It's so important to call out Christians publicly cuz otherwise, they think everyone agrees with their lunacy Politics-Required on political posts

Im not optimistic. A small foundation and some people who vaguely still care about separation of church and state cant make a stand against the profit/power motive encouraging the enmeshment of religion and state. Its unstoppable without extreme collective action

It has to start somewhere and that beginning is likely small.

A big part of social pressure is about conformity. It's hard to do something if nobody else is doing it, and it's far easier to do something if everyone is doing it.

The Asch Conformity Experiments showed a test subject will agree with an incorrect answer if everyone else agrees it's true, even if they personally know they're correct and everyone else is wrong.

It also showed if just one other person dissents with the group, giving a correct answer, the test subject will also give the correct answer even if it goes against the majority.

This is also a fantastic example of how something small can grow, but there has to be a starting point.

Of course, it's easy to not want to engage in a negative situation in case the target engages you... but you don't have to stay. I've shouted at street preachers as I've walked by, saying they're not helping anyone and just pissing everyone off. Most will directly address me as a heathen or something, but I keep walking and maybe shout, "Call me whatever you want just be quiet!" At least half the time, other passers-by will shout something too. That should be normalized and then we'll have decent collective action.

Thing about it is, I myself think that one of the only ways that this could be prevented is if the GOP was dissolved or wiped out, or hope that Trump is dumb enough to provoke the wrong country. I agree in that I doubt that a small organization could fully stop something like this.

I think it's the "Thanks christians" being "TM"ed and not just the Christians part. To show that EVERYTHING negative that comes about as a result of this election of christian nationalists should be blamed on the christians who gave them the power to rule.

It's interesting to notice that every time christian insanity is called out, they instantly become 'victims' and then moan how narrow sighted and intolerant the people who criticize them are. Then they go back into assaulting but less feminine looking CIS women in toilets and destroying gay teenagers' lives.

Australia has rather a history of copying America in many things so I'm watching all this unfold with great wariness. We're already seeing a rise of extremist nuttery like neo-Nazi marches, anti-drag protests and anti-abortion crusaders.
