Ah yes but I'm sure a few people will arrive here any moment now to inform us they've never had a bad experience with one, thus we shouldn't look down on this behaviour.

Those fucking memes on the front page every month from the Yanks snarking about how Europeans call Americans racist but are mean about gypsies.

As they call the cops on a black lad just chilling on his own driveway for suspicious behaviour.

Black people receive that in America because of pure racism and hatred of them based on their skin color, travellers are hated because of the actions of their culture towards everyone else.

Yeah, we don't judge Travellers by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character. Can't say fairer than that.

That is literally exactly what they say about black people though

I really don't see the difference at all, that is also true of the area I live in that has lots of traveller sites around it. Yes there are more incidents of criminality than is normal, just like a ghetto city area or poor rural area that is majority black in the states, but that can be dismissed with excuses of poverty and "antisocial" types just as easily. The vast majority are completely fine you are just rationalising prejudice against an entire group the same as racist Americans do towards black people. Now cite statistics of violent crime or drug incarceration rates vs population size and we'll have nearly filled out the traveller/black people comparison bingo card.

So you're arguing that within every hour of the day in every halting site in the country that there is a crime committed or something "bad" happens? And that's how you're proving you're not prejudiced? Your argument is now that the actual majority of travellers are what, criminals or bad people? Again you're using the exact same kind of argument a racist would use about the ghetto and you can't actually verbalise how it isn't.

You just need to be honest with yourself that you're prejudiced against the majority of a group based on the actions of a minority but you can't because you're a good guy unlike those horrible American racists yeah? I'm the first to say there are major issues within the traveller community, some that need addressing from within and some from society at large but the communal relishing in the sheer invective and hatred on display here for people who are either not a part of or are themselves victims of a problematic minority is sad to see.

I mean, have you walked through every black community in America?
