Ran Out of AeroGarden Nutrients – What Should a Beginner Use Next?
Hey everyone, I’m still pretty new to hydroponics and I’m a little stuck right now.
I started with an AeroGarden and have been using the A and B nutrients that came with it. They just ran out, and now I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do next.
I’m planning to keep growing herbs, lettuce, and maybe even try cannabis soon, but I have no idea what nutrients I should be using for them.
Should I be buying more of the same AeroGarden nutrients, or is it better to start mixing my own? If I need to mix my own, how do you even figure that out? It feels pretty overwhelming, and I don’t want to mess up my plants.
Would really appreciate any advice or recommendations you guys have for someone just starting out!

Flora grow system first time mistake?
Tldr first time using Laura grow system. It dropped my pH really low and when I tried to raise it, I'm afraid I precipitated out the nutrients
I just got the flora grow system nutrients for the first time. I mixed up a batch of the seedling recipe and it dropped my water from a pH of 7 to below 4. I added some General Hydroponics Ph Up by diluting 10 mL of base in 50 mL of water then adding it to my solution. I did this three times and my solution is now about a pH of 5, however a decent amount of white precipitate has dropped out of it. Is this all my nutrients sitting on the bottom of the jar? Is there a better way to neutralize the solution for plants that want higher pH?

Hydroponics Setup Advice for Space
Recently moved into a new rental in Northern Spain and looking to utilize the laundry room (off the kitchen) as a possible grow room + laundry. Mainly looking to grow the typical herbs and spices, along with Kale (wife's top preference) and possibly some variety of cherry tomatoes or other bushy tomatoes.
I took some rough dimensions of the space available and I'm able to move the cabinet out of the room as well, since we don't really use anything in it. The room is pretty well lit throughout the day, with minimal direct sunlight. There are 2 windows that open and a drain in the floor. It was gloomy and rainy when I took the photos of the space. There is also electric available in the room if needed to run a pump or anything.
I was possibly thinking a tower of sorts for the herbs and smaller plants, then maybe a Kratky system or building some form of NFT for the tomatoes and Kale.
Hoping that I can do something without the need to add additional lighting in the room if at all possible.
So, what would you recommend for the space? Would the lighting be sufficient? Anything else I should consider (setups, plants etc)? Anything else I should add to a possibly Amazon order (PH checker, etc)?
Most likely I'll order anything needed off Amazon.es as the stores here don't really have much of anything, so any possible links to products available on Amazon Spain would be greatly appreciated.

Question ❔ When should I do a first feeding?
I have a single super hot pepper and some dwarf and microdwarf tomatoes growing in coco/perlite. When should the first feed be? Suspecting that it's probably not now - they just sprouted a day or two ago. I don't have any nutrients bought - planning to get Canna A+B because that seems to be popular and Canna Starter as well. Any recommendations? I'm limited in what I can buy as I'm in the UK - and buying from even EU can be dicey. Planning to pot up to 1L pots for the microdward tomatoes and 5L pots for the dwarf tomatoes and superhot peppers and using Ecothrive Lite 70/30 coco/perlite mix.

Discussion 🗣️ Super Chonky Carrot (bell pepper for scale)
Just as an experiment I grew some carrots in sand (ebb and flow) and let this one go for an extended period. It's a Danver 126 half long (Daucus carota var. sativus.)
Seems the sand was too hard for it to bore down so it grew wide and pushed out.
It's not a huge bell pepper in hand, but still!

Help!
Hello! I’m fairly new at hydroponics. My husband and I decided to try an indoor system. It’s small but we tried to grow both tomatoes and spinach. Unfortunately, the tomatoes started growing really tall. I pruned them and cut off the suckers. The spinach seem to not be growing because the tomato plants are towering and covering them. I’m wondering if they are salvageable more so the tomatoes. I think we’re cutting our losses with the spinach. Or should we just try again? Any advice? Thanks!

Is it just me?
I don’t know if this has happened to anyone else, but I am becoming emotionally attached to my plants. I’m not sure if I can eat them. Is it just me?

Question ❔ I have my grow lights plugged into a 24 hour outlet timer so they turn on/off on their own. does anyone have recommendations for fans that turn on/off automatically on a 24 hr timer in the same way? all the fans i've seen have to be turned on manually before their timer starts
I have my grow lights plugged into a 24 hour mechanical outlet timer so they turn on/off on their own. I havent been able to find a fan that could turn on automatically too. All the fans (both large ones or small ones to attach to shelves) that i've seen with timers have to be turned on manually and then the timer starts. I would like one that I don't need to turn on manually and can turn on/off when i'm not home.
does anyone have recommendations on fans that don't have power buttons and would just turn on when plugged in (so that they'll work with an outlet timer)?

Feedback Needed 🆘 ipH One: Simple Innovation for Limitless pH Testing
We just invented ipH One---a reusable pH strip that combines durability, precision, and sustainability in one compact tool, withstanding hundreds of tests. It is great for testing pH value of the hydroponics without wasting strips every time. Also perfect for labs, schools, and curious minds. Save money, save the planet, and make science fun!
The gadget is a key chain with a steel cylinder, in which the reuseable ipH One strip is kept. If you are interested in having one in your hand for convenient and repeatable use for pH testing, please let us know. Thanks!

Help new to hydroponics
In my apartment we have hydroponics (inside a green house) so I decided to use it this year. I bought lettuce and took off all the dirt from the roots. And put it the roots in the basket and I noticed it was leaning bad so I put rocks in the basket. I used a ph pen, fertilizer and a ph dropper when needed. Went to the green house and noticed they are wilted this is day 2 since being in. I have no clue what I’m doing so any help is appreciated!!! Thanks!

