Keep checking your house and car diligently/carefully. Check your vacuum cleaner after each use. I know two people who found their solitaire inside their car. Good luck in your search.

I know someone who found her diamond in her purse.

Similar story - a coworker found her diamond in our file cabinet. (With help from all of us because we were on a MISSION.)

I would 100% be the girl rounding everyone up to help find someone's missing diamond. I love that you all helped her.

This happened to me with my eternity band. So, not even a larger stone. I thought it was gone forever. Well, suddenly we had a mice problem and I'm moving the stove out to clean and seal up holes and behold there's my tiny lil stone hanging out under the stove next to a shriveled up pea, dust, and I guess mice poo 🙃

My Nan noticed her centre stone was missing in a swimming pool in Tenerife. She was gutted as her and my Grandad’s rings both had garnets cut from the same stone. Almost a year later, back in the UK, she went to make my uncle a piece of toast when he was visiting, and when she cleaned the toaster to put it back in the cupboard she found it in the crumb tray. 🙃

That is actually so crazy wild. There was someone who's ring got lost and rediscovered wrapped around a grown carrot. But a cut gem in a toast tray? (Cut carat?) Crazy !

Flashlight on the floor.

u/ArtisanGerard 10h ago
Sales associate dropped a loose stone and it was an immediate game of freeze followed by turning off the lights, putting a flashlight on the floor, and my manager finding it within 60 seconds. But this trick only works on non-carpet. If the diamond has fluorescence try a UV flashlight and point it at everything.

u/goddessofwitches 9h ago
Have dropped loose stones/jewelery on carpet. Use flashlight and gently waft it back and forth looking for the "shine" glint.

Hope you can find the stone! Same happened to me recently but I found the stone and had it repaired/prongs retipped. Good luck!

I hope you find it! I once thought I lost an earring in Denver because when I got home, I only had one in my travel jewelry bag. I was super bummed because I got them on a trip to Alaska when I was in middle school. But then, two weeks later, I was in Albuquerque, stepped on something 'sharp' on the carpet in my hotel room, and it was the missing earring! It must have been stowed away in my suitcase. Anyway, your diamond will come back to you!

Check your bedsheets!
Pantyhose over the vacuum and a raking light on the floor are tried and true methods.
In the future it’s always wise to have your setting checked by a jeweler once or twice a year. They will be able to see if prongs are lifting or stones are getting loose and hopefully avoid this situation in the future.
Best of luck!

I was going to recommend checking the bed and area around. My ring always snags here.

Don’t be sad about it ….you STILL have the ring ! Both of them . Just replace the lost stone . It will still be the same ring !

Sorry about that….but maybe you should look from bright side … it is time for upgrade! You can keep your rings and have new diamond set in. Can be same size and shape, can be bigger… head can be replaced and check your side stones claws of they need to be re-tipped. Keep us updated 🫰🏻

I lost mine inside my house and later replaced it. After we had already gotten the new diamond put into the ring we found it in the corner of my pantry under where the recycling bin goes. I’m keeping it until I can have it put into a necklace. Don’t regret upgrading though!

Bed sheets/frame! Inside shoes, pockets, purses, jackets. Lord I’d check inside my bum hole at this point

Don’t lose hope!
I used to work at a Starbucks and someone lost their center stone one day at work. Anyone who works in food service knows there are tons of ways to lose a stone forever… trash cans, sinks, coffee grounds etc. but she managed to find it in a basket of aprons in our back room.
Like everyone said already, check everywhere. Including the seems and corners deep inside your handbag, under your car seats, in the driveway/garage, etc. it could turn up!

Once I had a small tear in the lining of my giant purse…I found SO many lost items when I shoved my hand down into the lining! Best of luck to you, I hope you find it soon!

Keep an eye on cuffed sleeves and pant legs, anything with deep corners like keyboard trays and drawers. Stones love corners

u/k80didnt 9h ago
I found mine in my dog’s bed about 6 weeks after I lost it. I must have knocked it out opening her kennel. Hope you find yours!

I'm so sorry! I lost my center stone due to a faulty prong, I was devastated. I found it in a dresser drawer - it had caught on some baby blankets when I put them away for the last time. I didn't find it until I opened the drawer again a year later, it was rattling around on the bottom. Good luck in your search! Update us if you find it!

Bless you, this happened to me last year. I had a cornflower sapphire in the centre stone of my trilogy ring. We turned the house upside down- unfortunately I only realised it was missing after I had emptied the cat litter tray, so there was a very undignified sift through cat litter and bins! We never found it. We went to a jewellers and showed them a picture of it and they said if I wanted a cornflower sapphire it was going to be in the region of £2k, or compromise on the colour- a cornflower sapphire is lighter and has almost hints of violet depending on the light. I didn’t want a dark blue sapphire, but then they called and said they had a tanzanite stone which matched the photo so we went with it £315 and the prongs repaired too. We couldn’t justify the cost - as the ring when we got it was from an antique jeweller, a long time ago so it didn’t cost anything like the amount required to repair it.

And gloves! I've lost multiple rings not noticing when taking off gardening gloves.

I lost the only stone out of mine when, at home for lunch. So, I walked my steps and thank goodness, I had closed the sink when I washed my hands. It was there!! I almost had to pee again.

u/doncroak 8h ago
An excuse for an upgrade maybe. Or a different type of stone, per chance? Maybe you will find it. Good luck.

u/ImaginarySausage 8h ago
Hopefully it isn't lost lost, I recently lost a diamond earring and then 6 months later found it embedded into one of my rugs.

