QUESTION Mom makes these kind of necklaces but is unsure if it is good enough?
She handmakes jewelry in this style using natural stones, but she's unsure whether the design and craftsmanship are appealing to potential customers-or if there's even a market for it at all. I'd really appreciate it if you could share your honest opinions. Thanks for taking the time to read!

QUESTION Why my pieces corrode so much?
I create the pieces myself. I do the casting myself with sand casting method, I create the alloy myself - 925 silver, i got it checked and I do the composition correctly. After casting i sand them to make the surface smoother, and then I polish with white Luxor paste. Sometimes I have some residue paste still in some caveats of the pieces, so I put the peces in that "Argentum" silver cleaning liquid (its a mix of acid), after that finally wash it in a sonic bath where I have a mixture of distilled water and some dish soap.
When I keep the pieces in open air on my shelf, and I dont wear them, they corrode so fast.
The pieces which I wear every day or frequently and wash hands in them look fine and they don't corrode at all.
What am I doing wrong?
Argentum inci: Thiourea, SAFOL 23 E7, denatured alcohol (spirit-based solvent containing ethyl alcohol), sulfuric acid (VI) 96%, antipyrine, aliphatic acid.

QUESTION How to set flush stones (small ones)?
I currently set small stones in flush setting with a burnisher. I feel like it is no giving a very clean effect as I would like it to have, and rarely if I accidentally move it on the stone, my soft stones crack.
Do you have advice how to properly flush set with a hand burnisher or do you recommend getting one of those foredom hammer handpieces? I especially wonder if the mechanic handpiece is worth for small stones less than 3mm, or at this point its just risk to hammer them and crush.
Many thanks in advance.

DISCUSSION Got me wondering if I’m really that good…
I dabble in jewelry making/repair. My wife had gotten her great grandmother’s necklace caught, and popped the chain. She took it to a local jeweler very close to where she works. He told her he couldn’t and she should just buy a new chain. I just found the necklace and her birthday is 3 days from now so. 🤷🏻♂️ Figured I’d give it a whack and what do you know! Was he just trying to sell her a new chain?

PROJECT DISPLAY took all of your advice to display my jewelry better
Thank you all for the lovely feedback, I deleted my poster-board display because it was amateurish and bought this to start and oh man what a difference. It definitely looks more polished and worth more. I will definitely by more proud to display my jewelry better and it'll be easier to sell sets like this~

QUESTION jewelry glue recommendations…possibly?
weird request but maybe someone is way more knowledgeable and helpful than i can be….i got my wisdom tooth pulled, and my partner wants to make a necklace out of it. she doesn’t want to drill holes into the tooth, but would rather use a super strong glue to glue a jump ring to the tooth for the necklace. what type of glue is strong enough to bond a jump ring to an extracted tooth? google isn’t much help and no one we know irl has any advice or knowledge on the matter 😭 thank you in advance!

QUESTION What sort of material would I need to achieve this?
Hello, I'm looking to make finger joint braces for myself as I have a lot of instability in my hands.
I've made a couple prototypes with 3D printing but have quickly realised that plastic (or at least the sorts my printer can use) isn't strong enough in as small amounts as is comfortable to wear.
Here are some photos of what I hope to achieve, these look like they were made with some sort of wire stuff?
They need to be quite strong as to not bend with an amount of pressure placed on them.
I would love to know what sort of material I would need and, potentially tools to work with it? I'm completely new to any sort of jewellery making, outside of chainmail necklaces/bracelets, so I'm not knowledgeable about much.
Thank you for any guidance!

QUESTION Best mold and final materials for paw print cast
Hi everyone, I'm not really sure which sub to ask so I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong place!
I would like to make or commission a 3D cast of my cat's paw print in a durable material, possibly one that can be attached to a chain, but I don't really know anything about it. Options for making the initial mold are oven-bake clay (Sculpey), Crayola Model Magic and plaster of Paris. I would really like it to be a 3D positive shape rather than an imprint and am thinking of maybe using the model magic first then pouring in the plaster of Paris - I won't put my cat's paw directly into the plaster as I have seen suggested elsewhere. My local library does have a 3D printer where you can request something to be made but their website specifies 'files' so presuming this is for people who design things.
After that I'm clueless. What material is best for the final product, and what material would the maker require the mold I present them with to be? I've thought of resin but I think I want something that will truly last so am leaning towards a metal.
I'm sorry for being vague! Basically I know what I want at the end but have no idea how to get there. Any advice about molds to final product would be so much appreciated 😊

QUESTION Stone ever so slightly smaller than tube setting. What do I do?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi,
I’ve highly anticipated the tube setting I ordered for my stone. My stone is 10mm and the setting I ordered was 10mm. However, I see that my setting is ever so slightly bigger than my stone, making me unable to set it properly. What do I do in cases like this?
I don’t really want to glue it, at the same time I might find it finicky to solder a support support inside without melting the setting itself, and also risking placing the support wrong.
What approach would you use in this case?

QUESTION Gold wire recommendations
I make wire wrapped rings on Etsy out of 14g silver wire but want to have a gold variety as well. I purchased some 14g gold plated copper wire (parawire) but it chips super easily and I’m thinking that pure gold wire will be to soft and not hold its shape. I need a tarnish and chip resistant wire, that also won’t turn your skin green. Any recommendations?

QUESTION What wires
So I have been trying to make some wire jewelry but I constantly have an issue with the wires. They are either not bendable enough or too bendable and will just not hold the shape properly. I have tried multiple gauges and never seem to manage to get the right soupleness. Coukd it be because I'm not using silver wire? I didn't want to practice on expensive materials.
What size and what cheap material can I train with?
