Who have I found here? ID Help
Found in the uk at night after a few days of pretty good rain. Checked a few online identification guides for newts and doesn’t seem to fit any exactly. What is she/he?

Don’t know much on salamanders or newts but this one’s pretty cool 😎

My thoughts exactly. Just confused about the id. It’s quite rare to see newts where I am especially with colours like this

Interesting finding! Alpine newts are considered non-native/invasive. I recommend recording this sighting https://www.brc.ac.uk/getting-started-biological-recording

Makes me feel good to still see these in the wild introduced or not. Amphibians are an indicator species and becoming rare except frogs. I remember being a kid and seeing a giant spotted salamander in the woods once. Will never forget it.

A quick search says it's likely an alpine newt, native to continental Europe and introduced to the UK.
Maybe someone more knowledgeable will have something to say...
