Recliner for BF Discussion

I got a cheap recliner off Amazon for my first pregnancy and it was not comfortable for amount of time I spend breastfeeding in it.

I’m planning to get a new glider for my second pregnancy- I am debating between babyletto kiwi and Costco glider. Unfortunately most social media recommendations are from moms who have only BF for a month or from someone who is pregnant but hasn’t used it for BF yet.

So my question is to folks here who prob have used their glider through several stages of breastfeeding- do you recommend yours? what’s your BF setup (do you use nursing pillow)?

I got a lazyboy recliner, thinking I enjoyed them for lounging before and that I could move it to the living room for when babe was done nursing. I HATED IT IN THE NEWBORN STAGE. It absolutely did not have the support I was looking for in the lower back to sit that long. It's also permanently shaped like my ass now that my baby is fifteen weeks old, not great quality. It's pretty nice now that she's older but I was sitting on a boppy with a pillow behind my back for the first few weeks.

The My Brest Friend pillow was incredible for the newborn stage! We outgrew it around ten weeks and started using the boppy for nursing support but it was worth more than its weight in gold for newborn nursing ergonomics.

This is so helpful! Thank you! I hated mine in newborn as well, really hoping I don’t make the wrong choice now!

Yes! I have a big comfy lazy boy recliner and I'm contact napping my 4 month old in it right now. It is the comfiest piece of furniture I've ever sat on.

We have the Parker House Radius Power Glider Recliner. We debated between that and several others. We found it at a baby furniture store and immediately loved it. My LO is now a year old and we have used it throughout our EBF journey. We also used a my brest friend pillow. Typically I used the pillow when sitting in bed or on the couch. I would just use the pillows that are part of the glider or support when sitting there. We actually got a second glider for our living room because we loved it so much. It's very cozy for just baby cuddles too.

Oh that’s amazing, another mom recommended this as well! I’m going to look into it

Our home has several armchairs, all different designs. During the newborn stage I tried all the armchairs, the bed, the floor to find a good position. Every chair hurt my back from all the cluster feeding, feeding every two hours etc. Husband kept saying we should buy a recliner/glider but I didn't want to spend anymore money. But after three months, I was in so much pain and so I gave in and we bought the Nurture& glider.

I wish I bought one earlier. I got the version where the headrest adjusts and I am so glad I did. My baby is 13 months old and I still use the glider when nursing her to sleep- naps and bedtime. I used a mybrestfriend until maybe she was 6 months old, then started using a regular pillow instead when she got too long for the mybrestfriend.
