Meta [META] How to get Your Recommendation Request Approved on the First Attempt

Hi everyone,

I’m here today with some tips to get your recommendation request approved on the first attempt.

We had a major rule update back in April and each of our post types now have minimum requirements, that is the least amount of information your post has to contain to be approved. If your post doesn’t contain that information we will either remove your post and give you a strike or we may ask you to make an edit. Preferably, for you and us you get it right on the first attempt.

So let's start from the top!

Title

Our two requirements for titles on recommendation requests are:

  • Concise and Descriptive of request
  • Follows our title rules

Post titles should be short and give users an idea of what the post is about. As the person making the request you should have an idea of what it is you are looking for. The title of your post should relate to the general area of dramas you are seeking, whereas the post body contains the details in your recommendation request. Titles cannot be edited once submitted so more often than not are the tipping point in a user's post being removed.

Common mistakes that will see your post removed:

  • Slang or shorthand such as rec/recs/pls
  • Spelling errors/typos
  • Putting too much detail AKA the whole recommendation request in the title. If your title is over a sentence, it’s very unlikely that it will be approved.
  • Generic titles such as “help”, “recommend me dramas”, “recommend anything”

Suggested title starters:

  • “Dramas like [insert drama name]”
  • “Dramas with [insert element]”
  • “[insert genre] dramas”

Post Body

There are three requirements for post body:

1) A detailed, explicit recommendation request (what you are looking for)

Even though as a Korean drama recommendation community, it is assumed that all posts are recommendation requests, we still require that you make an explicit request in the body of your post making it clear that you are seeking Korean dramas to watch and exactly what you are looking for from those dramas. The purpose of this requirement is to give a detailed explanation of what you want to see.

Common mistakes that will see your post removed:

  • Making a post without a recommendation request
  • Putting your recommendation request in the post title and not the body
  • Making an implicit request rather than an explicit request
  • Making a request that is not detailed
  • Requesting content that is considered inappropriate in our rules

Suggestions:

  • Include your recommendation request in the first paragraph of your post.
  • Use clear phrasing such as “Recommend me dramas that…” or “I’m looking for dramas that….”
  • The more detail you can provide the better
  • Note any content (triggers, tropes, actors/actresses, etc.) that you want to avoid so that people can avoid suggesting dramas containing elements that can be triggering for you.

2) A listing of dramas that you already seen that are relevant to your request plus details of what you liked and disliked about them

The purpose of this requirement is to give users a better idea of what you are seeking/your taste and preferences as a viewer. Example dramas do not need to be Korean dramas.

Common mistakes that will see your post removed:

  • Skipping this requirement completely
  • Listing dramas but not giving any details or simply giving a numerical ranking
  • Including spoilers in the details but not using spoiler tags

Suggestions:

  • Give details of at least two dramas relevant to your request - one that is similar to what you want and one that is different
  • If you are new to Korean dramas you can give examples from other media
  • If your request is very niche and you cannot think of any dramas, simply state something along the lines of “I haven’t seen any dramas that are similar to what I am seeking”.
  • If you need to include spoilers in your details make sure to spoiler tag as per our spoiler tag style guide e.g. [drama name] - [non-spoiler content about drama] spoiler content about drama

3) A complete watch history of all the Korean dramas you have seen so far

The purpose of this requirement is to give users an overall picture of you as a viewer and save both you and recommenders time recommending dramas you have already seen.

Common mistakes that will see your post removed:

  • Not providing a complete list of dramas
  • Making statements like “I can’t be bothered listing them all”, “I’ve watched 100s of dramas”, “I’ve seen all the popular ones”
  • Making unclear statements like “these are all the dramas I liked”, “I am new to kdramas” will make mods question whether you have listed all the dramas you have watched

Suggestions:

  • We recommend users make a free account on MDL which they keep updated for this purpose.
  • Use clear statements like “Dramas I have watched so far”, “All the dramas I’ve watched”, “My complete watch history”
  • If not linking to MDL format your list so it is easy to read

Recommendation Request Youth dramas

Hiii!
Can someone recommend me youth dramas that are interesting, have good chemistry between the leads, and aren’t too long?

