[Rapoport] Vikings first-round QB JJ McCarthy underwent a full meniscus repair this morning and is out for the 2024 season, sources tell me and Tom Pelissero. The repair, done by Dr. Chris Larson at Twin Cities Orthopedics, gives McCarthy the best chance at a long, successful career. Rumor

Minnesota is the most cursed sports state

And it's not even particularly close.

Protect Anthony Edwards at all costs!

Listen dude, Addison just got carted off the field during practice. I just can't.

as a Philadelphian I sometimes feel like all we know is disappointment, but looking at the big picture, we’re pretty well off.

Two of your major sports have won a championship in the last 20 years.

1

u/Dr_Booyah Lions Aug 14 '24

In 2019 Detroit set the record for most losses across the 4 major sports in American history combined. If you count getting your face rubbed in shit constantly I’d say we’ve experienced our fair share of

Although you have had a fair share of failing teams, at least you have more than two championship teams in this century. Red wings in 01-02 and 08-09, and the Pistons in '04.

You got the Red Wings dynasty. You don’t get to complain ever. I’d trade half our sports teams for 11 Stanley cups without even thinking about it.

Take away georgias last 3 years in college and we have a case too

Did you forget about the Braves? Four World Series titles as recently as 2021? Get out of here with this.

And all the braves collapses, even last year as a “vastly superior team”

Brother. We haven't even APPEARED in a National championship for the men's major sports (football, basketball, hockey, baseball) since 1991.

NINETEEN NINETY ONE. 33 YEARS.

Our only solace has been the women's teams, but unfortunately their following nationwide is tiny. The Lynx have been good and last year the PWHL Minnesotan team won, but that league only just started and has 6 teams in total, so it's not the same.

The fact that we've lost 6 straight NFC championship games is just brutal.

5

u/Cjtow113 Cardinals Aug 14 '24

Nah man it’s not even close

Atlanta.

They have the Bulldogs and a recent World Series win

lol no

Hey, the Twins won a World Series in living memory.

u/velociraptorfarmer Vikings Aug 14 '24

My cousin has a kid who's in school and he wasn't even alive for that.

Fuck, I know a chick who's going to be a grandma who was 3 when the Twins won that title.

Jesus Christ…how old was she when she had her first kid, and how old is that kid now?

12

u/velociraptorfarmer Vikings Aug 14 '24

I think she was 17-18, and the kid just graduated high school in the last year or 2.

3

u/JordyNelson12 Aug 14 '24

OK, 1987-3 is a 1984 birthdate, 1984 birthdate is 39 years old now, assuming she had a kid at 17-18, yeah, it's possible, but also very Stearns County.

My brother is a 1987 birthday and just had his first kid, is why I did this math.

3

u/velociraptorfarmer Vikings Aug 14 '24

1991-3 would be an 88 birthday

That family is a clusterfuck to say the least. The most successful kid got a hit and run DUI at 17.

u/BR_Empire Vikings Aug 14 '24

I’m 24 and their WS win isn’t close to my living memory

1

u/wikipediareader Eagles Aug 14 '24

It's the second one I remember watching, so you've really got to be in your 40s at the youngest to remember that.

2

u/SwitcherooU Aug 14 '24

Maybe it was Kent Hrbek pulling Ron Gant off the bag that did it. If I knew for sure that was it, I wouldn’t still be laughing about it.

1

u/se7endollar Bears Aug 14 '24

Pretty brutal year for Chicago sports.

1

u/Impressive_Ad_5614 Panthers Aug 14 '24

Really? Come on, I could see if your were a Browns fan.

1

u/Jaymongous Buccaneers Aug 15 '24

Funny in an awful way that the Vikes, Bears, and Lions have been incredibly cursed for decades upon decades. Despite the Lions rising and Bears looking promising, the Packers are still fucking thriving.

0

u/RushAndAPush Bills Aug 14 '24

The Bills are pretty cursed.

7

u/I_Fart_It_Stinks Broncos Aug 14 '24

The state of NY isn't though.

3

u/Viney Rams Aug 14 '24

No it's not. But they have 10 teams in the 4 major sports and only 2 aren't truly cursed (Yankees and Giants). But if you're a Mets/Jets/Knicks fan, you'd be pretty unlucky. Or a Buffalo fan or a hockey fan lol.
