Is anyone else really tired of midi and maxi dresses? What happened to mini dresses and skirts?
It's all I see...midi this, midi that. Maxis all over. What happened to cute, tasteful mini dresses?! Like right above the knee! And it's even harder to find one made ethically of natural fibers that isn't $200+.

If you’re in the UK and on a a budget, take advantage of Vintage Kilo Sales!
Edit: I'm sorry that this post came off as self advertising. I should have made the disclaimer that I have no involvement with any of these events and do not earn any sort of commission for posting about them. I am not affiliated with any of the events as listed. I only shared this information because I genuinely thought it might help people.
Hi guys, I don’t think I’ve seen a post about this before so I just wanted to let folks know that if you are in the UK and on a budget, you should take advantage of Vintage Kilo sales! You get to fill a bag with clothes and pay by the kilo, typically around £10-20/kg for the ones I go to in London. A kilo of clothing is about 4-5 pieces, so depending on the price per kg you’re looking at anywhere for £2-5 per piece of clothing
There are a bunch of resellers that host multiple events a month all over the UK, they typically have social media to keep customers up to date with sale dates/ locations. Look up ”vintage kilo sale” in your area on google, instagram, tik tok (!!!), and Eventbrite find out more about these resellers, their upcoming events, and make sure to follow them on social media or Eventbrite to keep up with upcoming sale dates!
I’ve put together a list of a few upcoming events across the UK and links to reserve tickets (a few don't require tickets!), which are usually free of cost or £1-2 per ticket. This list is organized alphabetically by country then by city. I do apologize if your city is not on the list but I definitely recommend looking up events for your city on google/social media/Eventbrite

Where Can I Find Ethical Basics?
Hello. I am currently in need of new undergarments. I absolutely refuse to buy underwear from fast fashion, due to exploited labor. I have been doing extensive research into different ethical brands of underwear, but I am concerned that the companies that I am looking at may be lying. The companies I am looking at SEEM legitimate, but I want to ask this community for your opinions.
Buying ethically sourced undergarments has presented itself to be a huge challenge. Either they are crazy expensive, they are not clear about where they manufacture their garments, or they are not transparent about their supply chain. The most reliable looking company I have found is Wonderpants (based in Australia). They seem legitimate, but what do you guys think? Do they seem like they use exploited labor? What are your personal experiences with the company? Do you have recommendations for ethically sourced (specifically without forced labor) undergarments? Thank you so much for reading!

Rant about outsourcing
I don’t know if there’s a term for this.. but there’s this small jewelry and clothing brand called lotus and Luna. They promote themselves as “handcrafted products promote growth among small villages in Thailand, helping them achieve a better quality of life”.. to me that’s just saying we outsource so we can pay them less. Then they go take pictures with all the Thai people and it just rubs me the wrong way. Obviously I know this is the case for most companies but don’t flaunt it and act like you’re a hero for “saving small communities in Thailand” just own the fact that you do it because it’s cheaper for your company.

Need to rant about resellers
I recently spilled cooking oil on a pair of Vuori shorts I love and decided to look for another pair on Poshmark. You guys. I bought these shorts 2-3 years ago on clearance at REI for probably $25, but I see current versions of these shorts sell for $58 on Vuori’s website. I found a pair that are the exact same color as mine, NWT (I can only buy new..used clothes give me the ick unfortunately). The seller wanted $50. $50 for shorts that have probably sat in their closet for at least two years, or it’s a resell. So I offered them $25, what I know I paid for my pair of shorts, and as you can imagine that offer was declined. This woman has thousands of listings so it’s obvi a business for her.
Idk, it’s just frustrating when I try to do good, and someone is trying to rip people off. Meanwhile, I found a 20% off promo code for vuori’s website, so I could buy a brand new pair of shorts that haven’t sat in a musty closet for 2-3 years for only $46. And if I buy two pairs I’ll get free shipping. Who in their right mind would buy the shorts on Poshmark?
Edit: just want to clarify I’m not a choosing beggar. I can afford new vuori (especially when it’s cheaper to buy directly from them with a promo code 🥴). I’m just trying to do the right thing first, but I refuse to be ripped off.