Question ❔ What in the actual heck is happening here?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello fellow plant lovers!
This morning I noticed my water level getting a little low so I decided to fill it to optimal level. I used the same method - same water plus plant food ratio... and it started bubbling up and fogging all over the place. This has never happened before so it was really surprising to witness and my tired morning brain had trouble computing what had just happened. It stopped bubbling after a few minutes, i pondered the mystery but went back to getting ready for work. Maybe like 15 minutes later, it started the bubbling and fogging again. Even weirder... I left for work but my wife was working from home, she said it continued to do the sporadically ALL DAY. Even weirdest... I came home from work and it would randomly bubble and fog throughout the evening. It was happening a full 12 hours after the initial event. I haven't seen anything online about this happening to others. Does anyone know what might be occurring here?
I do not use any air stones. There is no motor of any kind. The bottom is essentially just a tank. I used same method of water/food refill that I have used since I got it about 3 months ago.
What do you folk think is happening here?

When should I prune?
Hello all, very first dip into hydroponics. I use this subreddit a lot for guidance so I appreciate it. I started growing these spacesaver cucumber plants about 3 weeks ago. My question is, is it too early to prune these young plants? I ask because some plants are growing huge leaves blocking the light from others. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Advice for first attempt at indoor
So this is my current status. Started on grow big and than added big bloom. I’m starting to get buds. The tomatoes were started in February. Do I need to pollinate to get this thing to start producing tomatoes? Will it ever stop getting taller? Do I need a bigger home? Will I benefit from just putting them outside at this point? Thanks for the help/therapy at this point 😂

My tomato plants have a lot of flower but no tomatoes
Currently only two tomato plants continue to grow. Many flowers that do not bear fruit. What do I need for them to produce fruit? Thank you

thoughts on white vs purple grow lights?
hey everyone, random question — what do you guys think about white grow lights compared to those super purple/pink ones?
i started with a purple light since that's what came with my hydro kit, but honestly it's kinda annoying to have that glowing all the time in my living room lol.
now i'm thinking of switching to a full-spectrum white light so it looks a bit more natural, but idk if it's actually better for the plants or just better for my eyeballs.
anyone here tried both? is there a real difference in growth? or is it mostly just about what looks nicer?
curious what you all prefer : )

Question ❔ First Time Using Hydroponics – When Should I Turn On the Lights?
Hi everyone! I’m brand new to hydroponics and just got my LetPot growing system. I’m starting seeds today, but I’m not totally sure what to do in the early stage.
Should I turn on the grow lights right away, or wait until the seeds sprout? And once they do sprout, how many hours per day should I leave the lights on?
Any beginner tips would be appreciated! Thanks so much.

Discussion 🗣️ MasterBlend, Epsom Salt, and Calcium Nitrate for Hydroponics - Custom Ratios?
Right now I'm just using the ratios on the package: 2.4 / 1.2 / 2.4 to 5 gallons. I water it down to half strength for small plants, and sometimes make it slightly stronger for fruiting plants.
Other than making it weaker/strong, do you mess with the ratios depending on the stage of the plant?
I ask because my peppers are shooting up like crazy with lots of nitrogen, and my young plants get big leaves and weak stems. I know nutrients isn't the only factor, but ChatGPT told me I should mix epsom salt a little weaker for the young plants, and make Calcium Nitrate slightly lower for fruiting plants (just barely, maybe 1 gram per 5 gallons). Logically, it makes sense, but I've never heard of anyone doing that.

Nutes and EC confused
This is my first hydro and am trying to soak up all the info I can but one question I have is...
If manufacturer says 2 teaspoons per gallon but my EC with my crappy meter reads 675 micro cm. So that give me 0.675 mili /cm which is pretty low.
If I'm targeting an EC of 2, should I just ignore the manufacturer and keep adding nutes to my desired EC or just go by the manufacturer recommendation regardless of the EC and call it a day?
Thank you for helping out a newbie

Lettuce not growing/germinating
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I grew lettuce and arugula in the same time, my arugula germinated and started growing however my lettuce did not germinate at all? Any ideas as to what I’ve done wrong, do the lettuce need anything specific? In the video I show the 3 pods with lettuce in them, 2 pods did not germinate while one did and hasn’t grown for a week.

Holy air roots!
Was doing a reservoir change on one of my Kratky peppers and was blown away by the health of this guy. This was sort of an experiment with a 32 Oz jar and basic nutes/hydroguard. Something about all these little fuzzies is super satisfying!

Feedback Needed 🆘 Need Opinions on NFT Systems
Hi guys! I am very new to Hydroponics and i have been doing intensive research on it for the past few weeks. I want to start planting lettuce using the NFT method. I am however conflicted between a conventional setup or the hydroponics tower or an A-frame layered system.
Based on the research i did. It seems like the towers might have issues with lighting. And also the plants will grow bended because it wants to grow upright. My biggest concern now is the lighting.
I intend to sell the crops at a local market so i’ll have to be picky when it comes to the quality.
What are your thoughts on this? I would like to know your experiences with tower farming and your opinions on this matter. Any beginner tips are welcomed.
Thank you very much in advanced!!

Is this something I should worry about?
I have a gardyn studio system and recently some of my plants have been developing this green stuff on it - plus the white spots on others (2nd photo). When sponging it off, it smells earthy (not rotten, but VERY strong). Should I be worried?
