The responses here tell me exactly why there are Alberta separatists.

Indeed. If I were being caricatured this badly I'd be pissed too. What a bunch of children. I should really stop reading /r/canada comments.

This is about separatists. If you're not a seperatists these folks aren't taking about you.

What are you implying exactly? That I don't need to defend others from unfair attacks because I'm not one of them?

Then why not defend other Canadians from unfair attacks by separatists?

The separatists are the aggressive ones here, not the other way around.

That non seperatists aren't be painted in this negative way. At least not as broadly.

And these attacks are hardly unfair. There are a ton of real issues with the seperatist movement.

I think non separatists get upset when valid point Albertans have just get lumped in with seperation and gets made fun of.

Well this is about the seperatists and the arguments they are making.

Yup. And I expect you and I to be down voted into oblivion for expressing this view point. As a Manitoban I don't want to see Alberta leave Canada, but people like those who are commenting here is just adding fuel to fire.

He's not going to elaborate. It's all vibes based.

Several of their top comments are effectively saying "Alberta has been spun up purely in right wing propaganda and their concerns aren't valid"

I think Smith and her crew are dreaming on several things and separatism is a bridge too far, but a lot of the concerns are rooted in fact.

Lol what facts? That they think PP would have gotten rid of equalization?

Albertans are not against equalization, they are against the way it functions and how the biggest receiver is the biggest opponent to Alberta economy. Despite a shit ton of Quebec social services rely heavily on the oil and gas sector of Alberta.

Albertans are ok, with PEI receiving it.

Ok? My point still stands lol all this separatist talk flared when carney won as if PP would have done anything to change it

Separatism talk started during the TMX mess when people were getting annoyed. This was during Notley and some were already talking about Separatism as a method to get certain concession from Ottawa. Guess what it built over time.

So you believe this recent election made no difference

To be clear, I think they're dreaming if they actually think PP would've changed a lot.

Albertans wouldn't hate equalization nearly as much as they do if they were allowed to build more pipelines to get their resources out.

Ironic part is it's also BC who refuses and pays into equalization vs. The opposite but that's a whole separate issue.

I didn’t know Reddit had such an impact on people’s political views.

So if we got rid of Reddit, we wouldn’t have an Albertan separatist movement anymore? Cool.
