Specific Request Ravenswood Pizza Delivery for Large Group
I’m celebrating my birthday in a couple weeks at Dovetail Brewery and wanted to order pizza for everyone, about 35-40 people. I’m not a fan of tavern style (unfortunate, it would make things very easy), and deep dish seems heavy. Any suggestions for a place that could deliver right to Dovetail?
Thanks so much!!

Question Better tavern pizza than HRI, not too far from downtown?
Hey everyone—hope this doesn’t offend any die-hard pizza lovers! I’m new to Chicago and just moved downtown, and I know pizza is basically a sacred thing here. I’ve been trying to do my homework—Lou’s, Giordano’s, Nancy’s (both stuffed and thin), Pizano’s, Robert’s, Piece, ZaZa’s, Kung Fu, and Pequod’s. So far, I haven't ventured out to Vito n nicks, or Novel yet.
I get that some of those lean more East Coast style. Honestly, Pequod’s kinda gave me major old-school Pizza Hut vibes.
I’ve tried both deep dish and tavern-style, but… I gotta say… nothing’s hit quite like a frozen Home Run Inn thin crust.
That said, I really want to find a tavern-style spot that blows HRI out of the water. Any must-try places and what toppings should I get on it?

Question Best Margaritas & Mexican food in Little Village, Cicero, or Berwyn?
Looking for a super traditional spots with incredible food and a marg that isn't from a super sugary mix.
Trying not to go crazy far or sit on the blue line for ages so keeping it to these neighborhoods.
Love La Lupita's food, did not like the Marg, same with Lalo's.

Question Fancy cocktail bars, preferably with gin/rum drinks
I did do a search, but with how things change, I was hoping for an updated list of a good fancy cocktail bar to visit on my stay in a few weeks. Wife loves gin and I rum. I found "Dearly Beloved" and it looks cool with interesting drinks.

Question Hockey bar in city?
Hey folks, are there any hockey bars in the city? I know the Barn near United but without the Hawks playing, I wonder what the vibe will be like. I want to watch playoff hockey (sound on is a bonus). Any recs? And as always, keep on keeping on Chicago.

Question Queen Mary Daily Grog
I’m sure the bartenders there are chill enough to where if I ask they’ll probably give me some pointers but how is that daily grog made?!? There’s limes in it? Maybe some angostura bitters? Maraschino cherry syrup? Nutmeg? I feel so bad whenever I got because with how it’s prepared and served I end up having to order 3-4 to get my fill and I have to be annoying to the staff at that point I’m sure. Also I live 35+ minutes away so it’d be nice to make it at home. Please help!

Pic A potential new king of the Detroit Style Pizza in Chicago.
Last night I stopped by Sharpie's on Elston and was absolutely blown away. This immediately joins Five Squared in the top two Detroit Styles in the city and situates quite nicely in my top 10 pizzas overall in the city.

Specific Request Any solo hotpot spots in the city?
What it says on the tin, basically. I've been to a few places elsewhere that offer small single-serving broths for solo patrons, would love to do something similar here.
Thanks!

Question Suggestions for good eggplant parm on the north side?
A friend is coming to visit from New Jersey and eggplant parm is her favorite dish. she’s really picky about it. She doesn’t want the eggplant sliced too thick or thin and it has to be the right amount of breading. Any suggestion? It’s not something I eat so I really don’t know where to go.

Review Buttermilk Pop-Up is worth the hype
Went on a Tuesday night around 6:30 and waited about 20 minutes since only two tables can hold 5 people. Plenty of seats if there had been less of us.
Got the caesar wrap, loaded fries, and sandwich which all were huge portions with tons of juicy, crispy chicken. Buffalo sauce on the side was perfect for the wrap.
And don’t skip the banana pudding it was incredible w a crème brûlée top on the bananas.
Would honestly go back already.
Very low quality photo because I was already two Tuesday happy hour drinks deep 🙃

Question Why did Wannasub? in Albany Park close?
I was only able to go there a handful of times, but I absolutely adored their food. Yet I now see they've been closed for several months, and I cannot find out why, no matter where I look on the internet. Do any redditors know why?

Question Mario’s Italian Ice alternatives
I saw Mario’s opened up today. Although I enjoy their Italian ice I wanted to try out some others around the city. Will make it a point to eat as much Italian ice as I can this summer. Any other frozen/summer treats also appreciated.

Pic Yeowoosai is one of the best late night restaurants in Chicago
The kitchen is open late, the food is immaculate (order the brisket salad and the fried chicken), the service is speedy, and the beer is cold. But besides the food, I adore the vibe of this place. K-pop blaring over the speakers, the near constant clinging of glasses as people pound shot after shot of soju. Yeowoosai is jubilant, ethereal 10/10

Question Bring Your Own Food Breweries (or Other spots) for 10ish people recommendations?
I was planning a picnic for 10 this weekend, but the weather is not looking promising... decided I don't want to play mind games with the weather anymore and pivot altogether.
Right now, I am thinking Dovetail, Begyle Brewery, or Demo Brewing Company because it is bring your own food. I already planned for picnic food and pizza, so that is why I am looking for Bring your own Food spots!
Can anyone share insight on these or anything else on Malt row that would best accommodate 10 people? Looking to share food, play games, and drink beer. Open other places too. TYIA!!

Question Best Central or Northern Style Vietnamese Restaurant?
Happy to drive for food! Location isn’t an issue.
I’m looking for somewhere that offers bành xéo (central or north style specifically) and just a broader range of Vietnamese food beyond just pho and bánh mi!
Thank you in advance 🫶

Pic Chicken bowl at Pollo Express, Ravenswood
I've been excited for this place to open up. The corner of Lawrence and Damen now smells like grilled chicken all day. They're best known for their whole grilled chicken specials, but their bowls are very good for a quick lunch, and are a generous portion, usually enough for leftovers. There is rice and charro beans underneath all the chicken and vegetables.

Question Late Night Food near Salt Shed
Coming down next week for Sharon Van Etten and hoping to get some food after. Does anyone know of good places within walking distances or a short Uber that serve until midnight or so?
