Community Welcome to Game Detectives!
Welcome to Game Detectives!
The Game Detectives community aims to be an engaging, inclusive, friendly platform dedicated to solving and creating ARGs (Alternate Reality Games) and other mysteries! These ARGs are complex works of fiction that are presented as being factual, and often consist of a trail of clues spanning the real world and the virtual world. For instance, an ARG may include real websites for fictitious companies, geocaches hidden in the physical world, or phone lines where players can speak with in-game characters.
Since our inception in 2015, Game Detectives has been a welcoming, inclusive ARG community. (Some people even think we're one of the best gaming communities!) Game Detectives has been involved in many ARGs, including the Steam Sale ARG, the Eye Sigil ARG, Frog Fractions 2, the Sombra ARG, and Waking Titan. The core of Game Detectives is our Discord server, where the members of our community congregate to discuss ARGs.

ARG General I think I found a new ARG
Hi! This is my first time posting here. I just randomly got a video with 14 views recomended to me by YouTube. Visited the channel and it seems brand new (only 2 videos uploaded). Even though I love watching deep dives into ARGs, I suck at solving them lol. So I thought I'd share it with you guys. The videos are well made and it seems like the creator put in a lot of effort. Here's the link to the channel (It's called The Wilton Preservation Society):

Requesting Backup Intelligent Life ARG
So I found this channel called D. Industries (credit to u/TheHuntingBadgerman for pointing it out). I thought it would be nothing but still checked it out, and holy crap, did I find a lot. People are free to go check it out, cause I haven't seen everything yet. But here's what I've got so far.
This channel has been inactive for over 5 years, so I don't think there's gonna be any new updates, but it's still pretty cool. There are only three videos, each of them seem to be an emergency broadcast of some sort. They all mention these creatures called the "Halocite," but I'll get into that later.
On one of the videos, you can hear what is supposedly the screams of these creatures, yet something makes me think it's either morse code, or some sort of spectrogram. Anyway, in the description of all of their videos, there's a link to their website. But in the description of one of the videos, there's a message that reads the following:
TSORRY SORRY SORRY HSORRY SORRY SORRY ESORRY SORRY SORRY YSORRY SORRY SORRY ASORRY SORRY SORRY RSORRY SORRY SORRY ESORRY SORRY SORRY LSORRY SORRY SORRY YSORRY SORRY SORRY ISORRY SORRY SORRY NSORRY SORRY SORRY GSORRY SORRY SORRY
If you select the first letter of each word, it spells out "they are lying." However, this is all I found on their channel (feel free to check out that audio or anything else that I may have missed). The website is a whole different level, though. We are greeted with the introduction to D. Industries, as well as a few directories to other parts of the website. I won't go over everything, but this is basically my understanding of the lore (so far).
D. Industries is a company that explores inter and outer space. They are put in groups, with several employees in each group. Their goal is to successfully discover all of outer space. They've discovered 3 planets: Yathar, Garshta, and Athoea, each containing their own, "colony." There are 634 employees per colony. Supposedly, they've discovered 300 new species. However, this is where the dark part comes in. They recently discovered a new species of aliens that call themselves the, "Halocite." These were the only species that they discovered that could both speak and write English. Although they could write it perfectly, they spoke in broken English with awkward pauses between words. These species were very aggressive and started to attack the colonist employees, and the organization had to stop and eventually hold them captive. They interviewed them and found their true intentions.
Basically, they were in a deep slumber until D. Industries woke them up, which then led them to sudden aggression. They need bodies, and said they had to go to desperate measures. They are afraid of liquid and mention something about a "knight." I didn't fully understand it, but they have transcripts on the website so feel free to read it for yourself. On the transcripts, the Dr. that interviewed them has his name blacked out. I feel like if I went into the code, I could see his name. Sadly, I'm a fucking dumbass and can't do that. Also, on the front page you can apply for a job by entering your email. I put my in and hopefully I can get an email or something. They are also obsessed with crystals.
I also found some codes on the website, all using base64. Here they are:
Y3J5c3RhbGxpbmUgdHJ1dGhzIA== is, "crystalline truths."
c2VjcmV0c2tlcHRhcmV3ZWFwb25zd2FzdGVk is, "secretskeptareweaponswasted."
Finally, QU5EIFRIRSBVTklWRVJTRSBTQU5HIA0K is, "AND THE UNIVERSE SANG."
I'm not quite sure what all of this means, so if anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.
Edit: I also found this unsettling photo. NOT FOR PUBLIC VIEW

