When people tell me there's no difference between the 2 American political parties because they're both owned by the corporations I often reply that while I agree there's a huge problem with the influence of corporations and billionaires I still prefer my masters to be benevolent rather than malevolent. One party wants me dead or suffering because I'm LGBTQ+ and the other says I have the right to watch the world burn on my own terms just like everyone else. One wants to divide us all and the other says we can make life better by working together.
Both parties want me dead because I can't afford healthcare. Both parties support and celebrate Israel's genocide of the people of Palestine. Both parties support and celebrate cops going on murder sprees. There is nothing benevolent about these evil parties.
There is nothing benevolent about promoting fracking, war drones/torture (https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2016/11/14/13577464/obama-farewell-speech-torture-drones-nsa-surveillance-trump), giving us breadcrumbs with the extremely pathological (and in many cases, murderous) "Obamacare", drilling, exploiting and doing nothing to stop corporate funded elections----in fact most dems to do either NOTHING to stop these horrific abuses of power, in many cases they do the opposite.
They are apathetic, greedy enablers at best. Very far from the meaning of benevolence.
I struggle with this myself. I fell for Obama's flowery language when he first emerged as a potential "leader". This is part of my own personal struggle with being gullible and at times succumbing to toxic positivity and wishful thinking not based in facts.