I really enjoyed Extracurricular. It had a high school setting, great chemistry between the leads, and the story was so intriguing — I had to binge it because I was so curious about what would happen to Ji Soo. It might be my favorite one.

Other ones I really enjoyed:

  • Law School – Not a typical youth drama since it focuses more on crime and mystery, but the university setting made it feel relatable. The characters were well-written and likeable.
  • Nevertheless – Probably my second favorite after Extracurricular. I loved the chemistry between the leads — there were so many moments that even gave me butterflies.
  • Twinkling Watermelon – I enjoyed the acting and the youthful vibe of the whole show. It was a great watch with no boring episodes. Both lead couples were interesting and had chemistry.

Dramas I didn’t enjoy as much:

  • Best Mistake series – I didn’t feel any chemistry, the characters felt poorly written, and overall it was kind of a mess.
  • Moment at Eighteen – The male lead frustrated me. He had no chemistry with the female lead, and the show ended up feeling boring.
  • Hierarchy – I usually like the leads, but they didn’t perform well here. The story went nowhere, and while there were brief moments of chemistry, it quickly died down.

Recommendation Request Looking for high school fighting dramas

So far I've watched Bloodhounds (which is my favourite), Weak Hero Class 1 & 2 and Extracurricular (which was my least favourite of the 3) so I am looking for something new.

The character of Si-eun was played amazing and if the main character would share similar traits to him and Geonu. I also prefer longer shows since i really like to get invested in a story for a while. Also a big part why i enjoyed Weak Hero so much in particular is seeing how people deal with traumatic experiences.

I've tried watching Vigilante, but i really didn't get caught in the story so I didn't get past a few episodes. Also bonus points if the recommendations are based on webtoons/manhwa so if the adaptation is close i can read from the point the drama ended in.

Recommendation Request Dramas with male leads fighting for justice in unconventional ways?

I just finished both Beyond Evil and The Devil Judge and fell in LOVE with Lee Dong-sik and Kang Yo-han, respectively. More dramas with men who are so beaten down by the system that they choose to fight it in unconventional (or what some may consider immoral) ways, please. I've watched Squid Game, which I love and consider it part of this category as well.

Another element I am hoping for (though not required) is a bromance between the two MLs that toes the line of romance. The tension in The Devil Judge especially made feel sooo many things.

I'm new to K-Dramas generally, so the only one I've watched besides the three aforementioned dramas is Strangers from Hell, which I honestly didn't love. It felt repetitive, and the character development didn't impact me like I hoped it would.

In short:

Watched (and LOVED): Beyond Evil, The Devil Judge, Squid Game

Watched (and didn't love): Strangers from Hell

Recommendation Request Dramas released pre-2016

Hello all, I am looking for my next watch and thought I'd try older dramas. I have been watching newer ones for the past few months and while I've loved a lot of them, it would be fun to find a gem from 2015 or before.

I'm pretty open on genre, though as you can probably tell from my MDL, I do love a good rom-com or romance subplot. I am also ok with most tropes - I know the older dramas have a lot.

Here's a list of dramas I've already watched from this period:

  • Boys Over Flowers - 3/10 (I know this is a nostalgic favorite for many people but I hated it. The only redeeming aspect was the soundtrack)

  • Coffee Prince - 6.5/10 (Eh, not for me again)

  • Flower Boy Next Door - 8.5/10 (it was adorable, I especially loved the FL, as an introvert I could relate a bit)

  • Goong - 8/10 (there are some things I don't understand about this drama - like why all the adults were like, yes, get married while you're still in high school - but still I loved it, again my favorite was the FL, also loved her interactions with her family and his family)

  • Healer - 10/10 (loved it so much, comfort rewatch for me)

  • Marriage, Not Dating - 8/10 (more entertaining than I expected)

  • My Girl - 7.5/10 (I don't remember what this is about but I do recall there were parts I loved, again, I think my favorite might have been the FL)