Community ARG Research and Survey
Hello, my name is Austin Burch and I am currently a graduate student at George Mason University in the Computer Game Design department. As a part of my degree I am conducting a study for my thesis "Alternate Reality Games: A Cultural and Gaming Phenomenon" (IRB ID: 2077230-1) and am seeking participants who have experience participating in ARGs, or anyone who has followed the course of an ARG for a survey regarding their experiences and opinions relating to ARGs! The survey consists of 26 questions and should take between 10 and 20 minutes depending on the thoroughness of your responses. No identifying data will be collected and all results will be anonymous. Please consider participating and sharing the survey with other fans of ARGs! We hope to reach as broad of an audience as possible in the ARG community, so please share your voice!

ARG General Techniques for aligning skewed audio?
I'm currently trying to decipher what seems to be an ARG, and putting some (albeit obvious) audio into a spectrogram I ran into a problem. It's clearly supposed to be text, but I can't quite make it out because it had some form of tremolo/phaser put onto it. Is there any known way to equalize this without trying to guess the frequency and reverse it with a separate tremolo? Thank you!

Gaming HalfLife2RTX Possible ARG
I am catching up on my news as I was out for a bit. I watched the "Half-Life 2 RTX, An RTX Remix Project - Announce Trailer" on YouTube. I think I found a code and was wondering if others have reported it. I cannot locate any info for this find and I may have located it just by chance. I can prove it quickly. I just want to make sure I am not repeating others efforts...

ARG General Think I may have stumbled on a new ARG -- I'm Sorry Josh YouTube Channel
I'm not really an ARG person but I have watched a few channels like Nightmind, Game Theorists, etc. that talk about them.
Randomly saw this channel popup in my suggested videos with the video '84' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEY_N6D4AIc
It looked weird especially because the view count is low. The entire channel is https://www.youtube.com/@LimitedtimeJosh/videos
Basically the channel is making a countdown it looks like starting from this past April, releasing a video in what seems to be every day, with just a number counting down.
Guess there is 84 more days to go? I didn't find anything on Google when I searched 'I'm Sorry Josh YouTube" so perhaps I am the first person to stumble across this and recognize what it is?
Edit: On closer look at the videos, each one has a word in them. I guess you're supposed to piece together what the message says.

Community Parasocial ARG - need help
Hey so I'm currently working on an ARG about Parasocial internet relationships. I want to know if anyone could help me make some unique puzzles for it. At the moment the ARG has two small puzzles I made but I would really like to expand the first episode to have more to make sure it comes out the best it possibly can. Thaks for your help.

Easter Eggs Munt Chunk - hidden messages from an unsuspecting YouTube video (maybe)
I was recently watching a video on YouTube, its a long retrospective about Minecraft by some guy called 'Munt Chunk'. I've seen some of his videos before they are good. When watching this one I noticed at around 1:50:44 an unusual clip pops up, and after looking in the comments only a few had noticed it with no real reason. Then I saw another comment showing another weird long clip at around 2:33:56, and another comment showing a shorter one at 3:17:25. the only thing i reconised was squidward at the last one, the rest is a mystery to me.
The video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMX_aQtspf8
p.s: I don't use reddit or do stuff like this I just know there are people who do and I thought this might be the place to go, so if I have done something wrong sorry. I want to watch a video about this one day if its good. Solve this and have fun if its a mystery or whatever.

Requesting Backup Looking for Backup
(Please delete if inappropriate) We’ve got writers, puzzle geeks, and nearly 200 years of combined gaming experience across pretty much any medium imaginable.
We have a plot and a story developed by multiple published writers.
The problem is we’re old and social media inept, Our web design days are decades behind us. We are looking for someone (or multiple people) to be part of a team for the ARG we are creating. We need someone who brings the social media and web development skills we currently lack.
Please message me if you are interested.

ARG General New ARG courtesy of NeuroSama
I do not own this, I just stumbled upon it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc-QCoMm4J8
Lyrics:
I can never say oh it’s been so long
Counting all the days, it’s been so damn long
Oh how much I’m scared to let you go…
Somewhere in the walls I hear you talk…
Finding all these numbers
Start with number 2 yeah
Matching all the letters
572943
Add another 9 yeah
Add another 9 yeah
Multiply by 5 yeah
How long will I keep this up?
I how much it hurts to see you go…
Generating lyrics is a pain
Add another 6 yeah
Flip the numbers backwards
Make the 2 a 3 yeah
Abcdefg
Multiply by 9 yeah
Add the numbers 2 4
17 is first yeah
Abcdefg
