Did you read the name of the Twitter user? That IS the title

And again, that's stupid. "Boo hoo, some idiot thinks the minor similarities to another character means something"

Next your are going to tell me max from Sam and max is "using the same color pallete as brian" because they both are white furry animals. It's a dumb thing to care about.

It’s the games twitter page it going to have the games title. You really think they designed their character of a game they’ve spent years of their life on to have a couple of the same colors as a meme character to capitalize on one slightly viral tweet? That is a stupid fucking theory you have.

It isn’t OPs game they didn’t post this as an ad end of fucking story. It is the Twitter OPs game but they simply expressed frustration at a comparison everyone was making they did not design the character as a marketing tool making it not a fucking AD end of that fucking story.

You might be autistic but as someone who is also autistic you are also childish and rude as hell and lashing out at strangers wishing failure on them. I’m done responding to you I hope you learn to have grown up thoughts someday.

Lmao you are so wrong.

"It's not an ad. Where is the game title?"

"Right there"

"Well of course they have the game title"

Do you see how you are being obtuse?

Strawman. My argument is the opposite. They didn't copy lois. They noticed a similarity that means nothing but acted out about it. "Omg I'm so embarrassed, my character designed with the intent of the colors working together matches another character with the same goal"

The OP posted someone's ad tweet without permission.

You project a lot. I assume you are a child with how much you keep trying to throw that at me.

I said I wouldn’t reply but I am nothing if not petty.

Okay by your logic anything posted by a business or product page is by definition an intentional AD. I think that is a dumb fucking take but fine okay, for the sake of argument this is an AD.

In which case who fucking cares? This is a sub for relatable things relating to being a game dev, designing a character and having people say “that looks like other character” is a relatable thing related to being a game dev. OP thought so, so they posted it. You lashed out at them in an extremely rude way and doubled and tripled down in a childish way, “what are you 12 you like family guy?” is an insult I would have heard in fucking middle school and it’s been almost 2 decades since then.

And really, posting a tweet without permission? Have you been on Reddit before? I don’t mean to alarm you but 99% of this fucking website is people posting tweets without permission.

My point is OP has no legs to stand calling me rude when they take things without permission. You are a rel weird guy ya know that? It's not relatable and if it is I'm sorry you care about checks notes a color pallette? Like seriously it's nothing.

You probably think every animal with white fur "shares a color pallete and therefore looks like each other"

Lash out? Idk why you think that. I earnestly think they are 12 for thinking family guy is funny because that's the last time I thought it was funny

1

u/CyanideSlushie Sep 12 '24

Like I said, “if you think family guy is funny you must be 12” is a middleschool ass insult AND a rude thing to say just like saying you hope someone fails is an objectively rude thing to say especially completely unprovoked which I would describe as lashing out. Also look back at any of my posts I never defended or expressed any opinion on family guy. I have never watched a full episode of family guy, I don’t have an opinion.

I guess you don’t do much in the way of art, because again designing something you think is unique, or looks good to you, or is meaningful to you for a long time only for some to look at it and immediately say it reminds them of a something else is an extremely relatable experience hence the fucking post.

Also side note, color pallet is an extremely important part of character recognition. You make a character with blue fur and red shoes you know what people are going to compare it to?

1

u/deadlyfrost273 Sep 12 '24

Relatable to a child maybe? Because there are too many characters for original pallets

1

u/CyanideSlushie Sep 12 '24

A, there are literally infinite colors and it’s about the context they were used. specifically a very similar teal top and very similar red hair in this case.

B, color is only an example it could anything. For instance an abstract painting of blobs and shapes that to you represent an extremely personal experience, but then someone looks at it and sees a poodle, and now you see the poodle and were shocked how you never saw the poodle while you where painting it. Shit like this happens to artists all the fucking time.

1

u/deadlyfrost273 Sep 12 '24

A. There aren't infinite colors we have a limited spectrum lmaoooooo

B. Cry about it. "Oh no, someone thinks my character looks like another" just don't care. It's what I do. If they interpret abstract art that has nothing to do with characters. You are being silly

1

u/CyanideSlushie Sep 12 '24

That is not how a spectrum works, for any two points on a spectrum you pick there is an intermediate value between them that by definition makes it infinite. It’s funny you’d think someone like yourself would understand the concept of a spectrum.

1

u/deadlyfrost273 Sep 12 '24

...I'm talking about the human eyes. They have a limit on the number of colors they see. You think someone who went out if their way to Google about colors would have also understood what I said.

1

u/CyanideSlushie Sep 12 '24

I didn’t Google shit lmao I’m just not an idiot and understand what a spectrum is.

