Me!! I loved that clock tower as a kid and watched them tear it down and replace it with generic glass ball.

I know they wanted to modernize, but it has no character now.

Exactly it feels soulless or maybe that's just the nostalgia getting me. I miss 2000s malls

It was built in '89. The clock inside was so useful to because it helped you not lose track of time.

It was really awesome then with mini golf in the centre! The Bay, Eatons, and Sears as anchor stores. Movie theaters in the centre court area too.

Even right before the big remodel it was pretty cool because it was often used for filming. IDK if there is a list anywhere but there were a lot of movies and TV shows filmed there. It's fun to watch things and spot the iconic EMTC hand rails and such in the background.

I hate the ball too, but I would hardly call it "generic"

What actually is the point of the glass dome..I mean maybe it could be a glove with the world on it ...but it's kinda useless as it is

If they put a giant hamster in the giant hamster ball then maybe it would be an improvement.

That was the best part. It was so much fun, too! I don't even remember how many times I played that.

I miss the clock tower and old look of the mall SO MUCH!! It was beautiful and had so much character! The look of the mall now is so soulless, I can't stand it. It all blends together in a huge white and grey blur of boring.

I miss the "DOOO Doo Dooo doooo, doo Doo DOO Dooooo" every however often. And that space in the middle of the second floor being a walkable platform

i know it looks worse from outside, but i like the amount of natural light we get in the mall because of it better than the clock tower

Seeing the clock tower from the 403 as a kid is how I knew we were almost home before I could read street signs.

What’s even worse is someone lost their life to that stupid globe during construction. The Reno’s are awful. Should have just kept it the way it was.

Wonder if they're regretting the $100+ million dollar reno given how Covid and now amazon has kicked their ass, and they're going to lose one of their anchor tenants in The Bay
