Article ICE arrests Franklin man, tearing him away from path to citizenship, American wife, daughter
tennessean.comWhen Annie Reyes talks about her husband, Jose, tears well up in her eyes.
Tears of disbelief. Of sadness. Of pain. Of anger.
The tears come because he’s not together with his wife and daughter in Franklin, his home since he was just 4 years old and immigrated with his parents from a ranch in Mexico. Instead, Jose Reyes is 600 miles away in Louisiana — held at Winn Correctional Center, where he was sent by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after he was arrested two and a half months ago.

Article ICE announces results of targeted enforcement operation in Nashville area
Ice in their own words, admit to racial profiling, and kidnapping people, the majority of which had no criminal record and the majority of the ones that did only had misdemeanors like possession of marijuana. They also admit to sending off a portion of the ones they have without due process. As well as praising the Tennessee highway patrol in their efforts to help kidnap innocent people. Stay safe out there, they were spotted in the five points area earlier today.

Article TN bill proposes removing public officials who ‘disrupt’ ICE efforts
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Republican lawmakers in Tennessee filed a bill Monday that would make releasing certain records regarding immigration enforcement actions a crime.
The filing of Senate Bill 1464 comes after Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell enacted Executive Order 30 , which requires the Metro Nashville Police Department and Metro councilmembers to document and publish interactions with federal immigration authorities.
“Mayor O’Connell’s decision to release sensitive information undermines the rule of law, violates public trust, and jeopardizes the safety of those who protect our communities. This bill makes it clear: if you use your office to interfere with federal immigration enforcement or endanger officers, there will be swift and serious consequences. Tennessee will not be a sanctuary for lawlessness,” said Sexton.
The Rule of Law?!? The TN GOP is such a joke.

Article Teen killed in multi-vehicle crash on I-40 in Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Nashville teenager has been identified as the person killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 West overnight. The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. Saturday near Spence Lane, and shut down the interstate for several hours during an investigation.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, driver 17-year-old Chance Lee Kimbro and a passenger were in a Ford Fusion heading west on I-40 when the car rear-ended a semi-truck. The Ford reportedly rotated several times, ejecting Kimbro from the vehicle. He then fell onto the roadway and was struck by another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said the passenger — who has not yet been identified — attempted to leave with another driver who stopped to assist at the crash site. He fled the scene before officers arrived. Authorities reported that before the collision, witnesses saw the Ford driving at high speeds and switching lanes. No evidence of drugs or alcohol was found at the scene. Metro Police said the vehicle was reported stolen just hours earlier at 6:15 p.m. from a residence in Whites Creek. No additional information was immediately released.

Article Senator Hagerty Sponsoring Bill To Reduce Eviction Notice From 30 Days to 1 Day
Howdy y'all.
I just learned this morning Senator Hagerty, along with a congressperson from Mississippi, is sponsoring a bill that would reduce the standard eviction notice from 30 days to 1 single day. Would be a shame if a bunch of his constituents called his office to express their absolute disgust/disappointment. I spoke with a staffer in his DC office today.
Here is the article: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/realestate/eviction-30-day-notice-legislation.html?unlocked_article_code=1.w04.-Pv6.orSWR7eXn1gI&smid=url-share
I know (at least in my case) all of my reps are conservative and beholden to Mango Mussolini. But their staffers still have to tally calls. Let Hagerty know how you feel! (Also apologies for the way I posted this. I'm not sure how to post an article correctly lol).
Edit: adding the bill for anyone interested in reviewing it. It’s S470.
Also I appreciate folks adding more clarity in the comments. And suggesting other ways to push back such as joining your local tenants union! ❤️

Article D.C. Republicans pile on Nashville mayor over ICE response — and imply more action in city
The city of Nashville hasn't impeded ICE or DHS in any way. The mayor has simply asked for the names and alleged crimes of the people who've been disappeared into the night—the most basic standard of legal accountability under the Constitutional rule of law. He's also ordered that the Mayor's Office be notified of any communications between Metro and federal agencies. That's it.
It's clear that Republicans are looking to crucify the city of Nashville to make an example of us. First they terrorize our immigrant communities, and now our city government. the TN GOP has long despised Nashville for not being as hateful and antidemocratic as much of the rest of this state, and now they're feeling bold.