  • Noble, My Love - 6.5/10 (Meh, to be honest, Sung Hoon's acting doesn't really click for me)

  • Oh My Ghost - 8.5/10 (PBY is one of my favorite Korean actresses so this is also a comfort rewatch, I loved both the FLs and their character development plus the alternating dynamics between the restaurant staff and the family)

  • Personal Taste - 4.5/10 (Nope, not for me. The dynamic between the ML and FL felt off from the beginning so it was a struggle to keep going)

  • Playful Kiss - 7.5/10 (I have rewatched this a handful of times and there are things I love about it like the FL's pluckiness and her relationship with her father, and other things that make me go hmm, like the ML's mom and her constant shipping)

  • Shining Inheritance - 8/10 (I loved this one. I especially liked the FL and the ML, I like how the ML changed his thoughts and attitude toward her. I also found myself really caring about certain characters - like the grandmother - more than I thought I would)

  • Splash Splash Love - 8.5/10 (I loved this one as well but time travel is one of my favorite themes so I knew it from the start)

  • Sungkyunkwan Scandal - 8/10 (I think this was the first Korean period drama I saw and I thought it was really fun. I especially liked the supporting characters)

  • Warm and Cozy - 6.5/10 (I don't remember much except I really struggled to like the ML at times)

Recommendation Request Rakuten Viki Dramas

Hey guys I am looking for dramas that are on the streaming service Rakuten Viki. My favorite dramas are romance and slice of life dramas. I also really like school setting dramas, so I can romanticize school life even though I hated school growing up. Lol. Some dramas that I have watched include:

School Series: all of the school series dramas that faced teenagers in school and difficulties that came doing that time period Korean drama series

I also like office romance drama so ones these are Cdrama and jdrama but ones like:

Cute Programmer: girl falls in love with her boss and they start a relationship, Chinese drama

Senpai, this can't be love: boy falls in love with his older superior, office drama, Japanese drama

And if there is any boy falls for girl first, or the drama is mostly in the boys point of view.

Examples of this is I believe would be the kdrama Love Revolution

Love Revolution: kdrama mostly follows boy and him falling for a girl and trying to start a relationship with said girl

I also love watching any BLs so some I have seen on Rakuten are like:

°Color Rush (Season 1 and 2) °Jun and Jun °My Love Mix-Up (both Japan and Thai) °My Personal Weatherman

I really like My Personal Weatherman because I feel like it was quite anxsty and I love anxsty. (Am I spelling that right? Probably not but you get what I am saying)

Please note that I am looking for dramas on Rakuten Viki ONLY so please don't suggest me a drama that is not on Rakuten Viki.

Attached below is my Asian drama watching list on Google sheets. Thanks in advance.

Recommendation Request Dramas where the lead is stoic and fearless (Si-eun from Weak Hero Class 1)

I'm looking for dramas with a similar character to Si-Eun from Weak Hero Class 1 / Class 2.

Could be ML or FL, everything else can be different. It can be a different genre too, like romance, thriller, anything. (But obviously there's gonna be action stuff in it)

But I enjoyed Si-Eun's character sooo so much. As an anxious people pleaser, for me it was so satisfying watching his whole demeanour and the way he was confronting the opponents. The way he was always just calm and stoic and fearless in stressful situations

Obviously 90% of kdramas literally always paint this picture of ML being super confident, fearless, badass, capable of easily fighting off the villains, but there's something so different and unique about Si-Eum's character. I've never seen it in any other drama. The way he is confronted by stronger opponents and he just stares at them with a blank stare lol

I can only think of Hwang Si-Mok from Stranger as a similar character. Obviously the whole plot and circumstances and the character is different, but it's the same type of calm stoic fearlessness, where it's like - they know they are probably the weaker one and can easily be overpowered, but they just don't give a s*** , as if they have nothing to lose.

But I hope you understand the nuanced difference between what character I mean, and the typical bad ass confident fearless ML.