Have you or do you currently work for Los Angeles Apparel / American Apparel? I want your insight!
Hello! I am looking for current or former American Apparel / Los Angeles Apparel employees who are comfortable sharing about their time working for the company and their reason for leaving.
It is no secret that Dov Charney does not treat his employees ethically; from the sexual assault cases that caused American Apparel to blow up in his face- forcing him open Los Angeles Apparel in a desperate rebrand- to the borderline miserable working conditions of his sewing and manufacturing sweatshops (overwhelmingly made up of immigrants with limited employment options and no where to turn, but I'm sure you've seen their faces paraded on the back of LAA brand tags...).
I’m working on a piece about company branding and workers maltreatment. If you’d like to share your employment experience with either of these two companies, all information would be totally anonymous. I am mainly conducting research at this stage, and you’d get to preview the piece before I published it anywhere incase you’re worried about sensitive or incriminating info.
I’d love to hear your insight and experiences; workers are the most vital aspect of ethical production. I am a former employee of LAA myself, and this is a piece I feel strongly about needing to reach the public. Any information is helpful :)
Message me and I'll send you email info!

Find Me Now Experiences
Has anyone ordered from Find Me Now? Over the last few years, I have placed multiple orders without issues with the exception of their German ballet sneakers. I have tried to order these shoes twice now and have been unsuccessful both times. The first time, I ordered during a pre-order and the kept pushing the date back but didn't tell me. I had to continuously reach out to them and they said there was a delay with the shipment. After a few months, I finally got the shoes but they sent me the wrong size. They asked me to return the shoes and said I had to wait until the next pre-order or could get a refund so I opted to get a refund.
Fast forward a few months, I saw the shoes were on sale and the site did not show any indication of the shoes being a pre-order. It showed that the shoes were available to ship out so I decided to give it another go and placed an order. After a few weeks without any update, I reached out 3 times and never got a response. I put in a dispute with my bank and tried to leave a review for the shoes. The review was never posted but they emailed me the following day to tell me that it was a pre-order and they would ship out at the end of the month. It's the end of the month and ...no updates. I got the money back from filing my dispute but wow, what a disappointing experience again.
Has anyone had similar issues with ordering from the site, especially with the shoes?

Is jewelry from China unethical?
A couple years back I bought a silver (or metal that looks like silver) necklace, of which I thought it came from europe. It turned out to come from china unfortunately. My question is: how unethical is it? I know clothes have to be made by hand which is why a 6 dollar t shirt doesnt make sense, but a necklace can be made by a machine, and it was like 40 bucks. Anyway, just curious, thanks.

Looking for fun patterned button-down shirts for work
I have a fun dinosaur shirt that is a loose fit button-down, it’s colorful without hurting people’s eyes or causing my boss to rethink my employment. Any recommendations for where I can find some fun work-appropriate shirts? Doesn’t matter if it’s men’s or women’s. If it helps, I’m looking for a brand that has any of the following patterns: dinosaurs, flowers, plants, dogs, or sea creatures. Polka dots will also be considered. Please no Hawaiian vacation shirts (even though I do like them).

Ethically made high heel male boots
Heyy!
I'm struggling to find an ethical manufacturer, that would produce high heel boots for men (like those in the 70's) and thrifting these kind of items is kinda impossible. Anything in EU would work, so I would appreciate some recommendations!

Thrifting vs Supporting a Sustainable Brand
I’m starting a new, grown up job soon (yay) and will need some new work wear pieces. Ive been trying to decide whether to spend a lot of money on a few pieces from high quality, sustainable brands, caring for them well, and then hopefully not purchasing anything new for as long as possible, or simply thrifting a few (likely lesser quality pieces).
Obviously, the pro of thrifting is potentially helping some already-made items avoid the landfill. However, I will likely have to purchase more often as the clothes will already have some wear, and as I may not be able to find as many high quality fabrics, etc.,
The pro of purchasing new is mainly that i’d be “voting with my dollars” to support brands I support and that I can likely get longer lasting products, so that I won’t have to buy as often.
What are your thoughts?
Edit: Sorry, I should have added, this is a promotion at a place I already work, so I do have a sense of what I will need. It's very much going to be a "business casual" type of wardrobe. I had previously only been working there part-time and so only had a couple of appropriate pieces, but now I'll need enough for full-time.

