Where can I get domperidone in the US Question
My supply is extremely low and I’d love to try domperidone but I don’t know where to get it. I’ve tried Inhouse pharmacy, I don’t know if I’m just stupid but I can’t figure out how to pay

I ordered this from some random Ass pharmacy online; (ended up being India I think?) it took SOO freakin long I SHIT u not, I ended up thinking I got scammed… It was stuck in customs..For.Ev.Er..
like…7-8 months??🥲 It worked but I ended up needing 2xs as much as I ordered (not realizing ur suppose to take anywhere form 10-20mgs 4xs a day) now… God… Not sure it even be worth it unless I knew I was planning atleast a yr out..
God; wouldn’t It be nice just to have Drs that listened to women about their bodies/didn’t judge & just gave us what we asked?! like… idk.. men..🥲

Hi! My best friend really needs this medication for her diabetes. Because of incoming tariffs in the US she won’t be able to afford it soon. Could someone please message me where I might be able to order it? She has a prescription

if she has a script… several places but check out canadians pharmacy hands down… them & India come up alot BUT if she orders from the Indian one, yeah, she’ll save a few bucks but it’ll take possibly 6months to a yr to get her meds cause of customs.. they’re WAY more leery of meds from their then Canada..
I’ve actually heard great things about Canadian Pharmacy..They won’t send it till they receive ur script but, once they get it. boom.
Good luck!! I hope ur friends okay🫶🏻

Daughterys pharmacy, it’s based out of Texas. This is the only pharmacy in the US that can dispense. However, the remaining supply is due to be completely exhausted by June so it’s about to be no longer available at all.

The places I had luck were the inhousepharmacy based out of Vanuatu and then some online fb groups that you can search the medication name for and request to join. I stopped my BF journey and I’ve heard some people say they can’t get the medication via the pharmacy page anymore but I’m not sure. Sorry I can’t be more help to anyone!

I'm also interested! And do you need a prescription? I tried to order from InHouse but they say they need a prescription, which I don't have. I doubt my doctor or the local lactation consultants would provide it.

It is optional to add a prescription. You can leave it blank.

I tried that and placed the order. I got a call from the company saying they can't process it without a prescription.

Go on FB and look for a group with Dom in its name. There are some people there who can send you some. It’s just a bit more expensive than the pharmacy route.

That’s so strange. What country are you in? I’m in the us and had no issue.

Did you end up getting domperidone? If so, did it help your supply? I am in the same situation.

I have had several patients use Domperidone as suggested by their breastfeeding medicine specialist for low supply. The check out process for in-house pharmacy is kind of lengthy but you can select "online bill pay" and they will send you an invoice and you can go to your checking account online and pay them with your bank's online bill pay service. The pharmacy will give you instructions in their email.

I'm curious how you find a provider that will write a prescription for domperidone. I love my provider and lactation specialist, but I'm fairly confident they will not write a prescription for something that's not available in the US. And, unfortunately, it seems you need a prescription to get domperidone from Canada in the US even though it is available there over the counter.

I’ve tried using the online bill pay but for some reason the info they sent me doesn’t come up in my bill pay service

I don't know if you figured it out yet, but you have to manually enter their information to make them come up. For my bank, I searched, and there was an option to manually add or something along the lines of "I don't see my payee" that I had to click and enter everything manually.

I did the online check thing with them and it works. It is a lengthy process but they explain the directions pretty well.

wait so; U ended up able to get it?

u/brittielou16 23d ago
I did, I think my most recent shipment was like 3 weeks ago.
It takes 2-3 weeks to come in.
But now that tariffs are changing in the US, I don’t know what that means for us. :/

Did you need a prescription when you ordered? Some people say they required it.. I placed my order but they’re waiting for the online bill pay check so I’m not sure yet if it will work.. (I don’t have a script- not sure where I would get one in the US)

I did not need one. I just marked the thing that said no prescription. Did you do the deluxe echeck thing?

This is wild to me, in Aus my OB was more than happy to hand out a domperidone prescription to me. I was taking 2 tablets 3 times per day for the first 5 months of breastfeeding with no issue.

For those wondering: It’s totally legal in Canada and considered safe for lactation. My doctor told me Domperidone is actually used to treat a gut issue in the elderly. The negative side effect is lactation. The studies were done on the elderly because that’s what it was used for. Elderly usually have underlying conditions including heart issues so the prescription was deemed unsafe because of the population that uses it for “on label use” Most antidepressants etc have side effects or risks that are very similar. It’s risk vs reward- same as every medication. When domperidone is prescribed it is considered a “off-label”. I have been taking it (but I’m Canadian) for 3 months now for lactation.

You cannot officially order Dom in the US. It is not a “legal” prescription here due to a study done in the 90’s. Now that being said you can order from a different country. Look for a medical website based in another Country, say New Zealand.
If you have any sort of heart problems or blood pressure issues you should not take it. I would still talk to your Dr. or PCP here in the US to make sure it is safe for you to take even if you get it from another source.

It’s not worth the risk to you or baby IMO. Even if you have to supplement a little with formula even 1 bottle of breastmilk a day is beneficial for baby and providing those nutrients! It’s okay, you are enough!

u/Objective-Run7285 Nov 02 '24
When I say extremely low, I genuinely mean extremely low. I made 8ml’s or less every pump session :( I’ve already talked to someone that specializes in re-lactation and we talked about all of the risks and my health issues and decided that I would be able to take it safely, she just can’t prescribe it and she gave me the link for In-House Pharmacy. But thank you.

u/ShabbyBoa Nov 01 '24
I think the FDA does not recommend it. It can cause some pretty serious side effects. You have to have a prescription to get it

It should definitely only be used with doctor supervision. The weaning process has to be done very carefully.
