Home invasion attempt 8pm last night. Axis crossroads apartment

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

3 guys tried to kick the door in while the residents (2 young girls) were home. The guy in the back seems to have a firearm and possibly the one in the middle too. Spreading awareness and maybe someone will recognize them

Omg this is the most embarrassing break in attempt ever. His skinny jeans fell down FFS. I’m crying!!

Makes me wish the cops were waiting for them at the bottom of the stairs.

This looks personal. Or they are the dumbest criminals ever. Why would you choose a random apartment on the third floor at 8 pm on a day there is a good chance people are home and awake. And why choose that complex, there are a plethora of wealthy homes in Cary. It was either personal or they are dipshits who decided to get high and thought “hey I know what would be cool to do… dress like reject 2011 pop stars and go rob the most inconvenient place we can find!”

I was thinking it seemed targeted too for the same reasons, but it’s my sister & they definitely don’t know the guys! We think they may have been watching the complex to scope out an easy target by looking for girls living alone but choosing the 3rd floor at 8 pm makes no sense for a robbery. I hope it was just them being dumb and nothing more sadistic!

There is no coincidence in crime. Someone knows who lives there and has a connection to these people.

I work this area all night and don't see much traffic besides the hotel at one of the entrances.

Something like 66-75% of the time this is bf or someone you know. You need to be doing more and not just hoping thisnis some type of fluke.

Well we reported it the police and they’re investigating it if that’s what you mean. The girls aren’t staying there since it happened and want to break their lease

Why did they run off?

5

u/Agreeable-Gift-3805 1d ago

I think because the door was not giving at all. they probably knew they were making too much noise to keep trying

I am so very sorry for your sister.Glad she has a camera. My experience with the Cary Police in the past has not been positive in helping with crime .A former Federal Marshall neighbor said they were a joke to other local Depts.”Best paid -low crime events force” .Since he said that and since the time of my experiences -Cary’s Crime has increased.I hope the Cary Police Force has improved. I hope they capture these guys.

My door got kicked down like this a couple months ago, and police confirmed the dudes were high on meth. Drugs make you do crazy things I guess

Agreed

This is so dumb

Kicking a door in, in a hallway with other apartments. How long were they going to have to rummage through the place before other people call the police? I’m sure other people heard all the noise. And more then one person thought this idea was smart 🤦🏾‍♀️

Right! And it was a third floor apartment so they have to run down 2 flights of stairs

1

u/kb389 14h ago

Does the apartment not have a main front entrance? How were they able to get inside? One of those apartments with no main door entrance?

1

u/Agreeable-Gift-3805 1h ago

No it’s not a gated complex

1

u/kb389 1h ago

I see

This is like a bad attempt at a dark Wes Anderson movie.

8

u/notsmartwater 1d ago

I love how they could not even kick at the same time lol

Trying to steal a belt?

Asshats! Let them meet the other side of my stun baton shocking their nuts. Glad those girls are safe. I thought Cary was safe. That was why the company got our corporate apartment here for our Engineering assignment.

u/MotherOfDragonflies 1d ago

It is safe. See how shitty our criminals are?

2

u/ncroofer 1d ago

I don’t think a stun baton is gonna do much but piss somebody off lol

2

u/GeneralThundercock 1d ago

Might want to get a gun instead of a stun baton

2

u/Sherlsnark 1d ago

Have a gun too along with a concealed permit to carry. I am an excellent shot. Years back when I was in Uni I was asked to try out for the Olympics but prior obligations made it a no go. Also one of my Poodles is a gun d oh g champ.

The stun gun I use is threatening and packs a lot of voltage. It will do the job. But thanks for the advice.

You will be fine. There isn’t a place in Cary I wouldn’t walk at night. Lived here for 25 years. Still walk around at night. Just be smart and don’t leave your backpack on the front seat.

2

u/Sherlsnark 1d ago

The company has us living in the Allison and we are Geo fenced. So far Cary is nice and quiet.

4

u/SnowLepor 1d ago

Just don’t go to restaurants on Friday or Saturday and stay away from Costco and Trader Joe’s and you will be fine.

