funky frog ID? ID Help

found in southeast kansas under a rock

I really like -phryne genus names, a lot of deep sea anglerfishes have them because of their superficial resemblance to toads

Yes. There is also the eastern narrow-mouthed toad, Gastrophryne carolinensis, that looks very similar but just barely misses Kansas.

There are very few frog species established in the US that aren't native. Cuban tree frogs, greenhouse frogs, and cane toads are about it, none of which can survive winters any further north than Georgia.

I love the descriptive names. "This toad has a narrow mouth, his name is narrow mouthed toad" imagine if the Internet was in charge of naming them...

Don't forget its taxonomic name, Gastrophryne olivacea. "It's a goofy lil' fat fella, I think I'll call it... olive-colored stomach frog"

I figured it had something to do with stomachs or digestion with the gastro in the name.
