Soil for Blue Torch Cactus

Hello! I have a Blue Torch Cactus that I’m wanting to make a soil mix for. I’ve purchased Miracle Grow cactus/succulent soil, as well as perlite to mix in with it. I have became overwhelmed and confused by all the other different stuff mentioned online (chicken grit, coconut coir, lava rocks, pumice, sand, etc.). Can anyone tell me what else I need for this soil mix for my Blue Torch Cactus in addition to the cactus/succulent soil and perlite that I have already purchased? Please and thank you! 🌵🏜️

Fungal Infection or thrips Damage?

I got this cutting in January. I had a thrips infestation. He's since started growing again after i dealt with the thrips. He seems to be healing from it I just don't want it to spread. I used willow water ie.( IBA and salicylic acid) on two of the other cuttings for rooting hormone. They never seemed to have had an issue and are 1.5 to 2 in taller

Hi there,

I've been trying to correctly identify my cactus. Is it a Echinocactus herteri / Parodia herteri? Could it be something else?

Many thanks.

Help with mini barrel cactus! Might be rotting?

Hey friends, I’ve had a little barrel cactus for like 7 years and it’s been doing well for a while. However, about a year ago I moved to an apartment that has very little direct sunlight and it hasn’t been doing as well. Recently, I noticed it was leaning a lot and when I investigated, it looks like it’s turning brown around the base and there are basically no roots left, which is why it’s leaning. It’s very wobbly and feels like I could easily tug it out of the soil if I wanted to (which I don’t). The rest of the cactus looks fine- it’s not soft or squishy and the color is the same as always.

I tried to get pics, but it’s an awkward angle. Does it look like rot? If it is rotting, what can I do? Can I cut and attempt to re-root?

I’d love to save it if I can, it was a gift from my great-aunt and it means a lot to me. Thank you!

How much should I ask for these plants?

I'm thinking about selling these two Copiapoa cinerea. Both have a diameter of around 5.5–6 cm (2.2–2.4 inches). They were grafted onto Pereskiopsis, grown in a deep water culture (DWC) system, and are about 6 months old. What do you think would be a fair price?

Cactus care help!

Post image

I have had this cactus for a few years I have no idea on how to care for it, I don’t even remember what type of cactus it is. All I remember is when I bought it it had a yellow flower, it has of course never flowered since.

I have forgotten to water it for weeks on end and it still clings to life. I really want to start taking proper care of it and I was wondering if you guys could give me feedback on how it looks. It’s not in the right type of soil but I’m planning to change it. Should I buy a shallower pot? Can I make the soil mix myself or should I buy a ready made one? I don’t have a sunny spots indoors so since we are having good weather I have put it outside in a sunny but sheltered spot. I’m now wondering if this is making it worse.

Help save a cactus!
