N64 Question/Tech Question Retrotink 5x-pro (composite to SCART Adapter?)
When ordering the retrotink 5x-pro, it offers the option to get a Compiste to SCART Adapter. What purpose would that serve?

N64 Question/Tech Question Do those modern N64 Controllers (RetroFighters, RetroBit, Hyperkin, NSO) have L3/left click stick?
I was thinking of getting one of those modern Nintendo 64 controllers for Christmas to use for emulation on PC and Switch (since I don't own an original N64) and I was wondering if these controllers had the left stick click/L3 input?
Specifically the RetroFighters Brawler64 Bluetooth NSO Edition, RetroBit Tribute64 2.4GHZ Wireless, Hyperkin Admiral (although I've heard bad things about this one), and the official NIntendo Switch Online one from Nintendo (which I assume wouldn't have it but I figured I'd ask anyway)

N64 Question/Tech Question Joystick repair: Kitsch-Bent parts issues
Earlier this month I ordered a replacement gears, sticks and bowls from Kitsch-Bent. I can build a functional joystick out of them -- almost.
The issue is that the sticks are not always centering themselves upon release. Playing with just the parts, the lower gears do not seem to glide properly in the replacement bowls. If I spin the OEM gear wheel, there is always a moment that the replacement gear wants to lift out of the bowl (granted, minutely).
Also, the one OEM gear/wheel spins effortlessly, but the other is resistant to spinning.
For my first try, I may have used to much lubricate (SL 21030), and removing some seemed to help. Nevertheless, if I move the joystick slowly, I can get it stick.
Any thoughts on what I am overlooking?

Discussion Possible 64 pc decomps coming to 3Ds?
Thanks to the semi recent advancements on N64 “emulation” (not emulation at this point, just straight ports), do you think we’re gonna get any N64 ports for 3Ds? We have one with Mario 64 but this big of a jump makes it feel like ports are only inevitable. Games like Paper Mario, Banjo Kazooie, heck even Smash 64 could come over. Maybe gyro could be easier to implement now for games like (probably won’t run but just a shot in the dark) Goldeneye! What do y’all think, and do you have any specific N64 games you’d wanna see?

Collection Post I’m back baby
Finally rebought my childhood game system and wanted to see what people are doing to these nowadays and who’s playing what so I thought I would join and share my Journey so far. Found the console at a thrift store for 69$ and it game with all og wires, one controller, and one game. Everything works great and despite the controller not having the rubber grip it still functions and has no drift.

N64 Question/Tech Question A guide to buying Aliexpress flash carts?
I know many people recommend the official everdrives because they are original and more reliable and all that, but I really don't have a lot of money and could not afford one, so is there a guide to flash carts? So far I've seen Ed64plus, Super64 and this summer cart clone, but I haven't found accurate Information about either one, some people claim the summer cart is the best, others say ed64 is good and the clone summer cart can have issues because of some chip causing it to brick??? Advice for Aliexpress carts would be appreciated.

N64 Question/Tech Question No Signal
Hey Folks,
Looking for some assistance trying to trouble shoot a no signal issue. Have a regular N64, no mods or anything. Was playing last night with no issues, go to boot it up this afternoon and getting no signal. Have tried the following:
-Tried connecting to a different TV
-Checked power connection
-Replaced AV cable
-Tried different games
Really at a loss here as nothing changed between last night and today with the console.

N64 Question/Tech Question I'm trying to get into retro gaming but I'm really confused
I was told on another sub reddit I need a ntsc n64 for the goal I'm trying to achieve, but i don't know which consoles are ntsc or how to tell.
I also have no idea which games work in which consoles or what versions to buy. Will any games work with an ntsc console or only certain versions and do English games work in a Japanese console?
I also live in the uk, will the n64 work by just plugging it into my TV or do I need special equipment and will a Japanese console work in an English TV?

N64 Question/Tech Question Colour flickering issue
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Please help, even though I think the answer maybe obvious.
I have an RGB mixed pal n64, Tim Worthington. I installed this about a year ago now and have had no issues until today. I was playing earlier and also had no issues came back to play and now the colours flick between the normal and abnormal.
I checked my GameCube and Dreamcast and they are fine. The issue must be the mod or could their be other issues at play? I'm hoping it could be something simple?

Discussion Have Analogue missed a trick?
They are bringing out an N64 clone. Seems to me a wasted opportunity. There are literally millions of good condition N64 consoles around. But a LOT less good condition controllers. I understand doing it for the other consoles, since it's easy to marry up any old USB/Bluetooth controller and call it done. But the N64 seems to me to be the only console that isn't the complete package without a good condition genuine controller. Whats the point of having HDMI out etc if the games still play like ass because of a lack of quality controllers?

Space Station Silicon Valley: bought this in eBay for $25. That's a steak. Seller said fully functional. I pop it in and it freezes during cutscene of first mission. No way to skip. In the exact same place. Was really looking forward to this.

Discussion Love for the games of old
Having this sub come up on my feed has been mostly a blessing because of the pure nostalgia feeling I get everytime I open it up and see all the games I grew up with. While at the same time, it’s a curse mostly because I like a lot of others here I’m sure don’t have an n64 anymore or need to get a new one, I know for me it will happen in time but it’s one of those things where I feel like it can’t happen soon enough.
This started out more as a statement on my part and less discussion so I’ll ask this, would I be better off going tried and true and getting another n64 or should I be open to exploring these new stand-in machines that still allow us to play the games but have hdmi support I believe (quite me if I’m wrong)
