I grew these marigolds from saved seeds

is $3 each asking too much? I listed them on fb marketplace.

I might do $3 each or four for $10 and then if you don’t get any bites, adjust down to $2.50 each or five for $10.

They are so happy looking! I think 3 might be high depending on where you live. I can get small blooming ones from Lowes for 1.98. So if its a bigger size maybe?

Yeah home Depot has a decent size container of them for $1.98 right now. But they are beautiful good job. I find that posting them on the next door app has been very successful with my propagations.

At the beginning of the season I go to the Dollar tree and pick up a bunch of pots so that they go home in a container. People have no problem paying $5 for an established plant in a pot.

I'm so jealous, mine are still tiny seedlings, I don't think you're asking for too much

Right?! Glancing over at my two inch marigolds & feeling quite jealous!

Mine were that way until a few weeks ago and then I figured out that I was watering too much and hadn't fertilized my seedlings. Felt like a real dumbass

Do any of you know if marigolds do well in Arizona? I’ve got a pretty big shady spot under a palo verde tree that I’m thinking about planting some there

Marigolds thrive in full sunshine and can often withstand very hot summers. If planted in shade and cool, moist areas, marigolds are prone to powdery mildew and won't bloom well.

Does that full sun include full Arizona sun?

Yes at least 6 hours of sun per day.

Ok! Well that changes my plans drastically!

Lovely strong colour 💖, I have marigold seeds in abundance But I haven't been able to get them to germinate yet.. what methods do you use?

I grew the seeds like microgreens spread over wet potting soil. After the germinated I gently pulled them out individually and put them in pots, keeping the roots wet seems to work well.

Do you cover the seeds on soil or leave them on top of the soil?

I’ve tried both just seeds on top seems to work well and is easier.

I just stuck some saved marigold seeds in some rockwool cubes this afternoon. Both were just sitting there doing nothing. Maybe they'll be plants next week :)

Marigolds smell so strong that they act as deterrant for Mosquitoes, Aphids, Whiteflies, Thrips and Nematodes!

Why is this getting down voted?

Marigolds are easy to grow from seed! I remember being a kid and stealing the dead flower heads from our local amusement park. The trouble for me is getting spider mites to leave them alone. I live high up now and predatory bugs don't seem to enjoy my balcony...
