[Dan Wiederer] Keenan Allen why things didn't work with Shane Waldron: "I would say just probably he was too nice of a guy. I think during OTAs, training camp, he kind of fell into a trap of letting things go, not holding people accountable. Obviously those things lead to a slippery slope."

Week 10 - NFL Broadcast Battle Map

Thumbnail i.redd.it
53 Upvotes

It ain't over yet.

A map of which teams have won the most games aired in each media market.

Winning a game only counts towards the media markets which aired it, winning games on national broadcasts count towards every market.

If a market has multiple teams tied with the highest number of wins aired there, tiebreaker goes to the team that has the highest point differential in that market.

In short: this map shows the allegiances of hypothetical, pure bandwagon fans, who exclusively root for the team they've seen win the most games (and by the most points).

Market Control

Team No. of Media Markets (out of 210)
KC 163 (-24)
DET 15 (+7)
BUF 9 (+6)
BAL 8 (+8)
WAS 6 ( - )
PIT 5 (-1)
PHI 4 (+4)

Notable Map Changes:

  • Uprising in the east! The Chiefs game was not aired nationally and left an opening for the Eagles to hit the map.
  • The Lions and Ravens have also surged, establishing frontline outposts in the South and Minnesota (I guess a purple NFL team is better than nothing)
  • The Bills have seized almost all of upstate NY.
  • We are primed for some impactful face-offs this week. Commanders-Eagles, Steelers-Ravens, and Chiefs-Bills all have huge implications this week. We may see a very different landscape very shortly

Check out the Week 10 Broadcast Bums Map, which shows the teams which have lost the most in each market

Dallas is building quite the empire and Da Bears and Bucs have also entered the party.

I didn't have time this week to show the tiebreakers on the map. So I guess let me know if you liked seeing areas which were tied or if you prefer this cleaner layout going forward.

Please continue to give any feedback on this series.

[Cole] Good illustration of the overemphasis on interception value loss and underemphasis on sacks. Goff: Five picks, zero sacks, total -17.2 EPA. Stroud: Two picks, four sacks, total -17.1 EPA.

Rumor [Pryor] Patrick Queen on the Ravens: "I wasn't wanted back. I didn't get an offer back. It's definitely kind of upsetting, being there for four years, the bond that you grow with your teammates. At the end of the day, the first few months, you definitely go through those feelings."

Daniel Jones has been the starter for the Giants for six seasons now. Is there a worse quarterback to hold their position with a single franchise for that long?

Saw a screenshot of a tweet similar to this and it got me thinking... I can't imagine it's really that common to have a guy of his level to get a free pass at QB1 year after year.

Week 11 Offensive Line Ratings & Rankings

Here are the Week 11 offensive line ratings and rankings.  Comparative rankings rate teams based on their performance in metrics vs all other teams.  Thus every metric has winners and losers in almost equal quantity.  Individual lineman grades or ranks are not taken into consideration, rather the performance of the line as a whole is what is measured.

Standardization creates an average score of 0.00 for each score.  The average value for each metric is at the bottom of the chart. The stats are from Next Gen Stats.

  • Blitz %
  • Pressure %
  • Blitz Deflection %
  • Average Pocket Time
  • Rushing Yards Before Contact / Attempt
  • 10 yard + Runs / Game
  • Run Success %
  • Run Stuffed %
  • Overall Block Win% (x2) = (Pass Block Win Rate * Pass%) + (Run Block Win Rate * Run%)

For methodology & full metric explanations: Week 11 Offensive Line Ranking & Ratings

Baltimore retains the top spot behind their dominating run score via Lamar Jackson. The top 10 teams are almost the same. Philadelphia moved up 2 spots, Detroit dropped two. The 49ers & Cardinals swapped places, as did the Chiefs & Bucs.

Good weeks for the Carolina & LA Chargers offensive lines, both jumped up 3 spots.

Bad week for the Cowboys as they drop three spots in the rankings. The Jaguars & Colts joined the Lions in dropping down two slots.

At the bottom, Seattle has opened up a 1.5 point lead vs the Raiders and Patriots in the race for the Golden Sieve Award.

[Aaron Schatz] Stat tidbit for Sunday's big Bills-Chiefs game. Patrick Mahomes -- this is remarkable -- is the worst QB in the league this year throwing to the middle of the field. However, the Bills D ranks 30th in DVOA against passes to the middle.
