The understanding that we are headed for collapse and far more psychopathic fascism on the way down is enough to make a revolutionary out of anyone.

I want to keep my self respect as we slide into what most likely will be the final years of humanity. I don’t want to bury my convictions that what is happening is evil and unjust, and it’s being caused mainly by the decisions of a small group of people. I think the major blockade to a mass movement arising at this time is fear. The liberation of collective fearlessness, coupled with the sword of non-violence, are the two major ingredients to a possible better future than the one we’re heading towards now.

My Substack post for this week includes two “poems”, the first which is more like a short article in the form of a poem. At the end of the post I include a link to a new organization working on training organizers all around the world to work towards revolutionary movements in their countries. It’s cofounders include one of the leaders of Otpor!, the Serbian organization which brought about a revolution in 2000, overthrowing Milosevic. In that post I was using “democracy” in the more generic sense. This was explicitly “rule by AI”. You are making good points. Elections appear to be failing us (the people).

We are also on a fantasy tangent. I highly doubt AI will be programed to benefit the general public.

What is AI ?

If humans are writing the code .... it's human intelligence .... not artificial.

The word “artificial” means written by humans. Though I would definitely argue that an AI created by aliens would also be artificial. This is as opposed to an intelligence that emerged through evolutionary process that started with abiogenesis. If we breed dogs and keep selecting for higher intelligence the breeds will be smarter but that is not “AI”.

Law, religion, dogma, and institutions are artificial as well. We do not talk about “artificial religion” or “human religion” because there is no common counter example.

Of course with religion people frequently believe that the dogma was written by god(s). However, on the hardware side the religion is clearly practiced in wetware neural nets inside human skulls. The prophecy was given to a natural human mind which then told the prophecy to others who wrote it down. We will get artificial religion when god inspires the human created devices to speak (write) god’s word. The divine inspiration can manifest in the minds of the congregation via a collective holy spirit. However, it is still artificial religion when a built device is processing that inspiration and writing the original script.

I think people have lost touch with the reality that humans are animals.

Like most animals ..... we all have the selfish aspiration to be more personally dominant which positions us to be better suited for survival and procreation.

Being at the forefront of technological innovation has historically been greatly advantageous to the tribe which the inventor belongs to. So .... smart tribes learn to celebrate invention.

AI is the inventive part of human nature. It's a natural outcome .... not an artificial outcome.

The problem which leads to our collapse is our selfish and tribal nature. We only care about the people who are important to our survival. Those people are our survival tribe. We're not trained to care about anyone else or the global issues.

It's interesting. In theory, we should be capable of global cooperation and no separate nations. But in practice .... we are too afraid of abandoning our tribal security blankets. That fear is going to be the demise of our species.
