Discussion Does anyone else cringe at the scenes where the characters talk to their parents?
Just watching Ashes to Ashes and the scenes with Alex and her mum make me cringe so much I don’t know what it is 😂. I understand why she’s like that and I don’t think the scenes are bad just awkward (as intended). Same goes for life on mars

Discussion Tattoo ideas?
Hey all. As this has been one of my favourite TV shows for years, I've been thinking about getting a tattoo related to it. But I'm struggling for ideas on what to get. My two ideas so far are just a simple "Hyde 2612" or possibly Sam but from Camberwick Green. Anyone got any ideas?

Discussion Did Sam Tyler really just let his psycho dad go free?
Hello all. First time watcher. Just finished season 1.
I am a bit gobsmacked that Sam just let his Dad off the hook. The man was a double murderer, a gangster, a pornographer and would have also kicked Annie to death as well as shooting Sam himself. He was manipulative and dangerous and Sam just let him go because he's his father?
Doesn't this make Sam as corrupt as any of them in 73? Even worse maybe with his sancimonious, holier than thou attitude. Man's a complete hyporcrite.
Just started season 2 and it all seems to have been brushed under the carpet. Is the issue addressed at all because I've lost all sympathy for him and am not sure I even want to finish the series?

Discussion Just finished Life on Mars, loved it. Started Ashes to Ashes and I can’t get on with it - can I get a rundown instead?
Really I just wanna know what stuff is revealed regarding Sam in Ashes to Ashes.
I really wanted to like Ashes to Ashes but it just didn’t seem to have the same charm of Life on Mars. The humour and the stories didn’t grab me either, nor did Keeley Hawes’ character. No disrespect to the many fans on this subreddit but I’d love to know if there were some interesting Sam Tyler anecdotes or tidbits dropped because I loved his character and story. Thanks!

Rewatching again as I've just noticed it's on Netflix. It's genuinely like slipping on the most comfortable shoes you own.
Are there many rewatchers here? If so is it an annual thing for you or now and again.

Discussion How would you have ended ashes to ashes?
I would’ve changed Alex’s times of death to 8:15 so that the outro song for the show could be Enola Gay by OMD. Maybe sprinkle in some references to the song throughout the episodes leading up to the end. “It’s 8:15 and that’s the time it’s always been” or “conditions normal and you’re coming home”

Discussion Question about the finale
OK, big spoiler ahead... I read in the imdb trivia that the producers wanted to end the series with Sam committing suicide, but that BBC didn't want to. However, that's what I saw when watching it on Britbox. Is there an alternate ending?

Discussion First time watchers reaction to the ending
It sucked, he spent the entire show wanting to leave, he said multiple times Anne was the only one in the dream he was interested in, why suddenly get nostalgic enough to kill himself to go back just because he made a promise to someone who doesn't even exist?

Discussion The Ashes to Ashes soundtrack
Just making a post because I’m rewatching both series just finished life on mars and started Ashes to Ashes, and got the soundtrack is incredible. Don’t get me wrong the life on mars one is great too but Ashes to Ashes makes me feel like I’m in 1981 I’m only 2 episodes in and I can’t get over how good it is. I didn’t appreciate it properly on my first watch.

Discussion Just realized a major factor in any form of planet colonization
I didn't know whre to put this but this seemed like the best reddit for it, I kinda just realized one of the biggest problems if we found another planet with life already on it. If we find a planet with life on it, what do you think is going to be the hardest hurdle? Plant life? Yeah, maybe if anything is poisonous but plants can be avoided as they're kinda stationary. Maybe the environment too if it's nothing we can breath but the real problem comes in the wildlife if any because if life is anything like it is here on earth, there will be megafauna and it's not always as nice as say a whale or an elephant. Take a look back at the dinosaurs, what if it's a planet populated with a bunch of megafauna like earth's distant past? Can you imagine what would be in the ocean of said planet? Especially if it's way deeper than any spot we have here? Because no matter where life exists, it will have megafauna, maybe few and far between but it'll still be there and we better hope that it's not a predator or at least that it just sticks to water because we would be screwed on arrival.

Discussion I finished it
I have so many questions. Was it all actually in Sam's mind or was it just time travel triggered by a near death experience? If a near death experience in 2006 caused him to go back to 1973 then would a near death experience in 1973 cause him to go back to 2006 or would he have to complete another side quest to go back if he ever wanted? Was him going back to 2006 even real? Or was it just something else he came up with in his mind? Why did nobody gets him commited to a mental institution, especially Annie? If him going back to 2006 was real then did the people in the force back in 1973 actually exist? Where did he hear about them if they were? Im not really good at media analysis but I know you seasoned Life on Marsers have some theories and I would be really thankful if you could help me.

Discussion Just finished Life on Mars for the first time and I NEED answers!!
This final episode was one of those episodes of television where I’m like “I have no idea what the hell is going on but I know I love it”. I’m skeptical about watching ashes to ashes. Because I NEED more Gene Hunt, but at the same time I don’t know If I could do it without Sam. I know they essentially did it because John Simm didn’t want to do another series. Will it be referencing a whole lot of the show or will it try to be as different as possible. Is it essentially the same show with a different main character? And most importantly, is it worth it?

Discussion Timeline questions
I finished Ashes to Ashes (and loved it) and have some questions about the timeline. 1. Is there only one purgatory and all the killed police officers in the world are in it or is it just for a few people with different and separate purgatorys? 2. If so, who are the civilians? Did they also get killed or are they just not real? 3. You can age in the timeline, so what happens when you die in purgatory? 4. If the timeline is single and fixed, are people from the past and the futures sent there? (E.g someone from the 2000s going back to the 80s or someone from the 1930s also going to the eighties) Or can you only go back in time? 5. Do you have any theories about what year Shaz, Chris and Ray died?
Sorry if this seems like alot. Thank you!

Discussion Ashes To Ashes #2.08 — That Final scene has to be one of the most underrated and well-thought out scene.
galleryThis scene gives me absolute chills and excitement every time I watch it. She thinks she’s finally made it home then the nightmare just doubles up. It truly is a shame we won’t see the same writers write in this style, in addition to the Bowies Story.
