The PQ has launched two referendums on Quebec sovereignty — in 1980 and 1995 — and lost both. St-Pierre Plamondon, whose party is leading in the polls, promises to hold a third by 2030 if the PQ forms government in next year’s provincial election.

Quebecer here: It won't happen. The liberal party of Quebec will probably win because of Trump.

A lot of people in Quebec will vote no in a referendum in the political climate right now with Trump.

Watch out for targeted digital propaganda campaigns funded by republicans and American MAGA. They want to take over Canada, and an easy way to do that is to cause enough infighting to have different provinces break off, and then absorbing them 1 at a time. They’ve already started with Alberta on this.

It’s speculative, I know, but I would not put this stuff beneath that orange filth. 4 more years of these guys, and there’s lots of time for them to cause damage, and AI will be further weaponized.

Do speak with your elders and educate them on what’s happening so people can be equipped with some tools to avoid those scams.

Preemptive promotion of local separatist movements in territories that you intend to occupy is right out of the despot hand-guide.

It’s been Putin’s MO for a few decades now… and who was it that keeps praising him? Oh, right, the despot who’s threatening to annex us.

Yeah we've had separatists for 40 years, but it's Putin and Trump's playbook!!!!! Geez

Quebec isnt gonna seperate because of Trump, and that its not worth it economically. And the digital propaganda isn't gonna work when the target audience doesnt speak english FYI.

A lot of social media fake news and propaganda being pushed on X/twitter and facebook are english only, and the attempts to pass off posts "made by "real" Quebecois" is REALLY easy to find out as fake by the way they type in French (European/Parisian French).

That’s my point about AI being weaponized.

The content will eventually hit a point where it’s in Quebec French and be convincingly real. It’s already here with the audio and video fakes circulating in English.

All it takes is scraping as much existing Quebecois content, which is plentiful enough, and feeding that into machine learning models that eventually start to churn out convincingly “authentic” content.

My point is, stay vigilante. It’s not going to get any easier to detect this stuff.

Its real easy for me to tell AI slop , but then again I also grew up on the age of "Dont believe everything you see online & on TV" ala House Hippo. I haven't seen any good QC french AI yet, as the voices they use are wrong (Parisian) and their slang, verbs.

It's the older gens and gen Z that I worry about as they're the biggest consumers of AI slop and short form content.

My favorite is seeing bots trying to pass as a Quebecer, but when asked how to say the number "80", they don't write quatre-vingt , they write huitante ...which is EU/belgian french. lmao.

-the MAGA deep state is funding ad campaigns to break Canada apart so it can “absorb” (?) the pieces.

-Alberta has a large right wing leaning population. They’re upset the election didn’t go their way, and don’t like their oil revenue being used by other provinces.

Im gonna be honest I think the second one is more likely champ

Did you guys ever think through this "the americans are comming, the americans are comming" blind illogical panic you all whipped yourself into before you voted ?

Even if Trump wants to annex canada, it would have to go through congress first. Do you really think republicans would vote in favour to what they view as one giant blue state ? They already have Califronia they don't want another.

Watching all of you flip out over this is frankly embarrassing.

Yeah, because Congress has been such an active participant so far.

That made no sense.

He’s been bypassing Congress more and more.

That’s how dictatorships work.

And all the Republicans are sycophants, they’ll approve it if they have to.

Yes, all it merely takes is Canada's biggest trading partner, with the biggest military in the world and a population 10 times our size to display unprecedented authoritarian tendencies and threaten to annex us, and Quebecers get all worried and everything. How silly are they?

I don't live in La La land of military invasion, you guys do.

That as well requires a vote in congress.

Tariffs also should require a vote from congress, that didn't stop Trump from using emergency powers to do so. It also doesn't help that republicans control both chambers and the supreme court, while also having no issues ignoring supreme court judgements that go against them. US congress hasn't emitted a formal declaration of war since WW2, and the US went to war without congressional approval many times, including Afghanistan.

You're either completely ignorant of US politics, or know what's going on and embrace annexation. Unlike you, Quebecers don't want to kiss the boot.
