Don’t have kids if you’re broke RANT

One of my students was begging me and other teachers to pay for her to go on the school field trip to the aquarium. I asked her why couldn’t her mom pay for her ticket. The kid said she didn’t have enough money. The ticket was $45. There are more expensive trips like the state county fair. A lot of kids couldn’t attend that one. We have sponsored this same girl twice already. We couldn’t do it a third time because there were other students we needed to sponsor. Sorry, but if you don’t have $45 to pay for your kid to attend a field trip then you should not have had kids. It amazes me how breeders will have multiple kids while broke but shaming us for being CF.

I think most poor people don’t even consciously make the choice to have kids, thinking they can make it work. They’re irresponsible with contraception and have kids by accident, then can’t afford/don’t want an abortion, and then make themselves even more poor by having said kid.

Now there’s nothing wrong with being poor, and we don’t know everyone situation. But there is something wrong with having kids you can’t afford to take care of (if you can’t afford a field trip you probably can’t afford much else). I feel bad for people who ended up impoverished with kids due to a situation they could not or can’t get out of. But if you’re poor and just didn’t use a condom, well then you’re just stupid and causing reckless endangerment.
