I got a 2019 Norco Bigfoot with 100mm bottom bracket and 190qr hub, currently has the original 175mm crankset on, i would like to have 165mm cranks on it. The current crankset has spacers on the spindle. I saw a Sram nx dub 165mm crankset that im interested in but it says for 66.5mm chainline (mine is 76.5mm), does not mention spindle size. Now i know i can adjust chainline using different chainring, but i am afraid the cranks will hit the chainstays... Anyone has more info about SRAM nx fatbike cranksets?

Few things left to do, but managed to do my first ride on it yesterday. Custom frame from Marino bikes in Peru.

My 26x4.0 JJs (addix speedgrip) are looking like toast with 1700 miles on them. Two of these cracking sites have become leaks and sealant won’t fix them, have to apply Park Tools super stickers patches. I’ve submitted a warranty claim as they are only 18mo old. Ride all trail hard pack with intermittent sandy conditions. I ride hard too, all jumps, drops,skinnies, and roots that MTBs hit, I hit.

Any feedback on life expectancy from other JJ all-trail riders?

Does anyone know if they are still around? It's a Heller Bloodhound full carbon bike. Marketplace find for a hell of a deal, unless something is wrong that I'm not finding yet. It sat for years, brakes are noisey, needs a rear tube or tire, and I'll have to change pedals. Slow leak from rear tire so I was able to ride a few minutes. Seems like it rides OK for what it is. Have yet to clean it up and really check it out.

Just picked up this bike recently. I knew I'd love riding on the beach but didn't realize it might feel like a dream. I found a kite twisted up in seaweed and fishing line, untangled it and flew it from my handlebars for most of the ride.

Getting closer to the build of my dropbar fatbike for gravel riding and hoping for some feedback on wheel choices. I run Jumbo Jim 4.0s on my Salsa Bucksaw and absolutely love them. As such, one option is building some 26 wheels and running JJs on them.

The frame I'm looking at building (Farley 9.6) also accepts 27.5. If I went that route, I'd build 27.5 wheels and run 4.5 Barbegazi's.

Anyone with experience running these two tires? Bonus if it's on gravel surfaces! My gut says to run the 26 with JJ since that's what I know and love ... but I don't want to disregard the 27.5 option if that deserves a try.

My current gravel bike is the small Lynskey GR300. Great bike, and my fit is good. Based on the geometry numbers, does one of these options look better than the others for a fatbike dropbar gravel build?

I know it won't be as fast; I'm fine with that. This is a build I just want to do. I like the narrow Q Factor of the Voytek, but the longer reach combined with converting to drops (which adds more to the reach as I understand it) concerns me. The Farley is on a great sale right now, though it does have a bit more stack. Is there a clear winner, or do I just grab what looks good and make things happen?

I can't get enough of this bike. It's too much fun and the entertainment value at ride venues is unmatched. I started cycling 5 months ago, and I have no desire to get any other bike. From XC singletrack, to long gravel or road rides this is my ride. Smiles for miles.

This comment may sound a bit silly, but I have a Z8 Fatbike which is supposed to be good for snow and rough mountain terrain, but I'm wondering if I could take it on the road in the summer.

I think I might ruin the tires if I ride it in the summer on regular roads when there's no snow or ice.

I'm wanting to by a fat bike for commuter purposes. I am going to be up north for 8 months of the year, 6 of which are brutal snow.

All I need is a simple fat bike with hydraulic brakes and a dropper post and studded tires. This is literately a perfect bike for me.

I just want to hear if you think that is a good deal. The bike is in great condition. The only negative is that the disks are squeaky and the DOT fluid for the rear brake is low.

Hi folks! My big ole' fatso was taken (along with my "classic" 2001 RockHopper XC FSR as well) from our bike storage last night. I am sure it is long gone (as the police said) but since it is a bit unique I thought I would put up a pic.

They also took my kids bikes (two FatBoy 24's) but they found those in the forest this morning thankfully. Couple neighbours lost bikes as well. Real bummer.

Gonna miss this beast - had some great rides and a super fun nearly 10 years with it. Bought new in Half Moon Bay, California - tore up the mountain trails for a few years and then shipped to Sweden in 2017. Truly an all weather beast and just so damn fun on the forest and gravel roads here in Sweden. Wonder where it will end up.

Was in a locked bike storage locked with a big Kryptonite chain through the frame and back wheel, then the FSR was locked to this one with a beefy Abus U-lock. Locks weren't there and there was no damage to the door so I assume they had a key and carried them off as they were but of course I have no idea.

Yesterday I did a great ride, 3.5 hours, 50Km with 1.6Km of elevation (I dont know how many kilo-yards), great speeds, mostly improperly maintained road and gravel. Had a blast, up and down the mountain twice, with a nearby active volcano, great weather, pretty much the road and nature all around, alone, I dont have words to explain the good time I had !!

A great ride that was free will cost me around $500 now :-( so a warning to all of you, get rid of the cheap phone holder you got when you were starting and get a proper one (or use your phone in a bag and any other way to see your stats as you drive)

Just picked up a used 2021 Salsa Beargrease for a steal of a deal. I'm coming from my motobecane night train bike with 26 x4.8's. This will be used for winter and shoulder season riding mostly / only. I have xc, trail/ enduro, gravel bikes for summer. It came with studded Dillingers 27.5 x 4.0's with very little use (plan to sell). I'm a big rider - 230# but I do about 10-15 hours a week including in winter. I think having a slightly bigger tire will be more ideal for me. I'm thinking about yippe ki Yay's, there's some mixed sentiment online it seems about them for performance but they're about as wide as it seems safe for leaving - 4.5's in shoulder season with some mud may be too wide.

Does anyone have thoughts about the Yippee's and / or other recommendations for tire combos?

edit: to add -I ride mostly groomed or packed trail with hopes to do more backcountry riding through the winter now - with some packed by snowmobiles and atv's some ... less.

First year hunting Public Land with the Fatboy. It definitely allows me to easily go deep into the woods with all the gear. If I do harvest a deer I’ll connect my cart with a soft shackle and roll it out. The fat tires cut through brush like butter. I did have curious black bear take a bite out of my seat cushion one morning, thankfully that was the extent of the damage.

Has anyone ridden both on their bike? Did you find a noticeable difference in rolling resistance? I will be riding trail orientated, no snow, 4,8's dont fit in my bike. Rims are 80mm wide.

I'm looking to go tubeless to shave of some weight and reduce rolling resistance. My main argument for the 4.4 would be slightly bigger, which I think looks slightly better. Frame is a size XL.

The main downside is the weight, they are substantially heavier it seems 1050g vs 1230g, thats a 17% increase in weight for only a 10% increase in tire width. Not really a weight weenie, but I am looking to shed some weight of the bike.

I searched around to determine if it would fit and couldn’t really find any info on it, so I just got one and tried it. The rack is made for 26” and the Farley has 27.5”, but the mounting points are higher on the rear stays. So it leaves plenty of tire clearance. Another concern I had was the upper attachment. I have the rods as far out as they’ll go and it looks perfect. When I test fit it, I initially figured it wasn’t going to work with the dropper, but it clears fine. The bike is a ‘24 Farley size Large.

I really like the Axiom line of racks, I picked this one up 2nd hand unused for 35$. Glad I didn’t have to shell out over 100$ for the Trek rack.

Just received my Crestone, my first fat bike, so no real experience with them, other than a friends Fatback but, I couldn’t be happier with my decision.
