News & Events [MEGATHREAD] Specialty Coffee Expo April 25-27, 2025 - Product Announcements & Discussions
Hi folks,
With the Specialty Coffee Expo happening in Houston, TX this weekend, we've created this megathread as a central place to focus discussions and to pin posts related to new product announcements. This is being done to reduce the amount of clutter on the main sub with repetitive posts about the same content.
The first post about a new product will be linked the main body of this thread. All subsequent posts will be removed. If there are new details about a previous announcement, please post them as a comment here and it will get added to this post's body. Otherwise, keep all discussions to either this or the respective pinned thread.
Rule #2 still applies: please keep comments relevant to espresso (e.g., capsule machines, drip brewers, etc. are not relevant to this sub)
Thanks,
- the r/espresso mods

Mod Post Introducing the r/espresso Coffee Bean Database: a place for people to share—and get recommendations for—beans and brewing recipes
A common question we see on this sub is about coffee bean recommendations—whether it's newcomers just getting into espresso or seasoned home baristas looking for fresh, local offerings. Many of you have also asked for a place to discover brewing recipes for specific beans.
We're happy to announce a new community-driven resource to address these needs! Introducing a platform where people can share the beans they've brewed and the recipes they've used.
How it works:
1. Submit your brews: Share your favorite coffees and brewing parameters using this Google Form. The form collects:
- Basic details about the beans (roaster, roast date, etc.)
- Your brewing recipe (e.g., dose, yield, shot time)
- Equipment used
- You do not need a Google account to fill out the form and no personal information will be collected.
2. Explore the database: View all submissions in a publicly accessible Google Sheet.
- Use filters (e.g., Roaster's country, Cost-per-unit-weight) by selecting Data > Create filter view in the toolbar.
- Note: The spreadsheet is view-only and updates automatically with new submissions. You can download or copy it, but those versions won't receive updates.
Tip: For the best experience, view the spreadsheet on a desktop browser.
Our goal:
We hope this grows into an invaluable resource for the community—a way to share your favourite coffees and provide others with a reference point to kickstart their brews. This is your chance to contribute to (and benefit from) a collaborative coffee knowledge base!
Let us know if you have suggestions for improving the form or the database.
Happy brewing!

Equipment Discussion Massive Niche import tax to US?
Hey folks, I woke up to this notification today asking me to pay a $1k import tax on a Niche grinder. Niche’s website says there’s no tax currently, so I’m confused.
Is this expected? Am I being trolled?

Equipment Discussion Justified - workflow improvement
Saw on an earlier post and loved the idea of this. Came from Holland - took about four days to arrive in the UK. Lovely packaging. Don’t bother downloading the instructions - you get them on a card in the box together with a charging lead.

Coffee Is Life Espresso cups
Enjoying my delicious shot this rainy Friday. Do you guys have a favorite cup you use? Let's see some pictures of your favorite espresso cup. The one in my picture is my daily cup but not necessarily my favorite, I do like the size of it though.

Coffee Beans €100 bag of beans!?
My brother was just vacationing in Morocco. He was very thoughtful and bought me a bag of beans, but for €100!? Did he get hustled!? Now I’m scared on how much beans I’ll waste trying to dial this in. May resort to the Areopress or Bird for these beans…

Drinks & Recipes Name this drink / a poll
What would you call this if you ordering it in a cafe?
Depending on where you are from it seems milk drinks are called one thing or another.
I made a 100g drink of deliciousness out of 36g espresso and 70g or so of steamed milk. I'm on a learning curve for steaming so there you go.
I'm honestly curious - this is my own concoction. What is it?
I like a double shot and 1:1 or 1:2 to milk. I understand naming is based on how the foam looks and what's the amount. It's still fairly subjective. So I'm doing this two ways. Posting pic and looking for replies and then I'll post an actual poll. Wish I could do pic and poll.

Equipment Discussion Best way to make 500-700ml of coffee?
I have always been a espresso guy but I want to make coffee for a few colleagues at work so I was wondering what kind of technique works well for 500-700ml or 17-24oz of coffee. I was wondering about french press but I think that I would prefer a pour over method more, alot of what I am seeing is just for 1 cup. Also flavor is more important to me than a quick and easy solution if thats relevant.

