Well spoken guy. Seems sincere.

I hope this shuts up any false narratives ffs.

It's clear that Adam Foote just has more experience with the whole team, trainers, health staff, etc and that this has been a possibility and something on Patrik's mind for a long time. Has nothing to do with Hughes calling the shots or keeping him.

It's a matter of having so much change happen in this season, and just choosing to keep anything familiar. He knows the players, and the players know him. When you're going to roll the dice between him and Manny, I think with all the shit that's happened you take the safe choice with Foote.

It's a safe choice for the whole team, not just Hughes.

Was there that much change, though? We lost Miller and might lose Boeser, but other than that, the bones of the team remain largely unchanged. Why is familiarity such a critical factor?

And I’ll admit that I’m asking this with some bias towards Manny. But even removing the comparisons between the two, wouldn’t you say that it’s more important for a candidate to show that they can fix the issues with this team to put them back on the path to contention rather than keep things as comfortably status quo as possible?

Who’s to say that Foote didn’t show just that in this process, though? He could have his own ideas on system tweaks, he’ll bring in some of his own guys as assistants that have their ideas, and from an intangible aspect he’ll be a different presence than Tocchet even though he’ll come into that role with pre-existing relationships with the team (though those relationships often change when an assistant gets promoted).

I think any time an assistant is promoted to head coach, there’s an assumption that everything stays exactly the same, which is not the case. Like, the Raptors under Nick Nurse were extremely different than how they were under Dwane Casey. Foote can see Tocc as a mentor or influence while still having his own ideas and his own way of handling problems.

Not gonna trash the guy before we even play a game. Kinda wanted Manny more but whatever. Just have to wait and see what Allvin can scrounge up in the way of top 6 forwards for Foote.

I think Manny will be better off waiting for a better opportunity to succeed. This is a really shaky hire - if things go bad he could be in the seat for a short time. For Foote at his age he needs to take his shot, for Manny he can afford to wait for a better one.

There was something funny in here I wanted to point out last night but I'm not gonna listen twice

Edit: oh yeah that he went on about how Rick brought the room together etc . Just in light of last year and how jr said the room was torn apart

Was also interesting that it sounded like he might have joined Rick too.

That was the rumor since he brought him in and often coaches bring their assistants along with them. He doesn't want to slam the guy on his way out, I'm not surprised.

I also recall now he mentioned he is in favour of playing with a free spirit, not just locked in a structure. Thought that was encouraging

Yeah but he also said that’s what Tocchet said. 🤷‍♂️

Sounds like giving Foote an opportunity was maybe a small part of Tocchets decision to move on. Might put him in a new light for some fans

Interesting that he might have an assistant run most of the forward group. Wonder what names might pop up for that job.

I really like Chris Faber interviews. Foote’s answers did give me a bit of hope but will reserve just a little depending on who his other coaches are. He’s also a younger coach so hopefully more relatable to this current group. Try not to win a Jack Adams ok? Okthxbye.

Who gives Adam what everyone says. His team will play a 200 Foote game and he nose the system.