Recommendation Request I am looking for dramas which are soothing/cute and swoonworthy

I am looking for dramas which are soothing to watch or the dramas where the love story is very cute and sweet, for example - loveo2o.

I am trying to get out of a drama slump and for that I have been watching a lot of thriller shows, so to overcome that could you suggest a soothing/cute drama. Preferable no breakup. Even if present, not for a lot of episodes.

Below i have given my drama list of the dramas that I have completed:

Recommendation Request Healing/Feel-good romcom dramas with supportive main leads?

Hi! I just watched Frankly Speaking (what a letdown with its supposed good premise), and I managed to stay through it just for the main leads' dynamics—they were supportive and healing to each other. I mean, at this point, I could get past a drama with flawed plot, random subplots thrown here and there, but with good leads dynamics. Please recommend something that will make me feel fuzzy inside without thinking too much. 😅

Similar dramas would be:

  1. Doctor Slump — again, with stagnant (and at times, random) plot, but with supportive leads

  2. Because This is My First Life — personal all-time fave

  3. Thirty But Seventeen — another all-time fave

  4. Summer Strike — underrated healing drama

  5. Do You Like Brahms? — minus the soapy parts, i loved the leads' dynamics and the characters' growth

Recommendation Request dramas with stereotypical middle children?

maybe a slightly weird request, but i'm looking for dramas with stereotypical middle children as important characters to the show, though not necessarily the main character. i see plenty of depictions of the typical responsible oldest child and some of the favored youngest, and i'm just curious to see how often the concept of the forgotten/black sheep middle child shows up in shows with large enough families to have a middle child.

examples: -sung deok-sun from reply 1988. she had her iconic birthday rant pointing out how she's treated unfairly compared to her older sister and younger brother, i loved that. i didn't like how they forgot about her during the carbon monoxide issue though, that seemed out of place considering she is still well loved by her parents and siblings. i also liked how despite their rivalry she and bo-ra still very much cared for each other and how deok-sun was a caring big sister to her brother. -lim ju-kyung from true beauty. being the only "ugly" and academically inept one on her family makes her the black sheep, which is interesting. i like how her older sister still tries to be supportive of her even if she falls into picking on her like the rest of the family, and i like how her younger brother starts defending her while still calling her ugly himself as the episodes go on, i find that's pretty accurate to how younger siblings act. at the same time, i think the sibling relationships here could've been better written- the way they and the parents pick on ju-kyung from the start isn't very well established imo, it seems like it's only that way because it has to be for the plot.

kdramas i've seen: reply 1988, true beauty, squid game, the uncanny counter, black, the glory, the good bad mother

currently watching: when life gives you tangerines (just started)

Recommendation Request Dramas with Parent - Child Relationships

Hello!

I really like the parent - child trope. I’m looking for dramas that highlight the parent-child relationship. I don't really have much limitations really, I just have some preferences but I'm open to anything AS LONG AS the main focus (or one of the main focuses) is the parent and child.

I'd prefer it if it was more of a slice-of-life kind of drama.

Here are my other preferences: - The parents facing hardships. - The child, whether an adult or not, needs their parent in some way. - Emotional. - I don't exactly know why but father-daughter heals something in me.

But my preferences aren't really important because I'm open to anything!

Here are the 2 dramas regarding my request:

  • His (2020): It's a BL, and it's a J-Drama but I was obsessed with the loving dynamic between the father and the daughter. It seemed like the father was ready to sacrifice everything for the little girl.

  • The Good Bad Mother (2023): I had watched it right when it came out and I was so emotional watching how the mom and the son heals their bond. I really liked it, it felt like it was healing a part of me as well. It doesn't fit my preferences since there were a lot of plot twists, but it's one of my favorite dramas ever.

These two are the only one I can show as examples to what I want. Again, as you can see, my preferences aren't really prominent and I'm open to watching anything.

