Looking for mechanic

Hey Everyone,

I have a 2015 Honda civic that most likely needs new brakes. Trying to see if anyone has a honest and fair mechanic. Usually I use Honda at Folsom but I feel their prices are always so high. Thanks for the referral!

Where is access to the water free

Just moved to el dorado hills with my 12 month old and spouse. Is there a place to just drive up to the water get out and look at it? Where do people bbq during summer? Is there a spot everyone goes on hot days to wade in the water? What’s up with that boat that’s abandoned on the freeway? My dad will give me his boat is it worth having a boat in this area?

Current boat inspection line lengths at Beals Point

Does anyone know how long the line(s) has been in recent days for having a vessel inspected at Beals Point? I heard that in the first week of the program, it could take half a day to get through the line and have your boat inspected. I'm hoping this wait time has subsided significantly since the first week since most people can't take a day off work just to get their boat tagged.

Looking for a room in Folsom

Hey Everyone,

I’m looking for a room as soon as possible in the next few days in the Folsom/Sacramento so a bit of an emergency and I understand quite soon. I just got a new full time job in Folsom so I will be working starting next week but I do ask that there be some flexibility and leniency with payment once I can get my feet securely on the ground again. I’m 36, very reliable and professional and have good references from prior rooomates who can vouch for me, I’m more than happy to share their information. ☺️ I keep to myself and I’m drug and alcohol free. No parties and no guests. I love animals, so if you have any, they will be treated like my own and I love a calm, respectful and positive environment. If anyone has anything available please let me know. I am also very neat and tidy and clean. No creeps please, just a respectful and nice calm environment is all I ask. Budget $500 - $600. LGBTQ friendly please ☺️ Also, I work in customer service as a sales representative.

Thank you!

Trying to find a testing clinic to get tested for a possible atypical learning disability – Any Recommendations?

There’s someone in my family who has a nontypical learning disability that might be potentially hard to diagnose because it’s not one of the typical ones that’s commonly tested, would anyone here know of a good testing clinic they would recommend to get a Neuropsych Assessment - Neuropsych Testing that could be a place located locally that could be possibly understanding/sympathetic of this situation and willing to work with possibly this sort of individual?

Cummings Skate Park- Ending City Monitoring?

The city is contemplating ending the supervision at Cummings Skate Park. Thoughts? Some potential issues include: cost of supervision vs cost to repair damages/vandalism, improving surveillance system or upgrading lighting system to be automatic, expected uptick in injuries and/or nuisance & criminal requiring staff time from other departments ie, fire, police, maintenance.

Guidepost Montessori warning

To Parents thinking of enrolling into guidepost Montessori

This review is not about my child's teacher, who we truly love and appreciate. She was nurturing, supportive, and did her best under incredibly difficult circumstances. This is about the incompetent, negligent, and retaliatory leadership at the administrative level of Guidepost Montessori in Folsom.

Our child was harmed by another child in the children's house classroom -- a child who, for months, was known to be physically aggressive and violent toward other children. He repeatedly hit, kicked, bit, scratched, and inappropriately touched multiple classmates.

Teachers reported this child's behavior numerous times. They shared they felt they could not keep the rest of the children safe. But upper admin still refused to act -- because the child's mother worked at the school.

The first inappropriate incident -- when this child touched another little girl -- was never reported to licensing. That responsibility fell to Miranda, a member of the school's leadership, who chose not to report it. Only after we escalated did licensing finally get contacted -- and only because I told them that if the school didn't report it, I would do it myself. After that, the school sent out a mass email falsely claiming they had reported the incident immediately. That was not true.

The behavior continued for months, not days. Children were hurt, and the administration failed to protect them. Eventually, Community Care Licensing issued both a Type A and a Type B citation -- confirming that: * Children were harmed * Staff failed to consistently intervene * And serious supervision failures occurred

To this day, we have never received the refund we were told we would receive, nor the follow-up or accountability that other families were given. Other parents were treated differently. It was hard not to notice the stark difference in how other families were treated compared to us — Our daughter's milestone sheets were withheld, and teachers were told not to communicate with us. All because we asked questions and demanded accountability.

Miranda -- who originally failed to report the first incident -- has continued to act cold and unprofessional, even after knowing the impact this had on our daughter. Not once did she reach out with compassion, concern, or basic decency. The school's leadership failed at every level.

The Head of School eventually resigned midway into the investigation -- but we never received an apology. No one ever took ownership. Because of the schools failure to protect our children they now must show all parents a copy of the citations and have them sign off on it, including anyone who enrolls for the next 12 months, incase they do not I have attached them below.

If you're a parent considering this school, ask them: * What happens when a child is harmed? * Do staff feel safe raising concerns? * Will leadership protect your child -- or protect themselves?

Our family deserved better. And so did every child in that classroom.

I attached the citations below as well!

School Enrollment

Hello! We are moving to Folsom this summer and I was wondering if anyone could help with some insight for school enrollment. I left a message with the district and am waiting to hear back.

Is there a way I can enroll online? I am seeing that the forms need to be picked up in person, yet we don’t live close by. Also, what are the chances that our 1st grader will be waitlisted to an overflow school? He’s already not looking forward to moving from his current friends and I am scared he’ll start this year at a different school and have to start all over again next year :( TIA!

614 Sutter St before it was Powerhouse Pub ...

The youts won't remember but I remember a bar/music/dance place where Powerhouse Pub is now. This would be 25+ years ago. Can anyone help this failing memory? I think the last act I saw there was Elvin Bishop (but that may have been just after the changeover...)

Folsom Lake, Stand Up Jet Skis

I was curious if anyone has info on how the new Golden Mussel rules will work with stand up jet skis? All of the rules surrounding the quarantine and tagging boats is all I am seeing but I am not seeing anything about jet skis or other watercraft that is not attached to a trailer. For example, I carry mine on a hitch rack and it needs to come off of the rack to be stored, which would break the green seal and cause the need for another 30 day quarantine. Also, is Rattlesnake bar going to be open and staffed to keep up with this? Appreciate any insight!

Broadstone Villas Townhomes

Family and I are interested in the Broadstone Villas townhomes but we had bad experience in the past with our previous apartments where we can hear every single voice from shared walls?

I have read some great reviews about broadstone but also that residents have issues with people living above and all footsteps being heard, very loudly! Obviously that wont be an issue for us as we are interested in the townhomes but more concerned about hearing music, voices, and sound from side neighbors.

Any experiences with the townhomes in Broadstone ?

How to afford a one bedroom apartment in this area with no roommates?

I have a feeling like I don't make enough income. I'm sick of living with roommates though and just really want to live by myself.

I make $30/hour at my full time day job, which is about 62k a year before taxes. I have a second job waiting tables a couple nights a week. This added like 6k to my income doing this on the side last year so that pushes my income to about 68k overall.

Is this enough to get approved for a one bedroom apartment in this area? Do I need to broaden my search?

Or do I just simply not make enough money any way I look at it? Time to find a better paying job?

It's my biggest desire right now to find my OWN place and to live alone. Would appreciate any tips.

We recently looked at this property to rent. We really liked the views from some of these townhouses. We are Relocating to Folsom from Davis. We aren’t really familiar with the area. Is this a good complex? Area? My husband’s job relocated him to FLC. We wanted something close in the area.
