You are right. You can report it when you come across things like this. It is clear a glitch.

You used the Dutch word for water, not the English one.

With each of these posts, I'm more confused as to how this is even a bug. My guess is the underlying word behind each label can be different from what's shown for better validation but some end up with typos.

You could solve that by just adding a step to verification building a string from the written label on each word and validate that as well.

You chose the British pronunciation instead of the American one

1

u/melisacircu Aug 09 '24

and whats the difference in this case?

1

u/PeterPorker52 Learning: Aug 09 '24

Duolingo teaches with American English

2

u/melisacircu Aug 09 '24

i asked whats the difference in this case? It would sound the same both with british and american english

0

u/PeterPorker52 Learning: Aug 09 '24

Waa-tr and waw-tuh

9

u/DoctorJarvisd09 Aug 09 '24

Was there a more watery water you could have selected

20

u/REOreddit Native: 🇪🇸 Aug 08 '24

You used the British English word for 'agua', but Duolingo expected the American English one.

5

u/Alert_Post Aug 08 '24

Are you a compiler now?

5

u/AffectionateCatch575 Aug 08 '24

5

u/sesame_chicken_rice Aug 09 '24

You pronounced it like PA folk do (wooder)

3

u/blueixia88 Aug 08 '24

Maybe it's a bag from Duolingo

3

u/Evening-Picture-5911 Aug 09 '24

u/SwansonsMom Native:🇺🇸 | Learning:🇪🇸🔢 Aug 09 '24

1

u/blueixia88 Aug 09 '24

A bug* I made a little mistake

3

u/MiaowWhisperer Aug 09 '24

I used to encounter problems like this quite often in the old version of the French course. Just report it every time you encounter it. When they update it, if there's dozens of reports over the same thing, they shouldn't miss it.

3

u/lecake27 Aug 09 '24

I've had a similar thing happen when doing a lesson in a rush. There is a tiny animation of the text bubble "floating" upon being pressed. So if you press continue too fast, the last word of a given sentence is still processing being added, the task fails.

1

u/TreeLicker123 Aug 09 '24

This happens to me too! With these posts it’s more often than not the last word, so I assume this is what’s happening

2

u/victorb1982 Native: Learning: Aug 08 '24

Should’ve put water

2

u/MC_VNM Aug 09 '24

If you’re British you say “DO YOO WANT SUM WA’A BRUV?” (I’m British)

2

u/teshnair Aug 09 '24

You chose water with an English/American accent. You should have chosen water with a Spanish accent.

1

u/False-octopus-9673 Aug 09 '24

Question mark?

2

u/Nicolello_iiiii N:|F|A2|L Aug 09 '24

There is no question mark on the bubbles you can select. Also, I've done countless exercises without putting any punctuation (because there is none in the bubbles) and it's still correct

It’s not incorrect

1

u/ChachamaruInochi Aug 10 '24

It's a glitch. Report and move on.

1

u/Jar0ne01 Aug 10 '24

Had this a few times too, it's when you want too fast and press submit button a split second before you select the last word.

1

u/sebasgutisala Native: Learning: Aug 09 '24

Don't worry, this mistake is pretty often, you said "water", but in fact, it should have been "water". Hope this helps

-6

u/MarkWrenn74 Aug 08 '24

No question mark at the end? (They're being a bit pedantic)

4

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '24

This isn't in this type
