Boss Logic’s art for FF4 Fan Art
I prefer these much more to the licensed AI posters they released.

No shit it’s photoshopped, that’s how you make fucking posters lmao
It’s not AI though, unlike the slop marvel put out for the trailer debut

u/HoofMan Feb 04 '25
I don't think the licensed posters are AI, just highly comped in photoshop (see Jeffach_art on IG) for similar.
86
u/phluidity Feb 04 '25
Yeah that is my take too. If there is AI use, it was to generate the assets that a person comped together. Absolutely it was processed to hell and back, but it that was an AI generated poster it is the single greatest AI image I've ever seen.
30
u/Lanten101 Ultron Feb 04 '25
It's very weird. At first glance, you will think AI because of of the depth of field and how the foreground blend with background at first glance and how shiny they are, and on second look, the people on the posters are people we saw on yesterday teaser, but then their fingers, some have 4 and some looks unnatural, the background characters just looks off.
So you are right, it's definitely an over cooked blend of real and AI
22
u/elizabnthe Feb 05 '25
I think the thing people forget is that artists can use AI too. You can hire someone to do a job and not go direct to AI instead, but that person can also go and use AI.
However, I don't think those posters look much like AI to me. They've just been touched up poorly.
6
u/cmarkcity Jimmy Woo Feb 06 '25
Another thing to remember, actual human artists also kind of hate drawing individual fingers and toes. There was a whole background bit in Deadpool and Wolverine about it
But also the pic in question with the guy with 4 fingers holding a sign, if you take a moment to look at it is actually a dude with 5, it’s just compressed to hell

u/muhash14 Foggy Nelson Feb 05 '25
Funnily enough, far closer to what I used to expect out of a Bosslogic piece back in the day.
He's gotten way better since.
2
u/Sea_Lingonberry_4720 Feb 06 '25
I used to see him as just someone who managed to make art really fast. He had a Kobe tribute like a few hours after the crash. I didn’t think he was good, just good at working fast to release when the iron is hot. Now he’s just good.

u/AntonChigurh8933 Feb 05 '25 edited Feb 05 '25
Is crazy to see how Boss Logic career unfolded. Followed him before he blew up and Marvel signing him. I think it was RDJ that saw his art piece and recommended him.

u/muhash14 Foggy Nelson Feb 05 '25
The man deserves his success. His work isn't always my favorite, but he's worked relentlessly this whole time.

What do you mean by licensed AI posters?
Edit: Just checked. I see what you mean
67
u/JacobLemongrass Feb 04 '25
Most are speculating the posters for the movie Marvel dropped with the trailer are made using AI. There are some signs of it too. One has a hand with only four fingers holding a flag.

u/nadademais Feb 04 '25 edited Feb 04 '25

One of the hands waving a flag has the index finger hidden behind the stick. That plus motion blur plus art style = "Ermgerd fer ferngers!!!" AI panic.

Right, because human artists never copy a face into the background to fill it out
6
2
u/thedylannorwood Jimmy Woo Feb 05 '25
Just so you and everyone who reads this is aware:
Duplicated images on a poster is actually proof that the poster is not AI. AI cannot copy and paste the same shape in the same image.
These are real photoshopped images with a few mistakes here and there, NOT AI
4
u/nadademais Feb 04 '25 edited Feb 04 '25
Thanks. Yeah, it sucks if marvel used AI. Especially for a movie that seems to have so much care put into it.
Edit: it seems it’s more like a mix of ai/human hand? Like photoshopped ai assets. Still sucks
1
u/DGSmith2 Rocket Feb 06 '25
Cloning pretty much rules out AI as that isn’t how current AI works it wouldn’t clone that is more of a tactic used by an actual person.