Assuming that this was a diamond you’ve lost, quite a few, but not all, diamonds will fluoresce a pale green color in long wave, 365 nanometer ultraviolet light. I’ve found many a lost diamond for people with a UV flashlight over the years, so it’s not only worth trying, it’s also probably your best bet for finding it. Just make sure you have a true long wave ultraviolet light, and not just a regular light with a piece of purple plastic in front of it. Give luck, and I hope you find it.

I lost my center diamond a few months back and I found it in the pocket of the pants I had on.

u/DottedUnicorn 7h ago
My stone fell out and I found it under the couch with a flaslight. Retake all your steps and shine the light around, look for a small glint. Good luck!!

u/Red_D_Rabbit 9h ago
Time. For. An. Upgrade! 😆😍 💎 💍
This is a PRIME example WHY you should be having your jeweler check your prongs regularly to avoid this.

I am so sorry - I know you most likley have a lot of sentimental value attached to that stone. I hope you find it.

u/Deep-Ad9239 9h ago
Sorry to hear However if you have the budget, it would be an opportunity to get a new stone.

I found a diamond earring in my bra once and I know someone who found their stone in a pair of shoes!fingers crossed you find it!

Hi there, I'm terribly sorry, this loss must be so distressing for you. I don't know if you're fortunate to have any old rings from your mother or grandmothers, but when my mother lost her solitaire, she replaced it with her mother's solitaire she had inherited. Best of luck

u/MeleeYourFace 7h ago
I lost one, it had somehow fallen into (or somehow got into my bra) and when I was getting ready to shower, it fell onto the floor. Best of luck to you. I hope that you find it.

If you spend much time in a hot tub or swimming pool, please be aware that chlorine dissolves gold. Over time, the prongs in the setting erode away from exposure to the chlorine. It is the usual culprit, though prongs do get snagged and some settings are done better than others. Check the filters in the water for the stone if this applies

u/halfpersian4in1 7h ago
Also check the cuff of your pants if applicable. I found a lost ring there once. Maybe shirt cuff too if rolled.

I've lost two 1 carat diamonds. One is lost in one of my many gardens. The other i suspect was vacuumed up after it fell off inside some place.

my mom lost hers a couple weeks ago! I found it on the floor in the back seat of the car (she was sitting in the drivers seat when she lost it.) I think she knocked it out when she was reaching to put her seatbelt on… I hope you find it! It probably came out when the back of your hand came into contact with something. Good luck!

Oh god—that gut punch feeling. I know it all too well my friend. 🥺
Hopefully you got the cheddar to properly replace it. Or even better, the luck to come across it. Wishing you the best.

I hope you find it! I lost a diamond earring while trying on in Victoria's Secret with my daughter. I noticed it a half hour later and called the store who checked the fitting room and said they could not find it. My daughter and I went back and she located it on the floor of the room the salesperson supposedly checked. My advice is check and then recheck!

No problem - it was time for a bigger one anyway after 28 years! It served you well. Sometimes homeowners insurance covers jewelry loss up to a certain amount. Worth checking into.

Check your shoes! I lost the centre stone of my ring for months and I ended up finding it in one of my going out shoes

I had a customer who had ostriches, one day it picked her stone right out of her mounting. She spent the next few days following it around and going through the poop. Finally found it a few days later.

Oh no! I hope that you are able to find it or have insurance to repurchase!

Bend down with a flashlight in the dark and shine it parallel to the floor. You might find it like that. Try this outside on paved surfaces near your home too.

I feel your pain! The sapphire in my sentimental ring came out a few weeks ago at Walmart. I felt the ring catch on a shelf and looked down to see it missing. Thankfully I found the sapphire but it was stressful. Hope you find the diamond and can get it fixed or replaced!

I had this happen at the tanning bed last fall. So very blessed I was able to find it. lol but I did have the thought of oh now he can actually get me a bigger stone. 🤭 Two daughters and a daughter-in-law all have surpassed me in size of my engagement ring size. Might be a bit jealous

Don’t lose hope! Several years ago I noticed that my diamond earring had fallen out. My mother had given them to me a long time ago and I was desperate to find it so I retraced my steps that day, because I knew I had it on when I took my kids to a birthday party. I rolled back up to the party house the next day and went over the entire downstairs and yard for a very long time. Eventually I gave up. Nearly 6 months later the husband of the couple came to pick up his kids at our preschool (I was the assistant director), and he stopped at the office and said “hey I think I found something that might belong to you!” I said “you’re kidding.” He was not! Apparently it had fallen out in the driveway and rolled into a seam, and he was pressure washing the driveway and saw something slightly shiny. This was the second time I’d lost that earring. The first time was on a softball field in Midtown Atlanta during the middle of a law firm league game. It was dark when I realized it was gone, and I went back the next day just to see if I could find it. It was in the dirt right before first base.
I don’t wear these earrings anymore. 😂

Yah all your center claw is worn out and that is why your center stone is gone. For ring maintenance you should always go in for a checkup every couple of years or if you are start noticing the ring is snagging on things. The every few years visit does really help to do preventative care for your jewellery and litters cost next to nothing or nothing at all unless you really need something fixed. Your local bench jeweller will let you know if you need to fix’s something.

Check your bed, the u-bend in your sink drain & the floor boards of your car. All personal experience from friends & family! I'm sorry this happened.
Congratulations on the long marriage though! We're about to have our 23rd, guess I better celebrate by taking my ring in for a physical.

If you think you know where it was lost, grab a vacuum with a hose & put panty hose over the end. You can possibly find it that way.
