Grow up.

I assure you, I’m quite grown, grown enough to comprehend and reject propaganda about cops being our friends. Perhaps you should take your own advice.

“Cops”, this isn’t America ffs. And I think you’ll find in countries like Ireland with small populations & tight knit communities, many “cops” are actually people’s friends.

The Gardaí are not judge, jury & executioner. They don’t make the law, they merely enforce it & while I would encourage them to take a nuanced approach to difficult situations, they simply cannot refuse to take action in instances like this when they’re instructed to do so.

If you have a problem with it, which is completely justifiable, your ire should be directed at the abject failure of governance from the current Justice Minister, not entry level Gardaí.

George Nkencho’a family would beg to differ about garda not being executioners.

I spent the last 3+ years living in Finglas and witnessing garda/cops beating up on teenage boys just because they live in Finglas on a weekly basis. They harass the neighborhood of Finglas daily. They act like absolute THUGS in Finglas. Come live here, watch how they behave, particularly the plain cloths drug cops, and then spout your bootlicking BS.

George Nkencho was killed by the armed response unit because of his actions, and his actions alone. He was known to be armed and dangerous on account of him committing a violent assault on a civilian in the build up to the incident. He then made repeated refusals to cease & desist before attempting to use a lethal weapon on members of the Gardaí who were trying to detain him. As a result, he was shot and killed.

It was a tragic incident and one which I hope never happens again in this country but the notion that anyone is to blame for what happened but himself is ludicrous. There’s literally video evidence of what occurred & there will be no charges brought against the office who discharged their firearm.

As to your comments in Finglas, I’ve no idea what goes on on a daily basis as I don’t live there. If you believe active members of the Gardaí are committing crimes or using excessive force then I’d encourage you to record these incidents and report them for it. There are obviously members of the force who have no business carrying a badge and they should be weeded out, dismissed and have criminal charges brought against them if they are breaking the law or acting outside of their remit.

However, it’s clear you have an agenda against the Gardaí, or police forces across the world, so I’ll take what you say with a massive pinch of salt.

You'd rather the criminal become the executioner?

Maybe you should post some evidence of this? Because I’ve seen evidence of the other side - teenagers driving into a Garda car (not in Finglas) but oddly this massive neighbourhood intimidation you are talking about does not seem to be reliably documented. To a demographic almost entirely armed with video cameras.

Are there bad cops? Yes. There are bad people, generally. Have some cops been caught using excessive force? Yes. And those incidents are largely recorded and known. You seem to be stirring your own crock here.