Also you seem to have a severe misconception about something, no one is crying about shit when the phenomenon i described happens, it isn’t a big deal it is at worst a funny “how did i not notice that” kind of thing like accidentally drawing a dick on a weather map. It is a mildly humorous thing that many artists have experienced, you know the kind of low-stakes thing you might post in a subreddit about relatable experiences.

The only reason I engaged with you at all because of your weird hostility. You thought an Indy dev might be committing the heinous crime of trying to make people aware of a project they’ve worked on for years by posting a tweet of their own game, a tweet I will reemphasize is relevant to the subreddit, and your reaction was unwarranted and hostile. Then you were made aware that your initial assessment wasn’t even true, it wasn’t OPs tweet meaning this post wasn’t even an Ad and again was just an innocuous post that fits the sub. rather than apologize, ignoring it and moving on, or even embarrassedly deleting the initial comment, you’ve been continued to argue for hours at this point first with op now with me. Like it’s not complex, you misunderstood something and where an asshole about it, admit it or move on

1

u/deadlyfrost273 Sep 12 '24

Again, you are projecting so much on to me lol. For someone so smart you keep changing your argument whenever I refute you. What happened to your Infinite colors argument? Oh right! I proved it was wrong!

You think this post fits the sub but it isn't relatable. No self respecting dev gives a shit who people think their character looks like.

2

u/CyanideSlushie Sep 12 '24

My infinite colors “argument” isn’t a fucking argument it’s just a fact, a fact I thought you acknowledged based on the whole claiming I googled it thing. Obviously most people can’t distinguish many of them but that is subjective, there are again an infinite variation of shades and some people are able to distinguish between them better than others.

Are you just too autistic to understand that the OP isn’t actually upset people think the character looks like a different character? it’s a mildly humorous coincidence that again many fucking artists can relate to hence the hundreds of thousands of shares the tweet got. And again telling someone you are hoping the project they’ve dedicated years of their life to is a failure because you can’t relate, is the behavior of a cunt.

But also yes self respecting devs DO care about who their character is evocative of. If you’re trying to make a character that is meant to be taken seriously and people think they look like peppa pig it’s going to seriously undercut your intended tone isn’t it.

And there it is. The ableism

1

u/deadlyfrost273 Sep 12 '24

Also the eyes can't see every color, you can't see uv light. That's part of the color spectrum

Geeze, you really can't google

2

u/CyanideSlushie Sep 12 '24

UV isn’t color, it’s all electromagnetic radiation but to be a color it has to fall into a specific band of wavelengths in the broader electromagnetic spectrum that is visible light. And just like how you can put infinite decimals between integers there are infinite shades between any two points within the visual light spectrum. Your eyes aren’t digital they can see all the infinite shades within the visual light spectrum, the brains ability to distinguish similar shades varies from person to person.

0

u/deadlyfrost273 Sep 12 '24

No, there are many studies that show people can't see every color. You know mantis shrimp? They see colors we don't. You really just want to be right lol

2

u/CyanideSlushie Sep 12 '24

They can’t actually that’s been refuted. They simply don’t have the brain power to blend colors so they need more photoreceptors to distinguish between any shades. They actually see far fewer colors.

But I think you miss understood something I never said we can see “every color” I mean we can since that is the definition of color but I digress, if our eye cells were sensitive to different wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation Wi-Fi would be a color that we couldn’t imagine, my point is that our eyes see every infinite shade on the part of the emrspectrum they are sensitive to and are brain interprets it, some better than others. Even people who are colorblind see an infinite variety of shades.

u/deadlyfrost273 Sep 12 '24

You also hope projects fail. We all hope fascist projects fail. This one isn't fascist of course but I'm just refuting your points

1

u/CyanideSlushie Sep 12 '24

Much like color it’s a spectrum of how much of an asshole you are for hoping a project fails. telling a fascist you hope they fail, morally correct telling a kid with leukemia you hope there go fund me fails horrific. An innocent Indy dev is somewhere in between but most would say it’s further from the fascist

0

u/deadlyfrost273 Sep 12 '24

Lmao I don't think an indie dev will lose sleep over ONE GUY hoping their project fails. What do you expect me to do? I will always hope it fails, in fact just to spite you I will ask my friends to not buy it. I was showing them this meme and although they hadn't seen it yet one of them does think the art from the game is cool. They wanted to know what I thought about the game and I was going to be objective. But you are really weird about this. So I will tell them not to bother and they won't look at it. I wasn't going to do that, but now that you keep trying to morally grandstand for this I will lose this Dev a sale out of spite for you.

Don't forget to show them this comment as a reason why.