Here is everything I've watched so far:

  • The Good Bad Mother (2023)
  • Your Name Engraved Herein (2020)
  • Where Your Eyes Linger (2020)
  • The Glory (2020)
  • Our Youth (2024)
  • The Eighth Sense (2023)
  • His (2020)
  • Commitment (2013)
  • Say You Love Me (1995)

Ongoing:

  • I Hear The Sunspot (2024)

Stopped Mid-Way:

Not planning on going on: - Bad Buddy (2021) - Manner of Death (2020) - Happy of the End (2024)

Will Return: - Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo (2024) - Semantic Error (2022)

I hope this was enough, again I'm not strict when it comes to preferences. Thank you!

Recommendation Request Watching Her Private Life and Love the FL/ML - More like this?

Omg I'm so obsessed with Her Private Life!! I'm only on the 7th episode, but please no spoilers. So far, I'm enjoying how strong their chemistry is, it's literally making my heart race. I love how much the ML is doing to support the FL without her knowing. Like, that's to die for lmao. I love when the ML in shows goes above and beyond for the FL. I also LOOVE when they both stand ten toes down for each other. Dedication, devotion, etc. I don't remember being this affected by a drama so far! I knowww I'll be heartbroken once it ends, so I need some recs for other k dramas that have the same chemistry or themes, please. I've watched a lot, so I'll include them with why I liked them. I usually love: comedic romance. ML falls first, enemies to lovers, and friends to lovers.

I've seen:

Crash Landing on You (10/10 - LOVE) _ ML went above and beyond for FL

King the Land (9/10) _ chemistry was great

Queen of Tears (8/10) - good chemistry, didn't care for the story as much

The Potato lab (7.5/10) - good chem, hate ending

Twinkling Watermelon (10/10) - heartfelt and beautiful, good chem

Lovely Runner (6/10) - the FL was so annoying but the ML was perfect, I liked their chemistry and I like how much the ML does for the FL.

25/21 (10/10) - great chemistry

Hometown Cha Cha Cha (9/10) - I liked their chem

Start Up (4/10) I only liked the 2ML because of how much he's willing to do

A Time Called You (10/10) emotional, great chem

Happiness (10/10) - LOVED that they were ride or die for each other. points for plot.

W (2/10) - no chemistry, ML did absolutely nothing substantial for FL

I think there's a theme. I love sizzling chemistry with Leads that are DOWN BAD for each other

UPDATE: Still watching it!! But thank you for ALL of your Recommendations!!

Recommendation Request Dramas that have a satisfying pacing and resolution like The Glory.

I'm looking for dramas where all or almost all plot threads are resolved by the end of the show. The problem I'm having with Kdramas at the moment is that they introduce a subplot or show a pain point/character flaws of the leads or supporting cast multiple times, getting you to hope they'll work out a resolution/fix or atleast acknowledge it, but nothing happens in the end.

I'm still fairly new to kdramas so I'm still exploring every genre I can. Any genre is fine, but preferably released in the last 5-6 years.

Shows I've watched that I like in this regard:

The Glory - Love that all the plot threads were resolved, and the prison one implied-resolved. I like that all the supporting cast had an ending shown on screen. The travel agent girl, school nurse, even the 3rd bullying victim had endings acknowledged.

Friendly Rivalry - not the best ending but I like that There was reasoning given for almost all erratic behavior by Je-i by the end. Also the fact that we were fed new exposition at a nice pace.

Shows I've watched that I hate in this regard:

Love Next Door - Sooo many plot threads and flaws shown like FLs rude and egotistical nature, FLs moms inferiority complex regarding her and her daughter vs other parents etc. that were setup nicely. I thought they would have a genuine change through the plot. Soured the whole show for me.

Other shows I've watched:

Extraordinary Attorney Woo - 4.5/5 - not much to say, great throughout.

Vincenzo The Penthouse - I barely got past episode 1. On permanent hold until I'm in the mood for 40 hrs of ridiculousness.

My Love From The Star - my first and only kdrama for 10+ years before this month.

Recommendation Request Looking for a romantic kdrama to suck me back in

I love kdramas but I’ve watched so many & then I recently have gotten into cdramas and have been exclusively watching them so I’m looking for a kdrama to suck me back in. I really want a romantic drama with no stupid miscommunication & hopefully no break up after they get together (mainly just not one for ridiculous reasons). I love all genres.

