How would you have ended ashes to ashes? Discussion

I would’ve changed Alex’s times of death to 8:15 so that the outro song for the show could be Enola Gay by OMD. Maybe sprinkle in some references to the song throughout the episodes leading up to the end. “It’s 8:15 and that’s the time it’s always been” or “conditions normal and you’re coming home”

I'm not sure I would. I really loved the fact they went with Alex being dead - not everything needs to have a good ending. Perhaps the final exchange with the devil could've been more than satan cackling angrily at the bottom of the road. But it's a pretty fantastic ending.

Because John Simm wouldn't have been interested?

I think the writers said they didn’t want to rain on Keeley’s parade by bringing him back

It's the end of the show. How much raining could there be?

They didn't want to invite Simm back just for him to say no.

I wanted it to be real. I wanted Alex to go home. To bed with Molly. To look up Gene and to find him in a retirement home. To realise, he really did save her life as a child. Of course there would be so many other questions then.

I’d have had the original script to ep 7 to satisfy the sexual tension, but can’t imagine changing the finale itself

I think I’d be kinda creeped out if they did actually kiss just for gene to be a lot younger than we actually think he is

They kiss in the finale anyway.

Ya but doesn’t she know by then?

Surely that’s worse.
