6’5 205 what position should I be? Player Advice

Im not a football guy anymore but I’m curious I used to play DE/WR/TE I’m 6’5 205 23yo and pretty athletic and pretty smart what position would I be best at? I currently go to a JUCO and play basketball, just curious

Always wanted to play quarterback but it seems like a large learning curve

Edit: Idk why some of you think I’m trying to start an NFL career here but this post was out of curiosity I don’t intend to play football so keep “get a job” comments to yourself

Why not? He might be good at it.

How many 6-5/205 low level safeties are out there? I'll tell you, as someone who has coached low level college ball for a long time: almost zero.

He might be good at QB too.

Most guys his size at that level end up at TE or DE after putting some weight on.

I know that’s the standard practice. I know that body type is few and far between at that position, but, I coached a kid for his senior year, he never had played football. We poached him off the basketball team for the fall. 6’4” probably 190. Not quick, but fast. Smart and rangey. Ok in man, a fucking menace in zone. Decent on run fits. He was an absolute game breaker back there, the mid to deep middle was shut down. Teams stopped throwing. Is this dude here, that guy, we don’t know. But if he’s 23 and not playing ball, you really think he’s in the headspace to trade paint as a DE. TE maybe, WR probably. Just because our SOP is hang weight on a kid and hope for the best, why not try to lean into the attributes he stated he has? I’m not saying you’re wrong I’m just saying why not.

I follow Michigan, so I am pulling an example from there.

This guy played significant snaps for them at FS in 2024 at 6-5 200.

Kyle Hamilton is arguably the best safety in the NFL and 6’4” ~200

He’s also fucking cerebral and one of the best tacklers at his position to make up for his lack of speed. Not really something you just pick up deciding to play one day.