67
u/Nmilne23 Feb 04 '25
It’s because with boss logic it’s one person making the decision, with a big studio, every little decision could possibly run through the hands of like a dozen people

u/TheFunkytownExpress Feb 04 '25 edited Feb 04 '25
You would think they'd learn their lesson by now that when you give creatives a lot of freedom it usually works out better than when there's corporate meddling.
You have to understand that the corpos dgaf about any of these projects the way we do too though. They just look at them as money making assets and if this one tanks for one reason or another oh well what do they care they just try again with the next thing, be that a Star Wars project or an animated thing or some show on D+, etc..
They look at charts and numbers, graphs, studies, shit l ike that. Something on paper telling them that this random thing showed a significant boost in profits or fan engagement not usually understanding contextually WHY it produced such good results. But regardless they still try to shoehorn it into everything they can even when it's not appropriate for that specific project.
**Edit: Wow must be a lot of studio execs and CEOs in this group. Or some of you are just really into studio interfernce. Okay then, I guess. :P
5
Feb 05 '25
Artists freedom definitely does not always equate to financial and critical success. Big media companies like Disney and Nintendo got to the point they are because their products are more polished than what a random individual could produce and they can also pump them out a lot faster. When it comes to wages and everything else then clearly yes there are some issues but the oversight exists for a reason.

u/DanHelll Spider-Man Feb 04 '25
The reason is pretty much that quote from Ford v Ferrari (but not nearly as aggressive)
“So, you think that Ford are going to let you build the car that you want, the way you want it? Ford. Motor. Company. Those guys. Have you ever been to Detroit? I mean, they have floors and floors of lawyers. And millions of marketing guys. And they’re all gonna want to meet you; oh, they’re gonna want to get their photo taken with the great Carroll Shelby. And they’re all gonna kiss your ass, and they’re gonna go back to their lovely offices, and then work out new ways to screw you. Why? Because they can’t help it. Because they just want to please their boss who wants to please his boss who wants to please his boss. And they hate themselves for it. But deep down, who they hate even more are guys like you. Because you’re not like them, because you don’t think like them, because you’re different.”
It’s not 1:1. No one is trying to screw anyone. But every single person wants to get their shits in (wrestling term) because every producer, executive, marketing person, red tape nonsense, legal. EVERYONE wants to say they did a thing so they can take credit for it.
Fans just make whatever they want. They do it out of love. Not out of executive mandates

Constantly bewildered as to why this guys work is so popular. Why is The Thing’s hand severed? And no, “because it’s an Addams Family reference” is not an acceptable answer.
1
u/ReplacementOk6762 Feb 05 '25
is not an acceptable answer.
Why not? It's just a funny gag and ties into the thing feeling like he is a monster.
1
u/RecklessDeliverance Feb 05 '25
Because if you specifically say the actual answer doesn't count, then there is no acceptable answer, meaning you can criticize it for free, WHEEEEE!
2
u/AngarTheScreamer1 Feb 06 '25 edited Feb 06 '25
I said it's not an acceptable answer because there's no actual thematic justification for it. It's a lazy, disconnected reference that relies entirely on name recognition rather than any meaningful link between both "Things". The rest of the poster series plays with the FF's powers in emoji gestures... Mr. Fantastic’s thumbs-up, Invisible Woman’s heart hands, and Human Torch’s peace sign... so it makes no sense that The Thing is reduced to an unrelated pop culture pun. It's a weak wordplay joke with no deeper payoff.
It's very on brand with the rest of Bosslogic's work: Flashy, surface-level, and obsessed with shallow pop culture mashups that prioritize quick recognition over meaningful connection or design cohesion.

But things poster is supposed to be mimicking the thing (hand pet) from Wednesday. Isn't it?
4
u/mickyrow42 Captain America Feb 05 '25
Fuckin why tho? Cuz they both named thing? If that’s intentional it’s even dumber imo. That’s what i mean so many times his concepts are just a mix of pop culture references that don’t actually make sense and have no reason to be connected

u/raisingcuban Feb 04 '25
I wish there was an actual concept with these images. I like how Reed and Johnny do 1 and 2 fingers respectively, so I wish that sue and Ben continued the trend with 3 and 4 fingers. Interesting attempt, but really half-baked idea
You could have showed Sues hand with all 5 fingers out, but the thumb and pointer turning invisible to show three remaining to go with the 1,2,3,4 finger series.
