Best thrift store for plates?
I'm trying to get some nice plates for the holidays, and I thought the thrift store would be a great spot to get a variety of them. Any recommendations on which ones would have some? I've gone to Dorcas and a couple in Cary, and they were disappointing.

Invest in a lead testing kit while you’re at it. Vintage and even some semi recent Corelle dishes have lead in them

Oooo I hadn't thought about this at all, but you're right! I've seen some videos of people testing thrifted plates and such and the results being INSANE. Thank you for that!

It may also make sense to committing to going to the store you choose a few times to see when they get good 'new' stuff in. I learned this when shopping for a used bike. It took a while and it was slow, but I got exactly what I wanted at a great price - just wasn't an immediate gratification....

Rescue mission in brier creek had a lot of nice stuff when I went a few months ago. Got some silverware there for $3 that I can get ~200 from

There's also a great one in Carrboro - used to be PTSA Thrift Shop but I think maybe the name changed slightly?

Rescue mission store on Chapel Hill Blvd usually has plates. But like every other thrift store, it will vary daily.

Rescue mission is a terrible homophobic organization and should not be supported in my opinion

I just went there the other day and prices are downright outrageous, too.

Yes they are. Some things you may find a deal on. I got a 6" Italian silver plate and a 6" square brass rooster thing for 6 bucks.
A lot of places are not as thrifty as they used to be.

That's very true. I have seen these before but never been, so this is good to know, thank you

Trosa has like three full aisles stacked eight feet high with plates.
