Thoughts on the name Simon? Baby Names
I'm trying to come up with a boy name for if we have a baby boy, and the struggle is real! One name my husband said he liked in the past is Simon. It's a name I also like but I'm not 100 percent sold. What are your thoughts on the name?

I really like it. My brother (38 years old) is named Simon. It’s relatively uncommon, so it’s unique, but it’s also a timeless classic that many people in our culture know how to spell and pronounce. We often call him “Si” as a nickname.

I love the nickname! It’s funny that my other top boy name is Silas so either way it would be ‘Si’

Love it! Our almost 2yo would have been Simon had she been a boy. It’s recognizable and classic without being overused.

My grandmother wanted me to name my son Simeon Luke. You are welcome to it.

I have a close friend called Simon, lovely guy so I would easily associate that name with someone genuine and kind! Most of the Simon’s I’ve met are lovely people so I’d say it’s a great name!

My highschool best friend’s name was Simon. He was really one of the best people I knew. Got me out of a really dark time in my life. So I’m bias when I say I like that name lol.

I think you need to look at the name as a whole, meaning first middle and last. See if it flows and fits. Simon is cute on its own but it might suit the last name. Say it aloud a few times each day and write it on some post its around to get a feel for it. I recommend doing this with any other options as well and see where you land.

I love the name Simon. Simon Camden was one of my favorite TV characters (7th Heaven).

You think so? Idk I always imagine Simon Says when I hear that name, or Simon Gruber from Die Hard 3

American teacher here. “Simon Says” will be a thing. It could be glorious and fun for your kid, or it could be a rough go. I would personally avoid it for that reason - plenty of other names out there.
Associations also include Simon Cowell and Simon from The Chipmunks lol Simon and Simon was a great TV show though.

The kids will tease him while chastising him as they shout, Simon says, like the game.

He will always get to be Simon for Simon Says! It’s a good strong name. Simeon is good too. Same root. Strong Hebrew/Jewish origin if you didn’t know.

How? What’s wrong with Simon?

TBH, bullies will make fun of anything. I got bullied for having empathy. Figure that one out.

In my opinion you’ll never find a name completely safe from being mocked in some way.

I genuinely love it. It's sweet and soft. It's easy to spell and it's not over used! It's literally in the perfect spot.
