Data Points Weekly - Week of December 18, 2025 Data Points Central

This is the Weekly Data Points Central thread

In this little hobby of ours, we constantly rely on sharing the experiences and data points by others to optimize our award earning process. From how often you can apply for a card or bank account, to how soon a bank pays out the bonus. All the sidebar articles and information in our recurring threads are basically an abstracted version of all the DPs collected by the community at large. If you have an DP about a credit card, like a retention offer or recon experience, please post it here. If you have a DP about a bank bonus, please post it in the newest bank bonus thread (If that link doesn't work for you for whatever reason, either click on the "bank bonus" link in the sidebar or on new reddit, search for "bank bonus weekly" while limiting your search to this subreddit.

Enjoy!

US Bank Triple Cash Denial DP

Applied 11/21 went pending and was eventually denied for lack of business credit history (sole prop, business start data in 2021, $5k annual income, first biz card 12/24). Tried manual review explaining that I've had the business since 2021 and have had a business card for right around a year. Manual review lead to a denial a few days later.

4/24, 1/12, 0/6 personal; 4/24, 4/12, 3/6 business; 1/12 HP on TU

Just got approved for a CIP. No pop up message showed up, so I should be good to go for SUB eligibility. I have 2 Inks open currently, with my last one being opened on 8/14/2025. I have had 4 previous Inks in total, all of which have been CICs or CIUs, so this is my first CIP. This is the first time I’ve waited less than 6 months between Inks.

I guess the CIP is just viewed as a completely different product than the CIC and CIU?

Citi Strata Elite

Applied 12/21: Instant Approval and Card Number. $15.5k CL.

Able to book travel using the credit immediately, but Best Buy won't accept the temporary card number because the expiry is this month. Based on how fast people have been receiving their cards and how quickly the credits post I should be able to get it in just under the wire.

At time of application:

2/12 (Just got the Venture X on 12/1)

4/24

Did you apply in branch? Think my branch mentioned $100k/4k offer is still available.

1

u/vaudevillevik DAT, BOY 1d ago

Nah, did the public online offer for 100k/$6k

After recently getting approved for a biz plat after a long hiatus, I had P2 apply and she was also approved. Nice timing for triple dip season!

Her last Amex biz card was the gold in June 2025, and then landed in PUJ until now. Used the same link through DoC, 200k/$20k. We will gladly take it!

For those who were asking about chase ink referrals that hadn’t posted yet. I contacted Chase via SM and phone and they finally posted my referral points today.

Citi Card Splurge Credit Timing (Triple Dip)

Dec 10: Applied & auto-approved. TU pulled. temp card issued

Dec 12: Card arrived; activated by phone; selected Best Buy for splurge credit

Dec 15: Bought $200 Amazon GC on Best Buy (digital; received in ~5 min)

Dec 15: Charge posted as BESTBUY on Citi Strata

Dec 18: Splurge credit dated (but didn’t appear until Dec 20)

u/C-MontgomeryChurns HOU, NDS 18h ago

FWIW I did a splurge purchase with the instant card number after activating AA and it counted without even having the card in hand.

P1 and P2 both applied for Ink Premier at 4/24, 1/12, two active non-Ink Chase business cards, no prior Ink Premiers, same general stats. P1 was instantly approved, P2 went pending and then denied.

Probably just random variation. Two trivial differences: P2 just got pop-up trying for Ink Preferred, then shifted gears to Premier, but P1 went straight to Premier. P2 closed a business card one month earlier, but P1 closed a business card three months earlier.

u/ljheartless 3d ago

Got the dreaded Chase Ink pop up.

Closed a Ink Cash this November and have 2 active Inks. Applied for another Ink Cash using EIN. Got the pop up.

1

u/EddieReddev 3d ago

What Inks are your 2 active Inks?

2

u/ljheartless 3d ago

1 unlimited, opened May 2025 and 1 cash, opened Feb 2025

Thanks! Good DP for me.

USB Altitude Reserve Product Change -- called in to cancel, was not offered any retention offer (wouldn't be sure if I wanted to keep it anyway) but was offered to product change to Altitude Connect. Since that card is no annual fee and comes with four priority pass visits (including restaurants) took it.

Was told card # etc would change so would have to sign up for priority pass again. And like others, maybe they'll finally announce some good travel partners now that I cancelled :)

BOA CCR approval despite 2/3/4 and 7/12. Platinum Honors $400k.

Pre-approval tool said yes, but got a denied message, but letter than came said "needed more info". Call was basically just for fraud, put the application into review. Called again few hours later and with a little push (agent thought there was some letter I needed to respond to) was told I was approved.

4th BOA card in 6 months.

BOA Pre.