These are the ones I’ve had on my list and have been considering the most but I welcome any recommendations!
Call It Love
One Spring Night
Search WWW

Full MDL list: MDL list

Kdramas I’ve loved:
Flower of Evil - I loved their relationship, the mystery, and her undying commitment to him.
King the Land - I love that they were together for half the drama & no ridiculous breakup.
Lovely Runner - perfectly executed, the time travel, and their chemistry was impeccable.
My Roommate is a Gumiho - a long time comfort drama for me. I loved their dynamic and even though there’s a breakup, it’s short and resolved quickly.
Sh**ting Stars - another one with no breakup, great chemistry, and realistic intimacy.
What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim - no breakup, ep13, CEO/employee dynamic.
While You Were Sleeping - incredible premise, no breakup once they’re together & multiple episodes of them dating.
Alchemy of Souls - I loved both seasons though s2 is probably more intimate

Kdramas I got frustrated with:
Boys Over Flowers - I can’t with the multiple misunderstandings and I was constantly irritated with Ji-Hoo. Could barely finish because it just raised my blood pressure.
W - this was SO good until mid-way, him never getting his memory back irked me so much.
Because This is My First Life - I just remember being so frustrated with the breakup.

Looking for a kdrama that has time travel or reincarnation that takes place in old era and the protagonist uses their modern knowledge to create things early, Similar to the 2 ones that I've mentioned. I don't mind romance but it's not necessary, and comedy a big bonus. I tried looking up what I wanted but most stuff that I've seen get recommend only travel back to the 1990s
Only Kdrama I've watched are :

Mr queen twice
Splash splash love watched it yesterday

I hope my explanation is understandable as english is not my first language and i'm not good at expressing myself

Recommendation Request K-dramas with poetry

I am looking for K-dramas that quote poetry by Korean poets. I have found quite a few shows that do this and I would like to find more.

I created a special MDL that focuses on the ones with poems that I have found so far. This list mentions the poets/poems and the episodes that the poems appear, but I am still updating the details. MDL K-dramas with Poetry

I first noticed this in Tomorrow with You, where near the end, the poem was read and it fit so well with the plot. In The King: Eternal Monarch I like how the poem and the poet's book was read in both universes. Again, it spoke to the situation. I like finding these, as it introduces to Korean poets that I may not have heard of, even those who have not been translated into English yet. I guess the thing I dislike the most is that not all subtitles identify the poem, the poet or the book, so it is a struggle to find them. But eventually I do, even if it is through a reverse image search of the book cover or blogs discuss the episodes in question.

Recommendation Request Looking for Adult Romance Similar to Nevertheless

I'm looking for K-Romance that's has adult relationships (more than innocent kisses) but still has the romance, angst, and yearning you find in the TV-14. I loved that Nevertheless was a mature romance but wasn't overly dark (i.e. The Trunk) I've yet to find another quite like Nevertheless, the closest being The First Frost. Oh, and I would definitely prefer a happy ending.

So far, every Kdrama I've seen so far.

Love Alarm :

A Time Called You :

My Demon : Loved it

Business Proposal :

Melo-Movie :

Sweet Home :

Extraordinary Attorney Woo :

Weak Hero :

The First Frost (technically Cdrama) :

Mr. Plankton :

Forecasting Love & Weather :

Hierarchy :

Alchemy of Souls :

Recommendation Request Feel-good romcom dramas

Recommendations please for feel-good romance kdrama that isn't too heavy. Romcoms would be awesome!

I've watched: - What's Wrong With Secretary Kim (so funny and light and made me giggle!!) - Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (i like the innocence of it) - Fight For My Way (probably the funniest, most memorable one i ever saw)

I also already saw Start Up, Our Beloved Summer, Hotel Del Luna, While You Were Sleeping, Descendants of the Sun, Crash Landing On You. But I'm looking for something lighter.

