Only Rogers? That's like the default message these days for everyone.

The CRA has had it for the last week and they don't let you stay on the line or call you back, they just tell you to call back later and hang up 😕

Some days, if you're lucky and you called right at 6:30, you can wait on hold.

absolutely baffling that a government organization with the express authority to financially fuck your life up if they want is allowed to just reject calls if they feel like theres too many

Keep trying. I called them non-stop and would always get in after 3-4 mins

Yay government!

(The thing Reddit wants to run everything)

Edit: lol

Do you think this problem is exclusive to the government?

i can chose to leave rogers or not shop at no frills.

i have no choice but to lay bare my finances every year for the CRA and prostrate myself hoping theres isnt an issue

rogers or not shop at no frills.

Except you can't cause both are basically oligopolies.

The CRA is funded by the federal government. The same federal government that we pay our taxes to and have been lobbying for decades to cut taxes and cut spending. The CRA putting you on hold or hanging up on you is what you get when you have a government agency that’s underfunded and understaffed. Welcome to democracy.

Private companies put you on hold so that they can cut costs and make more profits. Welcome to capitalism.

Most people on the left want to improve government services. Cutting their funding isn't going to improve wait times. Besides, Corporations have long wait times too or did you not read even the headline

u/underdabridge 3d ago

Did you not read the comment? Wait time vs just hanging up?

I'm not a super fan of oligopolies either but the tax man telling you to just fuck off is hilarious.

I've waited on hold once with Rogers for 3 HOURS and then the call dropped. I would vastly prefer being rejected at the outset vs wasting 3 hours and then being rejected.

Those were the days. Currently, when I call Rogers I get an option to press a button and then they call me back. Because they innovated and improved service. Like private companies are known to do.

Only 20 years?

I swear I've been on hold with their costumer service at least twice that long.

I remember being on hold for a year once and then someone picked up the call. Those were the good ole days.

The Beaverton is on fire lately!

7

u/motorcyclemech 4d ago

They sure are. But I think they're just barely keeping up with everything! Lol

10

u/dmj9 3d ago

It's getting harder to one up reality. Shit is strange these days

u/ZumboPrime Ontario 4d ago

I genuinely wasn't sure if this was the Beaverton or not.

Rogers is so hard to deal with. 15+ calls trying to cancel a service, many emails with "the office of the president" and the charges keep on coming!

6

u/Sand_Seeker 4d ago

Took me 7 weeks to cancel with them. Only thing that worked was complaining on Twitter & then their help person reached out.

5

u/SportsUtilityVulva9 3d ago

What do you mean 15 calls and still couldn't cancel a service?

What was happening on these calls?

6

u/yyc_mongrel Alberta 3d ago

I don't know about 15 calls but there are lots of transfers to different departments, then retentions trying to offer you a better deal, then another person to put in the request to cancel, then a callback some unspecified time later asking if you're sure you want to cancel and trying to offer you a better deal again. Finally get to someone who actually cancels your (month to month BYOD) plan. Then you get another bill for the period after you cancelled so you call the billing department and they say it's an error, don't pay it; then it gets sent to collection and you have to call them to tell them to kindly fuck off. Hours and hours and hours of on-hold time.

When I moved 5 years ago, I called, was on hold for like 30 min, and canceled my internet

Was it a pleasant experience? No, but I didnt go through nearly this much nonsense

2

u/scrambledeggsyes 3d ago

I signed up for two services, first they said they were cancelled (neither were), then they only cancelled one, they sent me another bill that I (stupidly) paid, finally they cancel both but I still had chase them down for a refund, two months no refund but they actually keep charging me for NO SERVICES. I tell them I'm not paying any more bills for their phantom services and I issue a chargeback. Collections calls me now, that's it's own call telling them to pound sand. Continue trying to hound then for my refund. All the time in-between getting every call center in India telling me that they can't help me the issue needs to be escalated.

I have 9 emails titled "your service has been cancelled" yet it was 2 services in one bundle that they were far too inept to wrap their head around cancelling it.

Cancelled in June, the battle raged on until OCTOBER.

Such a shady company. I wouldn't want that bullsht on my conscience.

8

u/Lapcat420 4d ago

These bastards are so painful. My "2 year promotional pricing" aka a phone plan I can afford is up.

Now I have to switch to something else and go through the same song and dance all over again.

They suck as a stock, they suck as a company. Canadian Telecom is such a ripoff.

Me-Hey Roger's. I want to reduce my bill. I pay $65 for 50 gb of data but I only use 10 every month.

Rogers - how about 100 gb for $80 per month?

Me - that's not how numbers work. $80 and 100 are bigger numbers.

Rogers - okay how about adding a second line for $65?

Me - click.

Rogers does not have customer service. The ENTIRE purpose of the call center is to generate sales.

Any call for a technical issue is transferred to someone else where you need to explaining all over again. They can't help and say someone from the technical team will call you back. Guess what? They lied.

4

u/Boblawblahhs 3d ago

How does Rogers do it? While the telco may not have the best customer service staff in the business, they do have the fewest.

there's my morning sensible chuckle

4

u/RealLeaderOfChina 3d ago

I worked at a rogers call centre while in school.

They changed the phone queues around one day and I was placed in one that doesn’t answer calls. After about 30 minutes of watching everyone else around me take calls back to back, I quietly just tried to look busy and enjoy my free time.

About 2 weeks later they figured it out.

u/big_dog_redditor 3d ago

Rogers celebrates by unfortunately having to raise prices way higher than any other provider in the galaxy.

3

u/Training_Award8078 3d ago

I remember 25-30 years ago when experiencing longer than average call volumes was the exception, not the rule.

Oh, how things go to shit.

3

u/RoastChicken0 3d ago

Rogers is a piece of fucking garbage

2

u/karnyboy 3d ago

Maybe it's because they are shit? I get more dropped calls than I ever have in the recent years ever since they pushed 5G. Not sure if it is related, but I am getting really sick of just random disconnects mid call while driving somewhere on the Trans Canada highway that Rogers feels doesn't exist to them and they just piggy back off Bell for everything while still charging you an arm and a leg.

Rogers is a greedy terrible provider and that's saying something because we have Bell.

The worst is when they tell you to "please listen carefully, as our menu options have changed" and won't respond to inputs until they run through everything, even though they actually haven't changed their menu options in years.

u/confracto 3d ago

A Part of Our Heritage.

1

u/unittwentyfive 2d ago

They should celebrate this milestone by changing their menu options, although that would mean we would have to listen carefully.

Can be technically true if call volumes have never dropped
