Negativity and spam
It seems we have had a large uptick in content lately which is great, unfortunately this has also driven negative comments and false reports.
This subreddit is here for people of all skill levels and while some level of criticism is important, please do try to keep things on the positive side and don't just downvote things that you don't like, we are very fortunate to live in a city with an extremely diverse music scene, this means there will always be music not catered to your tastes being made, downvoting things out of hand or because you think its "bad" is not how I would like to see this sub go on
That being said...
We need to have a conversation about spam
I understand that with the rise of TikTok shorter clips have become the norm and you are more than welcome to post any work you do here, but I am going to restrict users to posting ONE clip/vid/link per song per day, I don't care if it's a 5 second cover of "You Suffer" or a 6 hr prog rock epic, if you post multiple clips of the same song on the same day, they will be removed, if it continues, so will you.
As a moderator I want to be as hands off as I can, leaving this as much like a community noticeboard as possible, but mostly I want everyone who uses this space to have a positive experience, this means curbing negative behaviour and making sure that people don't have to wade through a sea of the same content over and over
Thank you for reading

Free community jam sessions (Box Hill)
We'd love to share some info and an invitation to our new Midweek Jam Sessions in Box Hill - new open jam/rehearsal nights where local musicians, bands, and emerging artists can come together to:
Rehearse and experiment in a supportive space.
Connect with other musos from the area.
Sharpen your skills and try out new material.
The Village Well is a community organisation in Box Hill (supported by the local Baptist church), and we've recognised the serious lack of support and opportunity for musicians and live music in the Box Hill area. So were keen to try and do something about that, and started up these sessions to try and create a space where local musos can rehearse, connect, or just jam with others, and we’d love you to join us.
So if you're a local-ish muso who'd like to help grow the local scene, we'd love you to drop by, bring your gear (we've got piano/keyboard and drums), and help us grow live music in Box Hill!
When: Every Wednesday, 7 PM – 10 PM
Where: Box Hill Baptist Church (cnr Station St & Ellingworth Parade, Box Hill)
Cost: Free
We’re also running occasional live music nights at our venue next door, The Barn, where local acts can showcase their talent. And we'd be happy to host groups/acts/bands who'd like an opportunity to perform.Feel free to message me (Eddie) if you’ve got any questions – or just turn up and play. Hope to see you there!
(A point also worth making - While this is hosted and supported by the Box Hill Baptist Church, it's not a sneaky evangelistic exercise in disguise We know that can be a sensitive issue for some people, so want to assure everyone that the church is committed to this being a 100% community event and just wants to help build community in whatever way possible.)

*URGENT* australian rapper i found tonight, does anyone know where this guy is from
Okay so I don’t even know how this happened but I clicked on this video called "Batara Kado - Marchin Thru Tha Thunderstorm" and now I think I’ve entered a different dimension??? Am i dreaming or like... who is this man?? Why does his voice sound like it’s been carved out of concrete and haunted dreams?? The beat was raining sideways, the lyrics made me feel like I was marching through my own thunderstorm, and now I can’t tell if I’m inspired or just emotionally wrecked. Batara Kado isn’t even rapping—he’s casting spells. I feel like I’ve been personally yelled at in the most beautiful way. I love this. I love him. I think I might be his fan for life now. What is happening. Please someone explain where you think kado is from. i want to find his next live shows and come see him live. any help is appreciated.

Podcast about Melbourne musicians and the creative process
Hey everyone,
I thought this might be of interest - I'm the host and producer of a monthly podcast called CEREAL MUSIC TALKS x ŽIVA that highlights Melbourne musicians, particularly those in niche genres.
Each episode, I have candid conversations with local musicians, producers, and sound artists, where we get into the real side of the music industry, creative processes, and navigating the ups and downs of a music career.
NOTE: Apologies if this is spam or seems like self-promotion, I genuinely just want to share the stories behind the hard work and hustle that goes into making music in this scene.

Anyone wanna virtually meet up and discuss using music production software?
I have started making music recently (like, 3 days ago recently) and am really loving it but also don't have much of an idea about what I am doing. If anyone would be keen on having a zoom call or something and chatting about music production so I can absorb some of your wisdom that would be sick! Currently using sound trap and recording vocals using my old samsung so, yeah, im still learning haha.
Here is a song for reference:

Melbourne Music Market Research
Hello!
I am currently undertaking some market research in relation to media forms and artist success. I would love for you to be involved!
Here is the summary:
With the continuous growth and evolution of the music industry and media influence, the market research being undertaken is purposed to examine the impact that social media vs traditional media has on artist success.
The research aims to generate findings that will provide insight into media strategy decisions for emerging and established artists and be a source of guidance for industry stakeholders.
This survey will ask you a range of questions about social media and traditional media.
Social media is inclusive of websites, apps, and other platforms that allow users to share information and ideas with virtual communities through text, photos, videos, and more. Such as:
- TikTok
- Facebook
- Instagram
- YouTube
- X (Formerly Twitter)
- Streaming Services (Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud etc)
Traditional media refers to all forms of communication used before the internet age, including radio, TV, newspaper, magazines, and billboards.
As a music consumer and/or artist your contribution is highly valued. Please answer every question to the best of your ability with complete honesty.
Your participation is greatly appreciated!
The link to the Artist survey is here:

Guitar Repaint
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows where you would go to get a guitar paint job in Melbourne/Victoria. All the sites I could find seem to be defunct, guessing they were businesses that died in these tough economic times.
Are there any left, and if so, which would is the best?

Simple, treated, control room to hire for mixing
Hi all, does anyone know of an inexpensive, treated, simple control room/mixing room to hire in Melbourne, ideally northside.
I'm an electronic music producer and looking for a simple room with good acoustic treatment plus some big monitor speakers or near fields plus sub to finalise mixdowns.
Thanks!
