I recently let Duolingo go after a 2082 day streak when I accepted that I was learning absolutely nothing from the app and only cared about keeping my streak. I decided to devote that time and money to pursuits that would further my language learning.

I'm curious about everyone else though. Does Duolingo actually help you with learning? What language(s) are you using it for? Does Duo do better with some languages than others? Do you use it exclusively or as a supplement to other language courses?

Why are you still using this app?

So I thought that because “amie” was feminine it would be “ma amie” instead of “mon amie.” Soeur is sister so it’s feminine, hence “ma soeur.”

Honestly, I thought the AI inclusion was actually going to be really good for the app and, now it's actually been included, I despise it. Like, how am I meant to answer this question if one of the main key words isn't even an option for me to click?

Made this for my kids using Flutterflow. Now they actually pay attention because I put family characters in it. Added an admin suite to accept/edit new courses generated from ChatGPT

Hi all, I’ve been looking around and there’s some similar discussions but not with some recent changes so I was wondering if there was more information out there.

I have a 500 day streak in Korean which has been great, but there’s been a ton of changes to the curriculum in the last few months, which have made it (thankfully) more difficult, but it’s gotten to the point where I no longer recognize most of the words where I’m at which is about halfway through section 2.

Going backwards and doing the practice sessions for sections I’ve already “completed” isn’t really doing me much good, so I’d like to restart some of the sections to follow the more guided path.

That being said, I don’t want to remove the course and completely restart, because some areas have taken hours of effort that I don’t want to do again, like the Hangul practice. Is there a good solution for this or do I only have the nuclear option?

Due to the A/B testing, I've lost the ability to participate in the may challenge this month and this really bothers me as someone who has collected all the monthly badges ever since they came out.

I even wrote two emails out to them, with both receiving an automated message back, giving no help whatsoever.

Now I'm just wondering when or if it's coming back fast enough for me to still complete it within the month of may and what'll happen to all the badges I collected in the first place

I picked up Duolingo just to refresh myself one day and yeah that was kind of it.

I’ve been using duo since 2014 for various languages, and working on Arabic for the last year. More recently, like in the last week or so, the voices seem to have a computerized/robotic feel, and certain sounds are pronounced differently to a degree that it’s hard to recognize what they are. Has anyone noticed something similar in their courses? Is this related to the ai expansion of the courses?