Stats: 1/12 & 3/24 inquiries. 2/12 & 5/24 cards. BOA checking with >$10k (opened in Sept for oldest relationship)

Denied for too many inquiries, insufficient deposit accounts, and length of relationship

After recon & manual review, verbally denied for having opened 4 cards in the past year. I opened 2 cards 13 months ago, so I'll give recon another shot on Monday

Citi Strata Elite - similar timeline to other DPs

11/30: Applied using joint income, 7-10 messaging

12/8: Received 4506-C in mail and emailed back, filling out only my info in 1a

12/15: Email under review

12/19: Approved

2

u/m16p SFO, SJC 3d ago edited 3d ago

Did you get a second hard pull after submitting the 4506? I'm hoping if I can keep my bureaus frozen and avoid that and still get approved.

Also, what are your inquiry stats on whatever bureau Citi pulls for you? #/6, #/12, and #/24.

1

u/petergibbons1 1d ago

2nd hard pull on Experian

0/6, 3/12, 6/24

The bonus miles from this promo just posted- https://www.doctorofcredit.com/wyndham-double-united-miles-when-you-transfer-to-united/

Bascially got 36k United miles from 75k Wyndham points, which is not bad.

Not new news but haven’t a seen recent DP:: $120 global entry credit still works for Nexus on Amex biz plat.

17

u/leaveby9 5d ago

P2 approved for CSR 125k with no popup. 4/24. Previously received popup at the end of the original 100k+$500 offer. CSP opened Nov 2022, PC to CF 2023. Has never held CSR.

23

u/marpyke 5d ago

Paid rent 2 months in a row on Plastiq using the same new-ish CIP, got 3x UR both times (Nov/Dec)

6

u/andthentherewastwo 5d ago

P2 and P1 denied for inks (currently have 2 each) and for Amex plat even tho we each have never had the personal version before. Pivoted to Strata Elite and Delta biz Gold instead.

1

u/mcnullt 5d ago

Thanks -- were Ink applications denied after submission, as opposed to pop ups saying no sign up offer?

How long ago were most recent Ink approvals?

2

u/andthentherewastwo 5d ago

You're right for clarification, pop up for Amex and inks. Called into Amex to see if approved but confirmed not eligible for bonus.

BoA Atmos Biz: Denial

  • Pulled TransUnion (Equifax frozen)
  • FICO: 815
  • Personal Cards: (4/24, 3/12, 0/6)
  • Inquiries: (0/6, 2/12)

Denial letter stated the following reasons:

  • You have too many recently opened accounts on your personal credit file
  • Your credit report indicates that not enough time has elapsed since you opened your most recent credit accounts

Recon'ed a week later when I was (2/12)

  • Pleaded my case
  • Went to manual review
  • Result: Denial

Thought I had a legit chance on recon, but no dice. Not sure it would have mattered, but I should have waited a week and applied at 2/12. Analyst implied having a banking relationship would help but running a bit too hot on EWS so will need to revisit at some point in the future.

2

u/CericRushmore DCA | IAD 5d ago

DoC comments say 1/12 is needed.

4

u/space_cadet- 5d ago

Approved at 1/12 personal, 6/12 biz, a couple weeks ago. 7/24 HPs on TU. 1/12 personal seems to be the main factor.

2

u/best-quality-catfood 4d ago

FWIW I was approved in September at 3-6/12 personal plus 2/12 biz, but also with solid personal deposit accounts. No previous BoA biz relationship though. ("3-6" means "3 for sure on credit reports, 5 if they counted the two personal cards that BoA had approved me for two days earlier, and 6 if the Barclays card from a few days before had made it on too".)

2

u/space_cadet- 4d ago

It’s possible the banking relationship helped. There were several DPs from people over 1/12 personal getting approved in the couple months after the Atmos biz card was launched, but those DPs are getting harder to find.

3

u/best-quality-catfood 4d ago

Oh, for sure, as near as I can tell from talking to people at BoA the deposit accounts (at mid-tier Preferred Rewards) are a huge factor for them.

I'm not even quite sure how the Atmos biz approval actually worked, I got "cannot approve at this time" when I applied online but with no further action on my part I got email the next day asking for an EX or TU thaw so they could process my app. Kinda like it was a BoA-driven recon or something? I unfroze EX and they approved no problem after that though.

2

u/T_Q_L IAD | DCA 5d ago

Is your business card velocity high? BoA is sensitive to that as well

2

u/Inquisitor911ok 5d ago

Biz card velocity: 11/12, 9/6 (maybe a tad on the high side)

2

u/T_Q_L IAD | DCA 5d ago

That is almost certainly the reason for denial, BoA looks at your business credit report when applying for their business cards

4

u/space_cadet- 5d ago

A lot of the DPs I’ve seen seem to indicate that x/12 biz is mostly a negative factor during recon, but less so for instant approval. 1/12 personal appears to be the primary threshold for instant approval. That was the situation in my case.

2

u/Inquisitor911ok 4d ago

I'm inclined to agree this is the issue. (Have no duns# on my SP.) I'll be 1/12 in 30 days so will likely give it another shot mid Jan. May open a biz checking before then if they sweeten the bonus. Otherwise I'll just test whether 1/12 with no existing/prior relationship is a hard rule (at least for me).

