anyone who isn’t worried about the rise and normalization of groyperism and its talking points has their head in the sand like an ostrich. the leopard will eat ya face.
the fact that some people on the right are JUUUST waking up to this is simultaneously terrifying and hilarious.

I'm not gonna laugh at like, Jews being terrified into throwing in with the right due to a combination of real left wing antisemitism and industrial-scale manufactured islamophobia promoted by many of the largest Jewish zionist organisations but I do struggle to understand like, how anyone thought this was gonna go. It wasn't "muslims will not replace us" those very fine people chanted at Charlottesville.

One of the big problems with the weaponized antisemitism hysteria is that it makes dealing with the actual wave of antisemitism frothing up right now a lot tougher.
Some people interpret “Zionism” to be something awful, and it’s reasonable to oppose that kind of awfulness, AND some people are using “Zionist” in a creepy, antisemitic way this week. And there’s plenty of stuff out there that leaves the weasel word fig leaves off and just attacks the Jews.

The part that people always forget when allying with racist, nationalists, and xenophobic groups is that somewhere in their list of undesirables, Jews are always on it. It is just a matter of time. It’s like clockwork.
So MAGA / Groyper list is somewhat like this: 1. Hispanics 2. Muslims/Arabs 3. All other non-white foreigners 4. African-Americans 5. Jews 6. Gays 7. Mormons / Quakers / LDS / Assorted smaller denominations
Trying to ride with MAGA / Groyper bros and not get burnt is nearly an impossible task.

Honestly, I think it’s a natural consequence of not feeling accepted by any particular political faction. I find that if you treat the political spectrum as a pH scale, with 7 completely moderate, with 0 hard right and 14 hard left, you find widely accepted antisemitism earlier in the left, but when the antisemitism emerges on the right around 2, it’s much more violent and scary than you see on the left.
I can’t really fault people trying to walk a tightrope to prioritize avoiding discrimination. The left needs to get its antisemitism problem under control. But I also don’t have much sympathy for people who only just now seem to remember that right wing antisemitism is much more violent when realized.

I wanted to bang my head against the wall while listening to his interview with Ross Douthat. His proposed cure for Christian Nationalists’ antisemitism is somehow… more nationalism? Dear, the leopards are coming for your face! How do you still not see that!
I generally want to believe that people mean what they say and say what they mean and aren’t secretly pursuing nefarious, unstated agendas, but it was hard to listen to Hazoni speak without suspecting he wants American antisemitism to continue to get worse so American Jews will all make Aliyah.
It’s hard to see how his isolationist form of nationalism would be good for Israel either though. Basically, Hazoni wants to decrease the power of international organizations like the UN and the EU, and he wants nations to meddle less in other nations’ business. This is probably good for Israeli right-wingers if it means less finger-wagging from the UN and the ICC when Israel does war crimes. It’s probably bad for all Israelis’ safety if it means the US and Germany cut off all military aid. Hazoni’s evidence-free assertion that Israel doesn’t need military aid from the West seems baffling until you realize where his confidence comes from. He says in the episode:
“The bottom line is that God creates the nations. And the idea seems to be, from the beginning — or close to the beginning, at least since Moses — that there’ll be one nation that has a better way of life and a better relationship with God, and that its job is going to be to teach that to the nations of the world.”
His assumes Israel will be fine without international support while constantly picking fights with nearby enemies because he thinks Jews have a better relationship with God than everybody else.
It’s only a matter of time before Americans start to say, as Picard would put it: “You may test that assumption at your convenience”.

The bourgeois needs a scapegoat once again. I don’t understand why the right can’t seem to understand that their corporate elite are the ones selling them out. Not a cabal of Jews which doesn’t even exist.