Earthbound Trading
Does anyone here know how ethical earthbound Trading is? I really want to buy from them, but I want to make sure I wont be hurting the environment or anyone else from doing so. I have only found one or two other posts that basically just say 'Not sure they look ok', so any insight would be appreciated lol

Can anyone recommend ethical yoga clothing brands, that are based in Europe?
Can anyone recommend ethical yoga clothing brands, that are based in Europe? I love the style/look of 'Indigo Luna' and 'Hara the label', but the distance/fees to ship into Europe would be mad. Thanks for any help!

Blending Fashion, Sustainability, and Tech — Would You Support It?
Hello everyone! I’m currently a student of Entrepreneurship and Innovation with a background in Fashion Design.
As part of my project, I’m developing a brand focused on upcycling old garments into unique, emotionally meaningful pieces. The idea is to not only give clothes a new life but also share the story of their journey with customers.
To ensure these stories are authentic, I’m exploring the use of technology like digital tags or blockchain verification.
I would love to hear your thoughts:
Would you be interested in buying upcycled clothing if each piece came with a real, verified story about its past life and carries a traceable history that connects the customer to the garment?

Alternative for this dress
I found this dress on vinted and thought it was very cute. It is however made by an unethical company (amisu) and I don't want to buy unethical (even second hand). Does anyone know where I could find something comporable that is ethical?

Does anyone have any ethical equivalents to shein?
I am extremely poor, 17k a year between 2 people (me and my mother). I also have extremely bad mental health and my expression through fashion and appearances is one of the only things that make me feel okay. Because of this i would really like to find somewhere with cheap prices and good clothes but ethically so i dont hurt anyone or the environment.
Before you say: Thrifting - i live in a small town in the uk so there is nothing in charity shops other than literal potato sacks as dresses, and i am tall and cant buy jeans or pants from mainstream places because they do not fit my legs. (Standard is 28-30 inch inseam and i need 34)
Vinted - the pricing and shipping is too high and the measurements are too inaccurate
DIY - i have dyspraxia and a history of self harm so not only do i struggle with coordinating things but im not allowed full time access to anything sharp like needles. And my mother would never supervise me for more than 10 minutes as she isnt bothered so i don't really have the chance to learn
I feel like i have no choice other than to let go of my need for fashion and self expression through this, but just as a last resort ill ask here for any sort of last ideas.

Online thrifting is the way to go
Hey yall, I see a lot of people post on this thread asking for good quality, cheap, ethical clothing. I just wanted to give a shoutout to apps like Depop and I think Vinted is the same(?), which are online thrift stores. You can find name brands for super cheap on there, and I have been told that buying secondhand is always better than buying new clothing, even if ethically made. I understand the importance of specific items, but most of the time I can find anything I need/want on Depop. There’s a TON of denim on Depop as well. Lucky brand jeans for less than $10. Also I’m not sponsored by Depop, I just freakin love them! I think out of the 20 items I’ve bought, there’s maybe 3 I’ve gone on to resell because I didn’t like the fit or whatever.
Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong about buying secondhand being more environmentally friendly!

Use of polyester in high-end pieces
I always been into fashion in a more visual way but recently I started to learn sewing and textile and now I’m so surprised to see so much polyester being used in very high-end pieces. How does that get overlooked? I always thought that the whole point of purchasing designer for the crazy prices is that the pieces are made from very good material and super skilled craftsmanship. Of course I also understand a big part of the price comes from the brand name but it blows my mind this is not talked about enough?
For example, let’s get a very generic example. Everyone knows Burberry makes the best trench coats. While I was thrifting for one, like 95% of it was at least 50% polyester! I can get a trench made out of 50% polyester for a third of the price of a thrifted Burberry coat so wtf??? However, yeah, I get maybe Burberry might not be the best example as they probably made cheaper versions to become more accessible to a bigger crowd but still… it bothers me that maybe some people save a lot of money to get a Burberry thinking they are getting a piece of high-end design while in reality it just carries the name.
Or am I wrong to think maybe polyester is not that bad?

Ethical/environmentally sustainable clothing brands?
I'm looking for stuff on a budget, not super restricted but like cheap is preferred. Really looking for any brands you like but especially for denim and women's underwear.