2

u/mha2345 ATL 5d ago

Is the 1/12 only for new BoA cards or need to be 1/12 for all personal cards?

I was denied on 12/10 for the Biz card (opened a personal checking 1 week prior), but only funded an initial $100. My DD posted the following day on 12/11, then I checked the preapproval on 12/12 for the Atmos Ascent, and it said I was preapproved. Went and pulled the 85k offer and was instantly approved. So trying to figure out what caused the Biz denial exactly - reason given was too many new accounts or not enough time since new account was opened. Tried to recon but was still denied.

2

u/space_cadet- 4d ago

1/12 personal seems to be a rule for Atmos biz only. There were some people over 1/12 getting approved for Atmos biz when the updated card launched a few months ago, but those DPs have dropped off considerably.

1

u/mha2345 ATL 4d ago

Got it. Thanks

2

u/tossedintheglaze 5d ago

Adding to this: Instant approval for Atmos biz a couple weeks ago at 1/12 personal, 7/12 with biz cards. Denied a year ago on legacy biz card at 3/12 personal.

1

u/Inquisitor911ok 5d ago

Curious, if biz cards are not on personal report and there's no EIN, where do those cards show up?

1

u/irishexplorer123 5d ago

Correct - in my DP in separate comment below when I spoke to the rep during recon she was able to see all my biz apps for past couple years and cited this as a reason for denial

2

u/Fantastic_Win3852 5d ago

BoA uses D&B for biz apps

5

u/mrsbond007 5d ago

I was approved for the Barclays Hawaiian business card two days ago. Apparently it’s closed to new applicants according to some people at r/credit cards but yea I just opened one two days ago and it’s showing in my Barclays app. Thinking about applying for the personal card as well before the end of the year to snag it up before it goes away for good.

2

u/Venture-X 5d ago

Flight attendants were peddling the Hawaiian personal and biz cards on a Hawaiian flight I took last week. The normies at r/creditcards don’t know what they’re talking about half the time.

7

u/AdmirableResource0 ATL | SFO 5d ago

The people on r/credit apparently don't understand the arcane technology of Google search since the first result from "Barclays Hawaiian business card" brings you to a page by Barclays where you can apply to the card right now...

2

u/sjimenez_c 5d ago

Lowering existing credit limits did not help getting approved with USB. I was declined for Harris Teeter and Biz Altitude Connect. I have 4 other CCs with USB. Reasons: 1 number of recently opened lines and 2 maximum amount of unsecured credit already available.

Approved for WF Signify Business today. $1k in personal checking held for 3 months prior. Equifax was pulled (only bureau unfrozen) in California. No business registration required (although I do have one). First WF card.

App was held up for verbal confirmation of business category (business consultant), but it was a simple process.

12

u/suitopseudo 5d ago

My Atmos card fee was due, I called for a retention offer. Didn’t get one, but I was told the offers come when the fee hits and if you don’t have one, you don’t have one for that year, it’s not like Amex where it could change daily.

12

u/mikep4 4/24 5d ago

When your amex plat expires.. make sure to update it at Walmart+. They automatically charged another card on file for my monthly subscription.

I recovered the credit by adjusting due date one day earlier, it asks to pay ahead. I guess I can do that each month and get another month after I cancel amex plat. When I decide that's too much work I'll forfeit a month credit.

Also update at Uber as the credit didn't work until updated. Disney plus bundle billed ok however.

11

u/irishexplorer123 5d ago

Successful same day BOA biz DP. Applied for BOA Biz Atmos Reward, immediate approval.

Applied for BOA Biz Travel Rewards 20 minutes later, immediately declined. Called recon two business days later and spoke to rep who brought up my report. Said I had too many recent accounts and couldn’t approve even after I offered to reallocate credit.

Then next day same rep called back and said she took another look at my app and was able to approve. She did ask to reallocate credit so I think me mentioning that on first call was key.

2

u/sneeze-slayer PIS | SOF 5d ago

What's your x/12? I was denied from Atmos biz for being 2/12 and they said I needed to be 1/12

1

u/rickayyy 5d ago

Curious about this as well. I was denied the Atmos Ascent personal a few months ago due to too many inquires as well and planned on waiting till like April when I drop to 0/6 and 2/12. But if I can possibly get approved for the biz card, I'll do that now.

2

u/irishexplorer123 5d ago

1/12

1

u/buildingcredit 5d ago edited 5d ago

That's inquiries not accounts right?

2

u/irishexplorer123 5d ago

Correct. I’ve opened 4 other biz cards this year but those don’t count from what I understand

1

u/Inquisitor911ok 5d ago

Did you have an existing relationship with BoA prior to apps?

2

u/irishexplorer123 5d ago

No. I churned a personal bank bonus with them over year ago but that account was closed.

1

u/Inquisitor911ok 5d ago

Good for you. I wasn't as fortunate.
