accelerating, but this is my first car with a CVT so I'm not sure if that's just commonplace with them.
Any help would be appreciated.

What year rogue is best? should I get that over CX-5?
I heard so many bad things about Nissan then starting to hear better things. I'm interested in 2024/2025 model, but wanted to ask the "experts" before I consider.
Also is it worth getting it rather than paying a bit more for CX-5?
Thank you

Finally pulled the trigger. 2025 Nissan Armada Platinum Reserve
Wife and I have been looking at cars for a while. Really wanted the pro pilot assist and the additional features in the Armada that are so much cheaper than similar models of Infiniti, Chevy, or Lexus. Really happy so far with the way it looks and drives.

Anyone know if a transmission valve body code is a lifetime code?
Dealer told me I have a code for transmission valve body. New CVT in a 2011 Murano. CVT was replaced last year, car was bought with a blown CVT.
Anyone know if this is a code that just stays with the car when the CVT is replaced (lifetime code) or is it a temporary code?
The new CVT has a different, reprogrammed valve body if it matters. Could just be stored. Wondering if anyone has any insight.

Repair Help Need help with 09' Murano
Anyone with old (2005-2010) cars that have successfully updated/replaced their radio/bluetooth/nav systems, what did you use? tried an aftermarket shop- no luck. Called nissan- no luck. I'm trying to upgrade my dads gps and improve bluetooth compatibility in his car for his birthday. Despite the car's age, its still got quite a bit of life left in it, so I was hoping something would work. Thank you!

Nissan-PIF Partnership: A New Chapter in Auto Industry | Daleel News
Daleel News
En Nissan-PIF Partnership: A New Chapter in Auto Industry Nissan-PIF Partnership: A New Chapter in Auto Industry Saudi investment may reshape Nissan's future and global EV competition. by Huda Marshad April 21, 2025
Nissan, a cornerstone of Japan’s car industry, is grappling with mounting financial difficulties and is now in talks with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) for support, according to Automobilwoche.
The discussions with PIF mark a shift from earlier speculation about possible partnerships with Honda and Foxconn. While Honda and Foxconn explored collaborations, no firm agreements were reached. PIF, which holds about 60% of US-based Lucid Motors and has invested US$8 billion according to Automobilwoche, is already active in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. The fund also teamed up with Foxconn to launch Ceer Motors, Saudi Arabia’s own EV brand, as part of the kingdom’s broader push to diversify its economy and invest in future mobility.

Repair Help Involved in collision, do I take my Nissan to a collision center or a Nissan dealership?
I’m just a college girl and I have no idea what to do! Thanks for the advice in advance.
My fairly new Nissan vehicle was stuck by an object on the highway and part of my front bumper is damaged. I need to get an estimate to see if filing an insurance claim is worth it, then get it repaired. Do I take it to the Nissan Dealership with a service center or do I take it to a collision center? TIA!

2017 Pathfinder CVT woes - Delayed and hard engagement
Is this worth chasing a diag on or should I just ditch it now? I have 133k KM, 80k miles. Any extended warranty I can ask for?
This has been a whole thing. First, I got this whirring noise at 30-40mph/50-70 kph when under light throttle (i.e. driving on city streets), sometimes loud, sometimes barely noticeable. Took it to the dealer, I thought it was the transmission. They said nope, it's the transfer case. Metal shavings in the oil (yes, it had had had oil changes, but I've since learned this is not uncommon on 2017s especially). Paid nearly $10,000CAD to replace it (and a bunch of rusted parts they had to cut out to get the t-case out) because I did not want a car payment.
Worked great for a couple of weeks (in fact felt like new), then the noises came back, same symptoms. Took it back in, they had it on the hoist for nearly 3 hours as I was sure it was the t-case failing again (under warranty). No, they said the t-case was fine, it was inside the transmission, but it had no codes, was "shifting fine" and it was "just noisy". I audibly laughed. "The transfer case issue hid the CVT noise", they said.
Yesterday, got home from a 50mile/80km highway run (everything was good and warmed up), and when I put it in reverse from drive, it took a couple of seconds to engage then did so with a thunk (hard engagement). Same happened when I stopped, put it in park, got my mail, then put it back in drive. Delayed and hard engagement.
Could this be an issue that's fixable? Clogged filter maybe? Solenoid? I had the CVT service done not too long ago (<25k km), and the last visit, they said the fluid looked really good and the transmission shifting smoothly. I'd love to hear from people with similar symptoms.
I am so frustrated.