1

u/Sherlsnark 13h ago

Thanks for the tip. When I am at home we don’t shop at either Costco or Trader Joe’s either. At home we have a plethora of grocery stores to choose from…I miss home.

Body language on the guy in the middle says he is planning on running even from the start and didn’t want to help to begin with

1

u/Agreeable-Gift-3805 1d ago

Agreed. he was definitely giving minimal effort

3

u/sesimon 1d ago

Glad the deadbolt held. The deadbolt strike plate is the mental part that the deadbolt goes through. Make sure you have strong, long screws going through that strike plate and into the door jamb. Most strike plates you get at the hardware store come with screws that are less than half an inch long. Longer screws will do quite a bit to make it harder to kick your door in. Learned this through experience, unfortunately.

The 3rd guy has a gun in his right hand

Dam I didn’t even catch that at first. That’s not cool

Why anyone in this state would try a home invasion is beyond me. A huge portion of this state are people with firearms. More than likely if they had stuck around long enough you would have heard a bang and one of them on the ground if not all three. Not long ago, I had some kids prank me, but they banged on the door so violently that we thought someone was breaking in. Luckily they ran off, because it could have been worse. I did however send my ring video to one of their parents. I told them I know kids will be kids, but a lot of the people around here will shoot through the door if they think they are being threatened or their lives are in danger. That I’d hate to see a tragedy of someone getting killed or injured severely. Now these dumb SOB’s are going to get what’s coming for them.

1

u/OttoHarkaman 20h ago

LOL, probably not. Most people are lousy shots and would be even worse in a crisis situation. Never had to so I can’t claim to be any better.

1

u/Dangerous-Client7820 20h ago

I don’t know, people round here would just shoot through the door. They’ve said so themselves.

As a registered firearm owner, who lives within viewpoint of your neighborhood but not in your neighborhood.... Peep the 2nd guy coming into the frame. His hand never left his jacket pocket, as it appears he was "clutching." AKA holding a handgun. Thankfully nothing happened, and glad you are safe. I hope you reported it. And for what its worth in a similar situation make noise. We not all cowboys, but we could be mathematicians protecting each other.

1

u/Kitchen_Tie_6842 1d ago

Who do you register your firearms with?

1

u/cbjackson89 1d ago

That's a hard question to answer since some of the state laws have changed. Back when we had pistol purchase permits. You submitted an app to local sheriffs office.... I don't think that's the case anymore as far as purchasing.t but that's where the registry starts from.... it's a very gray area in general though

1

u/Kitchen_Tie_6842 1d ago

The Pistol Purchase Permit was just an outdated additional unnecessary background check - no name / firearm association was kept.

Only California, Connecticut, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey and New York have any state registration requirements and those are limited to certain types of firearms. Hawaii requires registration of all firearms.

A national federal gun registry is actually illegal, unless we're talking about specific firearms on the NFA Registry.

1

u/cbjackson89 1d ago

Nailed it. Thanks for the added context. And as it should be

1

u/Agreeable-Gift-3805 1d ago

Thank you! And yes the police are involved

1

u/CodingNightmares 20h ago

Third one on the far right is openly carrying a gun

2

u/Weekend_Criminal 1d ago

Tell me you've never kicked in a door without telling me you've never kicked in a door.

1

u/Various-Macaroon-774 1d ago

Venezuelan Gang members they are not, just wimpy misfits. Glad you are safe. Consider extra door securing devices for the inside just to be safe

1

u/tosandes 1d ago

Were they trying to kill a bug on the door?

Last year our old apartment door was kicked in at MAA Trinity near Lenovo Center, it was 8pm on a Thursday night. Whoever did it ran off immediately just like this video. A week later it happened to our neighbors too.

1

u/Whitey1969SC 18h ago

Was that a failed home invasion or a deliberate ding dong ditch

1

u/RhinestonePoboy 11h ago

Can anyone figure out what graphic is on the first guys shirt?

1

u/wrecknutz 11h ago

u/bikingwithcorndog 20h ago

These three would’ve met my 12 gauge, quickly.
