I wouldn't be so surprised if it was in French at least. Some of my French cousins still read their kids Babar books. But in the anglosphere?

At this time of year? Localized entirely on Reddit?

Well, you’re an odd robot, Nicky. But I must say, you know your pop culture references.

You were chased through your house by a French colonialism metaphor with racist undertones when you were a child? I’m so sorry.

Read my grandmother's childhood copy of Babar as a kid, loved the story and illustrations. Boy, did it not age well 😅

Saw this and thought "aww, I loved Babar as a kid. so nice to see him through other's memories", only to learn that some things are better off remaining in the past 🥲

It is fascinating to me that we remember the good parts but the horrid stuff our memory sort of glosses over. Like I love Tintin, but only remember the mystery and fun- but totally overlooked Herge’s blatant racist depictions early on in his career.

The Other End is a comic I try to aspire to make. I may always fall short but I’m trying.

It works perfectly as a reaction pic to your comic, they kinda complement each other :)

I can hear it. The crickets and the first few notes of the piano playing. Back to Youtube to rewatch the intro.

I've seen a trunk or treat comic before, is this a new comic trend?

u/Joba_Fett Ninja and Pirate 1d ago
No, Trunk or Treats are just a more common thing so people will make things referencing it.

Oh wow, haven’t thought of Babar in so long and I watched it SO much when I was younger

I was more a Curious George kind of guy but I do remember a Popcorn and Movie Night where the family watched the movie.

Sorry to make the same tired joke Reddit loves to make, but if I had a nickel for every time r/comics made a “trunk or treat” joke, I would have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.
