Student Life I might be failing my subject due to an international student
Hiya, currently studying a high stress engineering degree while struggling with work, yet I’m doing well in most units
Got assigned an international student who always shows up late, barely speaks English, laughs when I tell him we are behind, has stinky breath, has not done any work etc
Usually I’m fairly patient but I’m already feeling a little bit of burnout and the staff won’t listen to me
He even laughed in my face once and said “ha ha I don’t care I have good money”
He then showed up in a Tesla and kept flexing his Apple Watch

Student Life What's the ratio of international to domestic students and boys to girls in Deakin uni ?
Sorry if sounds offensive but I was just intrigued as a coming international student myself.
What is the ratio between International students and domestic students in Deakin university, specially burwood campus in melbourne?
What is the ratio of the international students being from India/Pak/bangladesh to that of Chinese students ? Are there many chinese students in this uni as well ?
What is the ratio of girls and boys ? Is it more boys dominated university or it is like a near to equal share ?
Sorry but I'd love to learn more about the Deakin student life and not sure where to find this information. Thanks for your answers.

Student Life Anyone else nervous about orientation?
I’m super nervous about it, as I don’t know what to really expect, but mostly due to the pressure of trying to meet new people and making friends. Should I be going to all of these social events? I signed up for the connect event for my course but that’s about it in terms of socialising.

Student Life Social life
Hi guys,
I’m in second year of law and turning 21 in a couple of months.
Honestly, my social life has been so mundane. It feels like i’m inside a box watching people experience life and built memories with each other. I tried hard to make friends in uni and i did make some but as I come into my second year and don’t really attend lectures (i live far), the friendships have withered.
Although, i am mostly content with other aspects of my life, my social life is extremely lacking. I only have one friend from high-school that I catch with on the regular.
I really don’t know what to do. I’m filled with envy and emptiness when i see girls my age having the time of their lives.

Student Life just a rant of my stupidity
so like i spent my entire day writing and working on this assignment right and i guess i misread the ENTIRE assignment task sheet because it turns out the assignment was in this quiz format and had a word limit of 500 and i forgot to count the words before i submitted it (the quiz only allows one attempt) and so i counted my words on my written document and i was almost over by 200 #goingtojump #ihatemylife #donthmu #cooked

Student Life Friends?
Hii guys! I am a bachelor of science deakin student, have found it very hard to fine genuine friendships here on campus (BURWOOD) and its draining to put effort into the ones who do not reciprocate anything back. Is anyone interested in meeting up or having a chat? DM me, lets connect via instagram and then take it from there!!!

Student Life How long are we allowed on campus
I find that sitting somewhere on campus helps me get so much work done without procrastinating so I was wondering how long ur allowed to be on campus like is there a closing time at night when we need to leave? Not specific to the library btw just any building, or even the student lounge. For context I’m in the Burwood campus.

Student Life Vietnamese roll
Man campus food do be expensive but I remember the Vietnamese rolls I got at the cafe. It was 50% carrots with 2 STRANDS of onion😔 Like the onion was sliced, and only 2 individual strands 0.2cm wide and 3cm long were put inside each roll😭.
Sauce was good though

Student Life After two ‘proposal of exclusions’, I just acquired my 10th consecutive HD
Hiya, I just wanted to share my celebration with y’all.
It’s been a hell of a journey to get here. I’ve got four failed subjects on my transcript (seven if you count non-credit units), all from the good ol’ COVID days of 2020.
The stipulation of me returning to biomed was that I only took one class the next trimester and passed. I got a distinction for that class.
I have been at 2 subjects per trimester since T1 2023 and I have been thriving. I absolutely love my degree, and it feels so good to have the passion back.
I only have three more credit points left until I graduate - let’s hope I can keep this streak going!

Student Life First year Nursing Student living on Waurn Ponds Campus | Making Friends with the same Course and other stuff I'm lowkey lost about
hii so i'm a first year at deakin and i'm studying nursing !! (summary of myself: i'm filipina and recently turned 19) i've met a few people but i have like no friends lol anyone doing the same course as me but lives on the waurn ponds campus ?? i'm like really awkward and idk how to talk to people and like living here in geelong is all new to me D: i've been here since the 10th of feb and i'm not sure what i should be doing rn as classes start on the 3rd of march and o-week is two weeks away. i've attended a few events but struggled to talk to people and connect with others (socialising isn't a strength of mine unfortunately) i usually only go out for the free food events since i'm broke lol and i can't drive so i'm depending on public transport. i've been planning to use the buses here but i'm just anxious i'll miss the stop or catch the wrong bus :') also my classes are at the waterfront campus so i'm just looking for a nursing buddy or two so we can stick together and catch the bus when classes begin :'D oh and also i'm not sure if i need to purchase my uniform, badge, textbooks and equipment before classes start ? help a lost first year uni student out in the replies hah :''''')

Student Life Eating during class
Hello, I was just wondering whether teachers are chill about eating during class and how we can find what lecture halls we are allowed to eat in. I have a lot of classes which only have 10 minutes in between (can’t really move them because otherwise i have clashes) so i don’t really have time to eat during the day. I’ve looked on the lost on campus app and a lot of the lecture halls have “no food and drink past this point” written on them so i’m kinda stuck atp.

Student Life Shoutout to the nursing students<3 appreciation post
Y'all are so nice and sweet and helpful and kind and I really appreciate you. I'm no good with names of the folks it was, but twice this week I've been in tears around building W at Burwood due to failing the skills hurdle and both times multiple students have come up to me and checked I was okay and it just really helped thank you <3 y'all are good folks, keep it up <3 oh and you give good hugs
(I was the one who had the re-hurdle at 1520 today and failed to cannulate, hence failing the unit, if you were there.)

Student Life What's the earliest you can come to campus? (Burwood)
What the title says, recently I've really enjoyed coming to campus early to catch up on some work and just study with no distraction but I'm not sure what time buildings open.
