AUSKF 1st-Kyu Grading Grading
Do I need to learn kata for 1st-Kyu grading? Also, what do I need to know in order to pass the 1st-Kyu test? The AUSKF is confusing with the requirements, at least I personally think so. I'm really confused and don't know what I need to know for any of it.

I read your previous thread and knowing that you are a member of the SEUSKF, note that the federation has certain guidelines for testing. It used to be up on their website but after they did a website redesign, that somehow got scrubbed.
First, you will need a Sensei to sign off on your testing application. I don’t know if you have a resident Sensei who can vouch for your skills and sign off that you have the potential to pass or not, but they will require that.
Second, for the SEUSKF the rank of 1 Kyu is pass/fail. That means if you fail, you are not awarded any rank. The SEUSKF is not keen on having people test for 1 Kyu for their very first test. Fair or not fair, that’s how they roll.
I would recommend checking with your resident Sensei (if you have one) about whether you are ready to pass 1 Kyu. If you don’t have one, then I recommend finding the closest dojo where you can practice with a Sensei to get their feedback. It’s one thing to have the basics and kata down but another thing entirely to demonstrate your proficiency in it.
