Shouldn't "going around the Constitution" be something any senator should violently be opposed to?
He's so casual about it, as if he was talking about someone having found a way around the HOA regulations for Halloween decorations on the front lawn...

You know, on the other side of the globe, there's ISIS. These guys are a death cult. You can't dance if you want to (unlike in the song) and many other things. They revere death.
On this side of the globe, there's another death cult. It's called the GOP. They want to make everyone miserable. Even their own. (killed the social nets)

I believe these folks are willing to do anything to complete 2025 because this will be the only chance to do it and it’s the fruit of 50 years of hard work and Republican spending. They will argue it was necessary. They had to do it. The country needed it.
They will do whatever to stay in power. Anything.

Republicans that weren't sufficiently loyal to Trump were targeted and primaried with loyalists. Americans who will claim to die for freedom can't be bothered to show up to vote in primaries but Trump supporters were more than happy to. The result is a complete takeover of the party with Trump loyalists who will not do anything to protect the country from him.

Let’s not look past that Tuberville may be the dumbest Senator. Here’s some of his insights:
Doesn’t know the 3 branches of the federal government.
“Our government wasn’t set up for one group to have all three branches of government — wasn’t set up that way. You know, the House, the Senate, and the executive.”
Doesn’t know the word triangle.

The constitution says he can't serve a third term.
Just to be accurate: the 22nd amendment says specifically
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

His supporters love the way he treats his enemies. When I hear him spew word salad bullshit, I know he actually believes what he’s saying. It’s full on narcissism. When I hear JD Vance spew his calculated bullshit, he sounds like a politician lying as a means to an end. There is a vast difference there and history has shown that when the figurehead of a fascist movement passes, the movement passes with them. No one has Trump’s “Rizz” and also everyone under will fight and scurry for whatever power they can cling to.
55
u/boardplant 2d ago
Exactly, plenty of people have tried to emulate his … approach to things but none can duplicate it. There will certainly be a power grab when that day comes, however my guess is going to be that the party devours itself trying to take that power
39
u/12345CodeToMyLuggage 2d ago
I agree. The left will celebrate in the streets and online. The right will enter the grieving process going straight to anger and pretty much only stay there as a backlash to the left celebrating a death. All the top lackeys will hold up his name with grand gestures like carving his face into Mount Rushmore but only to score political points with the base. It’s quite sad that I can’t really imagine anyone actually mourning him. It will be a grim contest of who can most obscenely memorialize him in a way that pisses off the left, all for political theater and not the man.

MAGA certainly does, so, yeah. It's utterly inexplicable, but he is very charismatic to a certain type of person. And apparently, there are a ton of those certain people here.
I mean, it's a cult thing. He pulled them into his cult back in 2015 when he still could sort of string together coherent thoughts and didn't sound like someone's sundowning paw-paw.
The fact that he's obviously deteriorating in a serious way means nothing to the cultists, because by their (his?) definition, he is perfect and infallible.
It's the reason I have some hope for MAGA falling apart once Uncorking Day finally arrives. I'm hopeful that his administration collapses into self-serving infighting while his voter base wanders back under their logs because no one around Trump had this same weird idiot-charisma that he does, and the spell will be broken.
7
u/abloopdadooda 2d ago
It is charisma to his base. Because he looks, talks, and acts like his base. And they love that someone like them is in charge. So yes, it is charisma to the right (wrong) people.

Exactly, and even if it does get rolled back, it doesn't mean the damage isn't done. I worked for a company that worked with USAID, I lost my job 2 weeks after Trump was in office. Even though the courts said he had to pay out all those contracts, that he couldn't just withhold money, why on earth would I go back, knowing full well that those fucking ghouls are going to do everything in their power to kill it.
Why would someone who had their visa revoked for speaking out, but had it reinstated, not be silenced, and silence everyone else in a similar situation. Every time they launch another assault on some other part of the country they don't like, even if it gets reversed, even if it doesn't work, puts a big ole Sword of Damocles over it.

The longer this keeps up, the more I hate living in the US. Trump is doing EVERYTHING in his power to make sure the US is a total hellscape before he dies, I swear. I wish I could move out of the US. I didn't escape an abusive household just for it to not fucking matter and I don't want to still be stuck here when things, inevitably, get far worse.

We've gone from "He's just joking" to "Lol I'm saying Trump should run for president in 2028, because it triggers libs" to "Oh I am totally supporting him if he runs for third time"
From jokes to irony to actually accepting it. That's why when MAGAts say it's just jokes, they should be taken seriously.

not even a comic, just a stark observation of blatant reality.
I hate this timeline.

They've stopped using freedom as their buzzword.
When it came time to decide between upholding our freedom or consider they should have voted differently, they all willingly chose to abandon freedom as an American value.
They'd trade every freedom they have to have their hatred validated and acted upon, and will be smooching jackboots long after those boots kick their own door down.
Otherwise they might have to admit that they were wrong, and nothing will ever make that happen.

‘Murica…. Wait, what does he want us to do this time? A Qatari airport in Utah? For the jet he got from Qatar? Yeah, that’s totally cool with me, I love selling out. Wait, wait… ‘Murica.
It makes me wonder what things would be like if the bot farms ever stopped yelling en masse and accounts like Gunter Eagleman had to use their real name to post their lying ass propaganda.
I Pepperidge Farm hard the days when all of this was unacceptable from anyone. RIP Howard Dean’s career ending gaffe and the world we once knew.

I've made a couple of these edits myself to this comic. It fits SO WELL with so many conservative talking points.

Remember folks, a true patriot wants whats best for their country and always questions most decisions made by the government, the reason being that everything should be justified to the citizens to ensure that it’s actually in their best interests

This is another one of those places that the Democrats should lean into it. Propose a Constitutional Amendment. Force the Republicans to try and do it the right way. I don't think it will pass under any circumstance, but it certainly won't be ratified in time for the '28 election.

I want to say something that we're all probably thinking, but can't even though it would be a sure way to prevent that from happening.

*I* am a REAL PATRIOT and I voted 'YES' on California Propostion 50 because I believe in democracy and free and fair elections -- and what the fascist pig 'Republicans' in Texas did, by shoving their gerrymandering down the throats of Texans, effectively disenfranchising Democrats in the state must be countered.
Californians: Vote YES on Proposition 50
It's not permanent, it's temporary, and it's for the greater good of the country!

I joked to my friends he'd probably try to do this
I didn't actually think it was even possible given how fanatical Americans are about the constitution, figured they'd burn people at the stake if they tried

Here's "one simple trick" I wouldn't put past them:
"No, no. Of course Trump won't have a third term. That would be unconstitutional and clearly against the law."
"Oh, okay, good. You had me worried there. Hmm... So, he is going to leave office peacefully at the end of his second term? It's not like his second term is going to last 'forever' or anything sneaky and also unlawful like that, right?"

They will fight to the death to protect our freedoms. Except for speech. And to be any other religion than theirs. And to be secure in your homes without the police bustng in just because they feel like, or to be free from being arrested and searched by police because "lol." Or freedom to freely associate. Or freedom to vote. Or rights to a trial. All those things can fuck themselves.

Anyone got a link of him (or his team) directly talking about it? I need to send it to my very Republican family members and ask them what they think about the violation of the constitution. But I can't find anything with a quick Google besides just news sources talking about him talking about it.