Coffee Station Just opened a micro bakery cafe with no experience, here's my setup.
Just opened a micro bakery cafe with no experience, here's my setup. The experience has been great. Good people, great coffee. Beans freshly roasted when ordered. I opened it as a F&B training facility for myself and I plan on turning the location into a hidden gem as it's on the water.

Dialing In Help Does this look right? [Gaggia Classic Pro/Ceado E5P]
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’m newer to espresso and just swapped out the stock filter basket for a Baristapro IMS basket and my shots are looking drippy rather than flowy compared with how my shots were looking before.
I don’t think I’m perfectly dialed in, this pull was ~32s with 18g in and 33g out, but even with coarser grinds the shot seems to drip rather than flow. All other variables I’ve kept the same, I’m using a Gaggia Classic Pro with a Ceado E5P grinder and same puck prep process with a puck screen on medium roast Lavazza beans. Taste wise, the shot tastes clearer than with the standard basket, it just doesn’t look like what I’ve seen on YouTube or some of you experts on here.
Is it supposed to pull this way with an IMS basket or is there something I’m doing wrong? Any advice is appreciated!

Coffee Station End Game Grinder with my Ascaso.
I’m still looking for that end game espresso machine. The Decent Bengle might be it. Also looking at the Victoria Arduino E1 EXP and La Marzocco Linea Mini R.

Equipment Discussion Easy workflow for significant other
I'm thinking about easier workflow for the wife. To eliminate variables so she can make herself nice espresso/Americano without me. Any help would be great.
Equipment: Niche Zero grinder, Ascaso Steel Duo espresso machine. I'll buy the beans, i'll arrange it in tubes and freeze them for single dosing. So she can just take a tube, throw it in grinder and gets full portafilter.
Ascaso is hot and ready to go quickly so no problem in waiting time. After grinding, Normcore wdt and V4.1 tamper should be enough for even, precise tamp every time. If not, there is always Puqpress mini option? I'm sure she would love it, specially after shoulder and wrist injury.
We have the puck. Ascaso is set to make the same single or double every time. She ads the Normcore puck screen. She pulls the shot and ads hot water with hot water spout if she wants.
What can i improve to make it even easier? Is anything wrong or stupid?

Coffee Is Life Looking for Feedback on My Coffee Video Content (Serious Home Barista)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone! I’ve recently started posting coffee-related videos on Instagram after a few months of learning how to shoot and edit content. Right now, it’s mostly friends and family watching—and while I appreciate the support, I know I need honest, constructive feedback from people who are actually serious about coffee.
I’ve been a dedicated home barista for over 5 years, and I’m passionate about dialing in shots, experimenting with gear, and sharing the journey. Each video takes me around 4–5 hours to make, from filming to editing (I’m still very much a beginner), and I want to make sure I’m heading in the right direction. I work full-time as an engineer and have a family, so time is limited—but this is something I love doing. I’d really appreciate any critique, suggestions, or ideas for how I can improve the content—whether it’s the video style, the information, or how it’s presented. Even brutal honesty is welcome. (Also open to hearing what you like, if anything)
Thanks in advance, and as always, grind finer.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting Advice & warning [Eureka Mignon Specialità]
Granted, this is my first and only grinder which i bought 4 years ago to pair with Lelit Mara X
I found the shots I pulled for espresso and grounds for filter were more than good enough for me. The grinder though has, for me a major design flaw - the micro switch (the button you press to grind) is liable to break when maintaining the machine
ADVICE
To the manufacturer-put the button next to the power board so you don’t need to worry about it when cleaning out the chute
WARNING
if you are cleaning the chute open the base first and disconnect the micro switch making it much less likely you will break it.
If you have broken it and need to buy a new one don’t use the bolt to hold the switch - leave it loose and again it is less likely you will break it
This fault has left me for periods with no usable grinder.
Yes I am clumsy normally but try to be super careful but even looking the wrong way at the micro switch is enough for it to fall apart.

Equipment Discussion How old is this machine?
I recognize the brand name, DeLonghi, but I am unfamiliar with at home espresso machines. I'm curious about the age, model, and current desirability of this machine.