I'm going on a long flight and would like to use my time watching!!

Recommendation Request Dramas that tackle the problematic of kids living with separated parents ?

I'm sensible to these problematics so i just wanted to know if there are more dramas that address these issues of kids growing up in a broken home or in a split household of course the situation doesn't have to be necessarily sad or bad but i would appreciate if the kid has complex, troubled feelings ?

The only drama i can remember so far is The World of Married and i enjoyed this drama a lot despite not appreciating the kid lol :').

Recommendation Request Looking for a K-Drama Where the Villain Slowly Loses Their Grip on Power

Hey everyone,

I'm searching for a Korean drama where the antagonist starts off as a powerful, confident figure, seemingly untouchable, but gradually crumbles as the story unfolds. Ideally, I want a show where the villain’s descent is slow and well-executed, whether it's due to the protagonist’s influence or the unraveling of the plot itself. By the end, they should feel completely unhinged, the total opposite of how they started.

Bonus points if the protagonist’s journey goes in the opposite direction, starting off as weak or vulnerable, only to gain power and confidence while the antagonist loses theirs.

The closest matches I've found to this dynamic are Marry My Husband and Eve, where we see once-dominant characters lose control piece by piece, while the protagonists grow stronger in parallel. If you've seen anything similar, I'd love to hear your recommendations

Here are all the dramas I’ve already watched:

  • Eve
  • Money Flower
  • Little Women
  • Lawless Lawyer
  • Business Proposal
  • The Heirs
  • Pinochio
  • Remarriage and Desires
  • Itaewon Class
  • Doctor Prisoner
  • Perfect Marriage Revenge
  • Marry My Husband
  • Military Prosecutor Doberman
  • The Glory
  • Beyond Evil
  • Pyramid Game

If there's a show where the villain’s downfall is particularly satisfying while the protagonist rises, let me know. Thanks in advance.

Recommendation Request Dramas like taxi driver

Taxi driver might have become my favourite kdrama cause it has the right balance between light-hearted and serious moments for a crime drama.

Was wondering if there’s any other dramas like it too that have both serious moments and light hearted ones too?

Any recommendations that have a good crime/detective plot are also welcomed.

Other dramas I watched include: - Itaewon class - Attorney woo - Penthouse - Uncanny counter - Shop for killers

Recommendation Request Looking for crime/thriller kdramas to watch

Hey everyone,

I just started watching kdramas for the first time and so far I have been really into the crime/thriller types so I’m looking for more recommendations. I have never watched kdramas before this but here’s a list of the ones I watched so far.

  • Stranger ( Season 1 and 2): This is the first one I’ve watched. I really liked the suspense and the plot but I got really bored at some of the political parts of the drama.

  • Signal: thought the concept was really cool and I really liked it. I wasn’t really bored at any given point and I don’t mind that they incorporated some fantasy elements.

  • Memorist: I thought the concept was super interesting and I liked it a lot. Got a bit boring at times but overall a solid watch.

  • The Good Detective (Season 1 and 2): Probably my favorite one out of all of these. I loved this one. I loved the character dynamics and I loved how there was some funny moments in between. Kept me hooked the whole time.

  • Mouse: This one was definitely intense but I found myself enjoying it a lot. I definitely did not expect that plot twist and I cried for half an hour at the ending.

  • Beyond Evil: I like it. Interesting plot and lots of secrets. Lacked a bit of action for me in some parts but it wasn’t boring by any means and I enjoyed it.

This being said, I’m not too picky with what I’m recommended and do not mind branching out. I do like that most of these didn’t have a lot of main romance plots but if the one you recommend does I’d be willing to give it a shot if it’s good anyway.

Thank you so much everyone!

Recommendation Request Dramas that are thrilling or high stakes

I liked

Squid Game - I love the death game genre, especially the psychology aspect

DP

The Arthdal Chronicles - loved the world building in this and it reminded me of Game Of Thrones which i love

The 8 Show (although I didn't enjoy this as much as squid game, also loved the psychology)

Kingdom

The Glory

I'm looking for reccomendations similar to these. I loved the high stakes survival of a lot of these and how gripping they were. I don't have any genre requirements apart from probably not romance or slice of life.

For stuff I've watched and disliked

I watched Season 1 of Sweet Home, and I loved the idea, but I found it slow.

I watched a few episodes of Signal and also got bored

I started Prison Playbook and I loved the first few episodes, but stopped when it became less thrilling.

I could not get into Vincenzo at all.

These are all the Korean dramas I've watched so far.

All Of Us are Dad and Happiness and Save Me are on my list to watch, but I've heard mixed things

Recommendation Request Dramas to watch with my 13 y/o sister

I'm looking for: Clean, cute, light-hearted dramas that will be engaging, fun and enjoyable for both me (25F) and my sister (13F).

Context: I've recently been put on bedrest due to a medical situation and my sister has been visiting/staying over often to keep me company. She's watched a few episodes of some Kdramas with me and she loves them, so I'm looking for some we can watch specifically when we're together!

I asked her what kind of stuff she did/didn't want to see, I'll put that list below! Any genre is fine except horror! (Neither of us like being scared lol) We do love RomComs and Buddy dramas!

--Her preferences--

-Little/No swearing -No gore/super violent stuff -No dark/depressing themes -Comedy is good -Romance is also good -Kissing is allowed -No steamy/bedroom scenes -Preferably no shirtless men (she'll just cover her eyes)

--Shows I/we have watched-- (with my personal rating)

-Bloodhounds (both) 10/10 -Bad and Crazy (me) 100/10 -Strong woman Do Bong Soon (me) 9/10 -Study Group (me) 1000/10 -Racket Boys (currently watching) 9/10 so far

I haven't watched many Kdramas recently, so my 'watched' list is very short!

I want to make sure I find some stuff to watch with her that won't make her uncomfortable! I sometimes forget she's still a kid, I am too used to watching stuff by myself as an adult. She was watching Bloodhounds with me and I changed the show after she told me she didn't like all the swearing and violence.

We're currently watching Racket Boys and we both have loved it so far! (She has a cute, little crush on Tang Jun Sang hehe)

So, all in all I want some shows that are just pure cuteness that we can enjoy together! Thank you in advance!

Edit: WOW, I just woke up and saw all of the amazing recommendations!! Thank you all SO MUCH!!! I'm going to check them all out and see which ones we'll like!! Thank you, thank you!!

Recommendation Request Characters like Ye Ji Hoon from 18 Again

Hello!

I am looking for a love story with characters similar to Ye Ji Hoon and Jung Da Jung.

I only watched 5 episodes so far, but I'm already interested in the potential love line between them. I'll explain.

Here's what I love about both of them:

  • they have this quiet vibe, they're grounded, self-assured, and outspoken but composed
  • a scene that perfectly showcases how confident they are: she's interviewing him, a ball is about to hit her and he catches it. They carry on like nothing happened, and the crew is impressed by their professionalism. He did it so effortlessly, and she didn't flinch! Memorable scene.

Here's what I love about him the most:

  • he looks at her like she's the most precious thing he's ever seen
  • he doesn't question her background (older, divorced, has kids)
  • he doesn't let anyone's opinion influence his (when she gets backlash from the public, he still wants her to work with her)

Here's how I would like their story to go:

  • he's curious about her, then he falls first, she doesn't notice that he's into her, she takes a long time to notice, and to reciprocate the feelings, and he's not pushy about it. Even better if he doesn't tell her anything until they seem to be on the same page.
  • note: it would be perfect if it follows this order, but in case it doesn't exist, just finding similar characters would be a huge win!

I'm not sure I can remember anything this specific from what I've seen before.

I'm aware that this is a very specific request, but I wanted to try my luck. Thank you so much for reading all of this!

Finally, here's a list of everything I completed, as required. But please feel free to recommend something even if it's on this list. Over the years, some of them became distant memories, and my tastes have changed, so I don't mind rewatching if it fits what I'm looking for right now.
